"This guy is the Michelangelo of hip and knees. I have sent people to him and everyone raves about him. He is the best! The hospital that he works in is absolutely" stunning too. You think you are going into a resort. It's been about a month since the surgery and the recovery is longer than I hoped, but when I went to see him a few weeks ago he said I am ahead of schedule in healing time.

"I have been going to him for about fifteen yes. I was a runner and had knee problems. He kept me going. He is very knowledgeable. He was able to tell me exactly" what was wrong with my knee. He really seemed to know what he was doing. He told me what my options were and he never pushed me. I really appreciated the fact that he was honest to me. He is very personable and has a great bedside manner. When some of the staff in the hospital did some incorrect things for my care, he took care of everything. I felt that he was my advocate and was interested in my healthcare.

Orthopedics: Knees

Some orthopedic doctors specialize in the bones, muscles and tendons of the knee, from treating ACL tears and arthritis to performing knee replacement surgery.

Does being overweight put you at higher risk of knee replacement surgery? Yes, but a small increase in activity and decrease in weight can make a difference.

As differences between men and women's knees are better understood, effective treatments can be targeted specific to women with knee pain, says Closkey. (Photo by Karen Geswein)

Sounds like you should be pursuing a disability claim.  Also, you could speak to your previous doctor frankly about your concerns.
Have they made orthotics for your shoes that distribute your weight better?

Hi,

This is James W. with Member Care. Thanks for posting your question.

It looks like when you signed up online on 8/5/2014, that you accidentally joined our greater Portland chapter instead of our Salem/Corvallis chapter that your zip code falls under. I have transferred your subscription to that chapter, so you will now have access to the correct area.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at 1-866-783-2980. We're open weekdays from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.

Thanks again!

My partial knee replacement collapsed causing a lot of pain and resulting in a crooked leg. Dr.
Royal Oak Knee Replacement Surgeons Provider Name Locked
was ready to simply dismiss the whole series of symptoms I was experiencing at the time. He recommended a "wait and see" approach despite my increasing amount of pain and inability to progress in Physical Therapy. I basically had to throw a fit before he'd recommend an MRI that revealed extensive damage to the other compartment in my knee. Based on the MRI findings I was told I needed a full knee replacement. Questions I should have asked: Why wasn't an MRI showing the full extent of the damage to my knee done before the Partial Knee replacement ? How long & painful will the recovery be ? Do you cut my ACL tendon for the full knee replacement. If so, why ? They tell you your ACL tendon is not necessary ( after the fact - if you happen to discover they've cut it ). I'm still in pain, daily, sometimes w/ each step, 4mths. post OP from the Full knee replacement. Dr.
Royal Oak Knee Replacement Surgeons Provider Name Locked
is now doing full knee replacements with a prosthesis that doesn't require cutting of the ACL tendon ... too late for me. His staff is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a good response, within a reasonable time frame (1 week or less). Other times no response at all to the message you've left. You rarely get a

to call and actually speak to a person. I'm left w/ the feeling that the whole place is like a high-priced auto chop shop. That's certainly how I'm being treated. If you value personalized care, concentrated treatment based on individual cases, don't go to Dr.

never returned my call. Office refused to see me. Because of this I developed complication necessitating reduction of bone under anesthesia which could certainly have been avoided. I suffered more pain, a hospitalization and a large ded tale expense.

|WOA is a typical busy group practice, with that bit of feeling like being on an assembly line. Staff is pleasant, but businesslike. Waits are not excessive. (That's one of the up sides to being businesslike.) Once when I was there and some people were waiting longer than usual, a staff person came out and made an announcement explaining the delay and which doctors were running late. I thought that was very considerate, even though I was not one of the people affected. I also liked that they didn't immediately see surgery as THE solution. Treatment seems to be helping. I have nothing to compare them to regarding pricing. I was pleased that my copay was discussed as part of treatment planning.

You can't even see my scars. The professionalism and office staff is all top notch. He makes sure you are not in pain while in rehab. I highly recommend him. Fly to Dallas and have him fix it. Only healthy people are in the building so you don't have to worry about infections. I was in a walker 5 hours after surgery. Stopped using that after about a week. Never used crutches or a cane. I hope I don't have to use them again in the future but I will if I break another bone.

Dr.
Royal Oak Knee Replacement Surgeons Provider Name Locked
explained everything I needed to know prior to surgery, provided a class on preparation for the majoy surgery, and has his staff very well-trained to answer all our questions and be available for assistance. My recovery has been quick, easy, and without problems. My xray of the new hip joint is perfect. I am very satisfied with his skills, knowledge, and support staff. I look forward to his replacement of my knee in the future.

He is a good doctor. He knows his stuff. I attended a program at a retirement community where he gave a talk where his patients would speak about their cases. It gave his patients an opportunity to learn from fellow patients about what to expect. He is very friendly and caring. About 50% of the crowd were previous patients who were eager to speak and it was all positive experiences.

Everything has gone excellent! He is a perfectionist. He brings his own staff with him to the hospital so that they know the patients and they are there before, during, and after the surgery. Dr.

I have no complaints and everything was handled very well. His office is very good. He is busy and I did have to wait in the waiting room for quite awhile, but that is only a minor issue.
