"The owner was very responsive and easy to get in touch with. His quote was very fair and the job was done very well! I would definitely recommend this company to others.

"I informed
that my son's home was inspected by the buyer's inspector. The inspector found the pilot not to be lit, so he couldn't" test the heater. This heater is an older model Pentair MiniMax Gas Heater for the Spa. The pilot can go out just from wind blowing or moisture (rain) getting on it, but my son wanted it checked to make sure it is working properly for the new buyers and to pass the inspection. My son's AHS Home Warranty was called twice for the same issue...the pilot is out on the heater please send a service person to see why it is going out. The same service company came and lit the pilot. The first time my son doesn't know if they looked at it, the second time my son was home when service tech came. The service tech lit the pilot light and started walking off. My son asked him if he was going to look at the gas heater to see why the pilot was going out. The service tech actually told my son, "No, I'm just here to light the pilot". I started making calls from Angie's list pool and spa heater repair.
was the first person to call me back.
spent a lengthy amount of time explaining how the heater works and different scenarios that could be happening as to why the pilot light goes out. He told me that he would go to my son's home on Monday and have a look at it. He also informed me that he is State Certified to work on LP Gas Pool Heaters. I didn't know there was such a thing. Apparently, there are many LP Gas Pool Heater owners that don't know this. A business that doesn't have state certification can be penalized with a hefty fine and other state recourse. Also, if the gas heater is still covered by a manufacturer's warranty and it is serviced by a non-certified company this would void the warranty. I also told
about the pool light and that it's not a wire because that has been tried by the same company that was to check the pilot light issue.
recommended a company for me to call. I received a text from
that he couldn't come on Monday. He had become ill, but he said if he would come Tuesday. Tuesday he was still very ill. He was began trying to find someone that he knew would do a good job and was state certified. He gave me names and numbers in but everyone was beyond the schedule we needed to have someone come. I couldn't believe
would do this while he was ill. He stated he takes his work seriously, his business is family run and they're proud of their service record..plus he is a little in shock because this usually never happens to him. He felt very guilty which he shouldn't have felt. He texted me several times during the next couple days...even though he was still ill...I told him to get better but he was bound and determined to find someone to help. Someone else was found to repair the gas heater and the company is state certified. :) It's amazing to me because even though I haven't met
, he reached out to help even through illness when he could've just had the "I've come to light the pilot light and that's it " attitude! Thanks

My order of preference - first choice a jacuzzi/hot tub repairman (from a jacuzzi/hot tub/sauna distributor), second choice a plumber (many do not work on hot tubs, jacuzzi's and sauna because they cnanot afford to stock parts). An electrician might be able to fix it if it is a connection problem, but such motors are seldom repaired if the problem is internal, just replaced - which would be a jacuzzi repairman/plumber type job.

You will have to find out what your model costs new - looks like they run from about $400 to 1700 depending on size. IF yours is at the lower end, might be just as cheap to replace it, with parts and labor. If not low end, then repair probably works. Typical pricing of components that might have gone out - switch $80, timer/control unit $130, heating element $100 (probably most likely to have failed) - so if only one of these went out, figuring $100-200 labor, probably cheaper to fix it. I would contact your dealer for a better idea.

BTW - here is a Saunatec instruction on maintenance on the heating element and rocks, failure to follow can shorten heating element life, if that is what went out (and probably the simplest to replace) -

I'm sorry to say there aren't many of us on here with adequate experience working on pools, myself included.  My suggestion would be to contact a few local companies specializing in pool renovation and have them give their recommendations and bids for the work, breaking down order of operations so you know what to expect at which stages.  Check Angie's List for referrals in your area and cross check those with the BBB for any unresolved complaints.

Pool Cleaning reviews in Rapid River

We had another company take a look at the our system because the filter had no pressure. They said that we would need to replace the motor and all of the plumbing around it for around $1000. My husband did some looking and found that

had a far better price on the motor and comparable price on labor.

arrived in the time frame that we were given, took a look and said that the motor sounded fine and he would recommend just the plumbing repair. He was finished in about an hour as promised.

Objective: Get gas fireplace working for the holidays.
First Visit: We were encouraged to purchase a large gas tank for outside the house for $1000. During the install soot was tracked all over our rug.
Second Visit: Two weeks after the installation the system failed to work. We were charged for the service call.
Third Visit: We purchased a new log set and kit for $1000, which began to fail two weeks later.
I have made over 30 calls and I am asked for all my information every time I call with no response. For two seasons now we have just wanted to get a working fireplace for the holidays. $2100 later we still have the same dream.

Pool Service through Angies List. The very next day, I had a call back AND a service call. The day after the service call, my new heater was in place. It took longer for the pipe glue to dry than the entire process of arranging for service :-) This company is professional from the first contact. Goes without saying that they are our new go-to company for all things pool! Looking forward to working with them again. I recommend

to anyone looking for fast response and great workmanship. This was a no-brainer!

FYI, out of 3 pool services that I contacted on Angies List, only two services responded and

is the greatest. Very professional. He kept me in the loop the entire process. He was very patient and again very professional. I would use him again (Hopefully won't have to) and refer him to anyone who asked. Always showed up on time and even came on a Sunday to finish up.

Everything went really well. The gentleman came out on the same day that I called, the technician was timely and efficient, and he did a good job with the repairs.

I have used Angler Pool Service for the past year and highly recommend them. The owner of the company came to my aid after I had trouble with poor service on my pool which caused a lot of acidic damage on the elements of my pool. Not only were all of those fixed to my satisfaction, but the weekly pool service is reliable and competent.

What a pleasant surprise!! I have a 12,000

KOI pond that is 4 ft. deep and has 2 large bottom drains and a skimmer that feed a filter system much like that of a swimming pool except the media in the filter is plastic beads instead of sand. It pumps 9,000 gallons of water through the system an hour and runs 24 hours a day. The water after passing through the filter returns over a waterfall back into the pond. There are 2 large river birch trees that overhang the pond and the shed a lot of leaves and small twigs into the pond. Over time I had an accumulation on the bottom of the pond and the drain pipes running under the pond had stopped up and after a routine backwash of the pond the pump lost its prime and I was unable to restart it. I got the bright idea that since it was similar to a swimming pool to call a swimming pool maintenance company for help. I looked on the internet and found and called ASP.
Rapid River Pool Cleaners Provider Name Locked
answered the phone and when I described my problem he said he could help and he could come 2 days later. When I explained that I had 60 large KOI fish that required the water flow to keep the water oxygenated he said he was leaving for an appointment and would come as soon as he finished. He worked on my problem the rest of the day and returned the next morning and got everything working great. He also altered the plumbing to give me the ability to blow out trash in the drain line. He found a problem with the multiport valve which we decided needed replacing and added a shut off valve on the waste line to solve the problem until I could get a replacement. He was great to work with and communicated his findings and suggestions well and his pricing was very reasonable. I plan to use his service on a regular basis.

, the owner, is the ultimate professional and provides excellent service. He, or a member of his team, provide me with weekly reports detailing the chemical levels in my pool and that it is safe to swim in. He also lets me know if any of my equipment may need to be repaired or replaced. I truly appreciate him looking out for my pool, as it is an expensive investment, and I want to be sure I am able to enjoy this investment on a daily basis. I highly recommend
