Done on time and at estimated cost. The work was outstanding, very precise mitre cuts, exceptional look. The end product of work performed by
is always top notch.

This will be a little bit of a strange review because what I am so impressed with is what this company didn't do! If this review seems to long to read, just skip to the last paragraph. We called
because we thought we had a water problem in our basement. We had several people look at it. They all were sure that we had water damage and we were anticipating a very costly repair - full of unknowns, only possible to find out about by tearing out a wall (costly just to do that). Several people told us very seriously that we had mold and water damage. They touched the carpet on the floor and told us it was wet. When my husband and I felt the carpet, we didn't feel any moisture, but, who knew? (
did not tell us he thought the carpet felt wet.) Then they pointed to a spot in the ceiling tile that had obvious water damage. We had a bunch of bookcases against the wall that supposedly had the damage, so before anyone could tear out the wall we had to clear out the bookcases. We had various estimates for the cost of tearing out the wall.
's estimate included also looking into our downspouts with a camera to see if they were working properly, but his estimate was higher than the other estimates. I hired
in spite of the fact that his estimate was higher because I felt I could trust him to give me clear and honest feedback as the project went on, in part because he was not part of a large company, but was the person who would be working on the project personally. I come from a family of small businessmen and trust that type of interchange - I don't like feeling like I'm being handled by salespeople. I just want to talk straight to whoever is going to be doing a job and find out what it is, what it costs, without any jazz in between. (I'll keep my language clean here.) Anyway, for those reasons I thought I had a better
of having only necessary work done, or, to put it another way, of not having unnecessary work done with
than if I hired a bigger company because we could get lost in a big company with various levels of people working on the project. So I actually picked
, the company with higher priced estimate to do the work because it is smaller. When I told
that, he almost sounded like he was trying to talk me out of hiring him, because he was more expensive than the others! What a refreshing change from some of the heavy marketers that we had looking at the project.
In any case, I turned out to be much more right in my thought process than I could have ever predicted.
got as far as tearing out a row of ceiling tiles, and told me he thought he had found the problem, and it didn't involve water damage from outside. There had been a nest of squirrels up in the ceiling, and the water damage was urine from the squirrels. He told me he saw no evidence that I had a water damage problem, and he didn't see any reason to go ahead and tear out the wall. He cleaned out the nest and put the ceiling back together. We realized that what looked like mold was just a different type of varnish on half of the wall, not mold. I asked him what he thought was the reason for the musty smell downstairs, and what I should do about it. He said it was just a very wet summer and he recommended getting a dehumidifier and cleaning the carpets professionally. (You notice neither of these things are jobs that he does or can benefit from us doing.) He then told us he would refund the unused part of the deposit we had made on the project. A few days later I got a phone call in which he said that since we didn't seem to have a water problem, he didn't see why we should have him check our downspouts either, and that if we liked, he would refund an additional $300 that he would have charged for looking in the downspouts.
I have to say, I'm stunned. I don't think I have ever had a workman come into my house, diagnose what he thinks we need to have done, give me an estimate, have me put down a 50% deposit, start the project and then tell us after a small bit of exploration that he honestly doesn't think we need to do the job at all and then offer to give us our money back. I am sure that the other two companies who gave us a price for doing this job would have simply gone ahead, torn out the wall, and charged us our agreed price for doing it. It was an exploratory job - tearing a wall out to see if there was mold behind it - so they could certainly have followed through on the work order and told us several thousands of dollars later that, luckily, they didn't find anything wrong. And we would have been grateful to have been saved a bigger job in the future.
While
was here he also fixed several other things in a reasonable, rational way for us.
Our front door didn't latch well, so cold air used to rush in all winter. One person told us we would need a $500-$800 new door. Another company told us we would have to tear out the whole wall adjacent to the door too (in a very charming mid-century modern house with nice woodwork) and that would cost about $1000.
did a quick repair job with a screwdriver while he was standing there, essentially for free, which he says will hold us for 2-3 years. Then we could look again to see what we could do with the door. (I doubt he would recommend replacing the door or the whole wall to fix a latch that doesn't work properly.) We had holes punched in our walls from a renegade power wheelchair. He plastered those back to smoothness. We had ugly black gunk on the backsplash behind our kitchen sink. He replaced the caulk and now it looks great. He spent quite a bit of time here, finding out that we didn't have a moisture problem and fixing incidental things, and in the end refunded $300 back from the 50% deposit we had given him for the basement job.
I can't really speak to the quality of
's work on a big remodel job, because he didn't do that kind of work for us. But, this is what I can say. He is very pleasant to deal with and I believe he has a lot of knowledge and care about what he does. But what I really want to say is that I am very impressed with his honesty and integrity. Really impressed. I think he went way above and beyond what most companies would have done in this respect. I am so glad we hired him - we ended up actually not having to do an expensive repair job because of his honesty and integrity.

The workman arrived on time, was professional and competent. He removed the shingles and decking around the base of my chimney. Then he attached a metal shield that went up my chimney and extended out all around the base of my chimney. He then put new decking down & shingles. The work was excellent & the leak was totally repaired.

Chapman arrived on time & promptly went to work repairing the leak at the base of my chimney. After he finished the repair, he walked around my entire roof checking for other problem areas. The work was professional & the charge was fair. I would recommend

was punctual and responded quickly to what was developing into a minor plumbing emergency. He did not charge for an estimate, unlike some other larger local plumbing specialists. He explained each step clearly and checked with us at any juncture where cost or time were involved. He left the work and access areas clean and was considerate in dealing with us. For a plumbing job on short notice, I think the price is probably reasonable given the time involved, but I have little to compare it with locally.

He was very prompt, but pricey. He does relatively good work. I had no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to call him again. I have nothing negative to say about him.

Called ahead to say when he would be arriving at the house, and placed plastic runners over my carpet so as not to dirty it. Did the job in a timely and tidy manner and cleaned up well after he was done with the work.

I had been trying to level the feet on the washing machine for a long time. Just couldn't get it right and couldn't tip the machine. A service call from Maytag would have been very expensive. Looked on Angie's list and called

was extremely careful and precise - making sure to build not just a shelving unit but one where the grain was attractive and complimentary to what was around it.

I ended up with works of art.

is the father of the boyfriend of my cousin’s daughter. I paid $425 for his services. His price didn’t include the sump and the back up since I bought that. So, $425 included the basement waste lift pump and the labor to install it as well as the labor to install the sump and the battery back up. I used him at that time because I had used him in the past and I was satisfied. He works very efficiently and he is hard working. He is very price competitive. He is extraordinarily pleasant. He is willing to sit with you and try to come up with the most cost effective solution to your problem. He will tell you a long term cost effective fix. He charges a labor charge of $25 an hour. He has a broad range of skills as most handyman companies do. He does very well. He is one of the most pleasant people that I have ever worked with. I would definitely use his services in the future too without any questions.
