Business Description: A Continued Care Retirement Community (CCRC) is a facility that offers its clients all levels of care and services, continuously from retirement through end of life. As residents age and find themselves in need of greater medical attention and living assistance, they have the flexibility to move from independent living facilities to a guaranteed room in the assisted living space or rehabilitation services area. Woodhaven is the only facility of its kind in Livonia, MI. It has been in business since 1987, and operates as a faith-based non-profit under the guidance of the Apostolic Christian Churches of Livonia, Alto, Bay City, Michigan, and Toledo (Ohio). Woodhaven offers the full range of services expected at a nursing home, including a retirement community, assisted living facilities, adult daycare, Alzheimers care & secured memory services, and physical rehabilitation. Compared to other rest homes and elderly care services, Woodhaven is unique several ways: Christian Retirement Community - All faiths are welcome at Woodhaven, and the non-profit has direct oversight from the Apostolic Christian Church. Worship services are offered weekly, and employees & boardmembers pray for the residents and facility on a regular basis. Staff Longevity - Most senior care facilities have high employee turnover. Woodhaven has many staffers who have been with them for multiple decades, allowing them to build strong relationships between residents and caregivers. Small Size - Woodhaven limits the size of its community to 30 residents in each house, so staffers are able to tend to residents quickly and give personal attention. Woodhaven also invites researchers to schedule a tour of the facility and discuss their needs with the Director of Admissions, Gloria Gerulis (gloriag@woodhavenrc.org).
