Lawn And Yard Work Reviews in Holland

Great service. Great results. After the 2012 drought and much of my lawn looking nearly dead, with their help my lawn made a fantastic recovery in 2013. Cost was very reasonable,
is very personable and easy to work with directly. Provided quotes after visiting my property, not over the phone while looking at google map like the other company I called. They make it very easy to choose exactly the services you want, with no pressure sales pitch. I used to do all my own yard work, with mixed results, but I'll definitely use

Lawn And Yard Work reviews in Holland

Let me begin by saying that one of the owners was very friendly and seems like a very nice person, as was his son (who put down the mulch)... but they don't stand behind their work. I was also not impressed with their lack of follow up and how long it took for him to come out and look at the mulch.

Late last spring, in May or June, they put down 9 yards of mulch. Initially it looked great, but we quickly began to notice that it was deteriorating and we were seeing more and more dirt as the months wore on. In the fall, late September or October, we called to have them come out and look at it as much of the mulch was turning to dirt--it was as if we hadn't put down mulch in 2 years. One of the owners said he would be by, but then didn't show up. We called a couple more times, each time leaving contact information to follow up and heard nothing back.

This spring, still not getting resolution or even a response, we called again and were told that he would come out. We had to call 4-5 times again, to get one of the owners to come out. He kept forgetting as our house was in a different direction than he typically goes, he told us.

Today, when he finally came out, he told us that the mulch they used last year wasn't their typical mulch and thus this being the reason why it broke down so quickly...5-6 months seems pretty quick to us....he also said he did stop by in the fall to look at the mulch then and thought he had gotten back to us. When he looked at our mulch, or the lack of it, he said what he saw was "pretty typical". When he first quoted it, I was told that typically one can expect to get 1-2 years out of the mulch--but usually 2 years. Had we only been able to get less than a year out of the mulch, we would have come up with another option.

Normally, we put mulch down every two years, and at the end of the second year it needs refreshing. This past year, in the fall it looked like we hadn't put it down for a couple of years. We suggested a touch up in those spots that are truly dirt, but there was no discussion, only more stories of bad mulch last year and this year with the winter weather being so warm, the mulch will be even worse.

As we get our yearly lawn care service bids for maintenance and fertilization, sadly

I am going to stay with this company. They do a really good job. I am very pleased with them. I would recommend them to my friends. They come when they say they are, and they finish in a timely manner.

They keep my lawn very green all throughout the year. I like how they tell me what they spray and what it does to my lawn. I will continue calling this company to do my lawn.

I did not like the work they did to my lawn. It was a poor job. I

t plan on hiring this company again to do any work on my yard. Now I do all my lawn work by myself. It is done how I like it and I save money.

Not well. Had trouble getting it scheduled, due to problems with their slit-seeder( who I then found out was not their employee but a subcontractor). But they finally got it done late in September. Even with multiple and daily watering it didn't come up well in the fall. Their response was to be patient. So waited until spring. Again only minimal growth, sporadic with little bits coming up in most areas but not much - maybe 20% tops. Their response was to be "puzzled" and look for someone else to blame. They finally settled on blaming my regular lawn fertilizing company saying they must have 'accidently put down an herbicide or pre-emergent crab grass

So, even though it was the ideal time to do something to remedy it in the spring they offered no recourse. Since other landscapers were busy with other jobs by this time, and getting no help from Excel, I manually dethatched and reseeded as best I could the larger areas of dead grass so to have something filling them in while conditions were still ok. It was several days of hard work but my seeding actually came up pretty well. And with fertilizing by my regular source the lawn in filling in but will need some additional but more modest efforts in the late summer.

Now, my lawn fertilization company is sure they only applied starter fertilizer after the seeding both in the fall and in the spring. And I was here both times, we discussed it before they started, and I'm as sure as I can be that they're right. Besides, if they had put something down to

or prevent emergence how would any of the slit-seeding come up? More importantly, how would any of what I seeded have come up? I've talked with several landscapers and the opinion is that it could have been bad seed but, more likely, improper depth of planting. I.e. most likely the fault of the seeding contractor.

I've been exceedingly patient and given

and I've paid them thousands of dollars. But, all I've gotten from them are attempts to shift the blame and no offer to stand behind their work. That's extremely unprofessional, inexcusable and a warning to anyone else but at my great expense.
