Holland Lawn And Yard Work Articles
Lawn And Yard Work reviews in Holland
Late last spring, in May or June, they put down 9 yards of mulch. Initially it looked great, but we quickly began to notice that it was deteriorating and we were seeing more and more dirt as the months wore on. In the fall, late September or October, we called to have them come out and look at it as much of the mulch was turning to dirt--it was as if we hadn't put down mulch in 2 years. One of the owners said he would be by, but then didn't show up. We called a couple more times, each time leaving contact information to follow up and heard nothing back.
This spring, still not getting resolution or even a response, we called again and were told that he would come out. We had to call 4-5 times again, to get one of the owners to come out. He kept forgetting as our house was in a different direction than he typically goes, he told us.
Today, when he finally came out, he told us that the mulch they used last year wasn't their typical mulch and thus this being the reason why it broke down so quickly...5-6 months seems pretty quick to us....he also said he did stop by in the fall to look at the mulch then and thought he had gotten back to us. When he looked at our mulch, or the lack of it, he said what he saw was "pretty typical". When he first quoted it, I was told that typically one can expect to get 1-2 years out of the mulch--but usually 2 years. Had we only been able to get less than a year out of the mulch, we would have come up with another option.
Normally, we put mulch down every two years, and at the end of the second year it needs refreshing. This past year, in the fall it looked like we hadn't put it down for a couple of years. We suggested a touch up in those spots that are truly dirt, but there was no discussion, only more stories of bad mulch last year and this year with the winter weather being so warm, the mulch will be even worse.
As we get our yearly lawn care service bids for maintenance and fertilization, sadly ”
So, even though it was the ideal time to do something to remedy it in the spring they offered no recourse. Since other landscapers were busy with other jobs by this time, and getting no help from Excel, I manually dethatched and reseeded as best I could the larger areas of dead grass so to have something filling them in while conditions were still ok. It was several days of hard work but my seeding actually came up pretty well. And with fertilizing by my regular source the lawn in filling in but will need some additional but more modest efforts in the late summer.
Now, my lawn fertilization company is sure they only applied starter fertilizer after the seeding both in the fall and in the spring. And I was here both times, we discussed it before they started, and I'm as sure as I can be that they're right. Besides, if they had put something down to
