Two notes #1 20 feet is going to cost you more per foot that 100 feet.  #2 All prices are relative to Your market ie Omaha is less expensive than St Lious.  Here expect to pay on the 100 foot job $5 to $6 per foot of gutter (5" aluminum) plus the $4 to $5 a foot for the downspouts and $15 to $20 for soffit and facsia covering ie vinyl soffit panels and painted or vinyl clad aluminum covering the fascia.  In the trade a soffit & fascia job.

Unless you are constructing a French Drain (dry well filled with rock or debris and no exit) style system you use a non perforated system.  Cut the plastic flush on the angle where it daylights if the slope is great enough,  If you need it river rock can be used to construct a dry riverbed type drainage ditch out from the daylighted drain.

Short answer: It's up to you. Many home remodeling contractors, including exterior remodelers, don't expect a tip since they've already provided a set price within the contract, but if you really feel that they've gone above and beyond, you may feel obliged to tip them. Angie herself answered a very simliar question in a recent column: Should I tip my remodeling contractor?

Not knowing what type of eaves (the lower edge of the roof) you had before the new soffits were intalled I have to guess what might have happened. If you had closed eves (no soffits, just rafter tails with blocking between) before as was done on some older homes it is possible they removed or drilled holes through to the attic. When this was done there should have been a baffle installed to direct the air flow up and over the insulation. This would only be possible for the soffit installer to do if the wood blocking was removed and not just had holes drilled in it. If the insulation contractor did not go all the way to the exterior wall that could very well be the cause or it he did not make sure the insulation was pushed down to make contact with the ceiling material. If the house was never cold before I would bet the problem is at the eaves. You should call the insulation company for an answer.

The ice build-up in the gutter should not, provided they are properly attached and solid, rip out the gutter.

When you get snow slides and large chunks of frozen precip that let go and slide down the roof with velocity, those are what tear off the gutters and create damage.

If you are concerned about the snow load, a snow rake and/or a proper roofer can remove some of the accumulated snow.

Some ice damming is unavoidable in the correct conditions but I would urge you to look into proper ventilation of the roof and air sealing and insulation.  This will reduce your home's inclination to form these ice dams in the future.

Gutter Installation reviews in Grawn

I called
Grawn Gutter Repair Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he very promptly returned my phone call. I explained the work I needed done and he was out the next day to review my needs. My house is about 13 years old and it appears my gutter drain pipes had been cut in a few places when the irrigation system was installed when we built. I guess it took all these years, but they eventually became so clogged with mud and roots that, unfortunately, my sump pump (which connects into these same underground drain pipes) could not adequately move the water in the heavy rains we had in June that

to a costly flood in my basement. (So if there is a lesson to be had here, these drain pipes are pretty darn important!)

came prepared to do the work and gave a very fair and reasonable estimate. He repaired two main areas where the irrigation installers had sliced the pipes and repaired a few of the connectors from my downspouts to the part where they connect at ground level to the underground drains.
The materials and the finished product of what

used looks like a Mercedes-Benz compared to the used Chevy pipes and connectors that had been installed during construction. They look fantastic. And where

had to dig up the grass he replaced everything exactly the way it was and took great care to ensure it looked good.
Overall my experience was fantastic I would not hesitate to have

Whenever it rains we have water pouring over the end cap on the gutter around our back porch and flooding an area by the door. The original builder never ran the gutters all the way around one side which was approximately 25 to 30 feet. I called
Grawn Gutter Repair Contractors Provider Name Locked
to come out and add a section of gutter and downspout around the side of porch. When the estimator came he said that instead of what I wanted it would be better to install 52 feet along the backside of the house on the second story to solve the problem. I explained that my problem with that was that it was difficult to get up there to clean gutters on the second story with the porch in the way. He said that it was not a problem and they would just install a leaf guard. I was feeling a little like I might be being upsold but he assured me that was the best way to solve the problem and gave me a quote for that and also an option B which is what I originally wanted but he felt wasn't necessary (about 1/2 the price). When the installers showed up I reminded them about the leaf guard before they started. They said that it was not included in the original quote and the leaf guard would cost extra. When I let them know that this was not what I had been told by the estimator and I wanted to speak with their office first they left. The next day I spoke with the office who told me that it would be an extra $200 to put the leaf guard in. I was feeling even more upsold but was willing to allow that maybe it was just a misunderstanding as long as my problem would be solved. They came back the next day and installed the new gutters. I also went out after to make sure the porch gutters were clean. That night it rained and just like it always had water came pouring over the end cap of the porch. After some aggravation and being talked into a job that was $400 more that what I originally requested nothing has changed. I am now having to pay another company to do the work I should have just had done in the first place to solve the problem.

Got an estimate to fix the roof vent and replace the front rain gutter (approx 40 ft). We wanted the gutter to drain in the opposite direction from its current location. We also had shingles missing from the roof vent on the top of the roof. The estimator was the owner of the company. He priced the replacement of the gutter and the fixing of the roof vent missing shingles. He estimated the repair on the roof vent by standing on the front porch and looking up at the roof vent. He was to match the color of the gutter and our down spout to the current colors, They were to be out and do the work the following week. We heard no more about the color until the day after he was suppose to return, several workers showed up with straight white gutters (ours were coffee brown) and white down spout. They were not prepared to fix the leaks in the roof. they were nice but did not know about anything that we had discussed with the owner. After asking questions about what they were going to install and when they could fix the roof; they said they would come back later after the owner contacted us. He was suppost to call us the next day. After waiting a couple of days, we called him and he was upset that we had questions. I thought it was worked out and he said that he would be out within the week and he would come himself. He never showed., we called again and he said he would be right out within the week. Again he never showed.
We got another estimate from Los Gatos Roofing for the roof vent repairs. Their estimator said he would inspect the roof before he could give an estimate. He found the damage to the roof vent and gave us an estimate on fixing it. We will be going with them. They appear to more professional and through. He also took a piece of broken shingle so that he could match the color.

was never that interested in matching the color. The repair to the roof vent is the main repair needed for the upcoming raining season.
I rated the company with a D as they committed to do work and never followed thru. We were not given a choice of colors as he had told us could be done. They would put up the generic colors and we could paint them after they were up. Never got a date to fix the leak in the roof. We need to have the roof repaired before the start of the rainy season. We would also like to have the gutter replaced before the rains.
Just gave up waiting long past their promised dates with no replies as to why they are not coming to do the work.

I was able to make an appt for a free estimate over the phone after I first called. Nir came about two days later to inspect damaged rain gutter, that needed to be replaced. I was provided with an estimate. The part was made, and the gutter was installed two days later.I was very satisfied with the quality of the part, installation, and quick service. Everybody showed up at the time indicated. Would use the service again.

I tried and tried to get a hold of
Grawn Gutter Repair Contractors Provider Name Locked
, but could not get him to come out and give me an estimate on new gutters. I chose him because of great reviews on Angie's list, and I am extremely disappointed. We still don't have a gutter company to replace the gutters - discouraging.
- Nancy D.

Company missed an scheduled month in advance appointment. After I contacted them they promised to call me back to arrange new time but they never called me back or sent me an email. I have tried to contact them several times but unsuccessfully. This provider is very unreliable you have to avoid them.
- Oleksandr S.

Contacted their office to get estimate on roof replacement of my home. Call taker (female) VERY friendly and helpful A+. Explained the job that I wanted done for an estimate due to storm damage and that my insurance company is involved but they will not need to get involved with the insurance adjusted, that I will handle.
Return call several hours later, SORRY but we won't take on any insurance jobs!
- Gary A.

Called their office to set up an appointment for an estimate on replacing my house roof. Explained that roof was a little on the steep side. Their response was, they generally don't do that kind of roof work due to the age of their crew!
When they tried to view on Google Earth, they were unable to find my location to view what the job looked like. After spending time on the phone with them, is this what your house looks like, no, well is this what your house looks like, no, I finally realized this company is NOT for me and said goodbye and hung up.
