Improvements came out to the house to discuss our options for installing a basement egress window. He was extremely" knowledgable and very personable with whom to discuss the project, offering suggestions that were helpful and answering questions about the installation of an egress window and all the considerations that go into it. He showed me photos of other egress windows he had completed, as well as the types of materials that would go into construction of the egress. The egress window installation itself was smoothly and professionally accomplished, and was completed in just one day (allowing a following day for some minor touch-ups to the inside basement). The finished product was outstanding, met all my expectations and has transformed the basement, not only offering an escape in the event of a fire, but also giving more light to the basement and an aesthetic appeal as well. Additionally, for installation of the egress
had procured the necessary permit from the town, and therefore the project has been completed according to code. I would definitely recommend both an egress window and
in the future!

"At 1045am this morning, August 24 my dog started barking at the door, she wanted to go out into the backyard. I was sitting in my office on the first floor at the" time. I let the dog out back and a man ran away from inside of my fenced yard! He stopped and said he was from
and didn't I know he was coming when I asked him why he was in my yard and what did he want. I asked him why he didn't ring the bell to let me know he was there...he said he did. The door bell did not ring. I told him they were supposed to give an estimate to cover 4 window wells...he said he thought there were 5 or 6. Again, I said I wanted an estimate for 4 windows. He had to tell his partner to stop working! He was starting the prep to install the window coverings! The man told me if I wasn't home he would have installed the covers! He was very very pushy. I never authorized any work, just requested an estimate! He then gave me an estimate for 4 windows, which was higher that another estimate I had rec'd last Friday, even with the 20% discount. I told him I had one more estimate to get before deciding, and the 2 men left. They did not replace the bricks that had been pulled away from the window wells on the side of my house (remember, they were doing the work without authorization!) I called the office and spoke to the man I made the appointment with...he fumbled with his answers and said there must have been a miscommunication. I certainly hope that is all it was and that it wasn't anything else. An older person may have been confused or intimidated by the work crew and just allowed the work to be done and/or paid a bill for a service they didn't authorize. Be careful!

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

?

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

http://www.mercuryexcelum.com/images/customer-files/Advantage.pdf

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

I had
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and his guys put new siding on my house and they appeared to do a good job on that, so I hired them to paint the exterior of my house. I gave them an $18000.00 deposit several weeks before they started the job.
I had hired an excellent painting company to paint my previous house. They had the job done in about 2-3 days and there were NO FLAWS. Unfortunately they were no longer in business.
In comparison,
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and his guys took over 2 weeks to paint my house. In prepping the house, they did not remove the light fixtures from the house before painting and instead used tape around them. The fixtures ended up with paint on them and the siding around them had bare spots. I found drips and sags especially on the trim , peeling paint on one of the doors, drips on the window screen,, over spray on the foundation of the house and a paint sprayed bee's nest. There was a thermometer on the back of the house that they sprayed with paint, making it unuseable so it had to be thrown away. They left the
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
there though I asked them to remove it. Overall, the paint job looked sloppy and the flaws were obvious. It was like they just did not care how it looked. There are still pieces of blue tape on my patio cover. (Too high for me to reach). They did come back to to repaint the trim because it was so uneven.
Had I known the poor quality paint job they would do and HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE THEM TO DO IT , I would not have hired them to do it. I think they do a good job on the other things they do and they are nice people but they are not painters.
I don't like to write bad reviews, but I would want to know these things if I was thinking of hiring them to paint. If you are not particular about your paint, I guess you wouldn't mind, but when I pay a professional price I do want a professional job.
I had received a bid of $3,650.00 from another painter and he had a long list of references I could check and sounded like he would have done a professional job. He could have started the job immediately. I do regret not hiring him.

We are pleased with our product so far. And, we were pleased with the service provided by the
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
Company. We worked with
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
from
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
and found him to be knowledgeable, timely and accommodating. The windows we ordered were ready for delivery in the time proposed to us when we ordered and the work was completed in a timely manner, showed good workmanship and was done neatly. The company did a great job of matching the wood stain used on the new frames to that of the rest of the house and was very prompt to send someone to the house to correct one of the locks which worked too hard. The cost of the windows was high, but not out of line with what we found for others of similar quality.

Ultimately we decided on a different type of window replacement but had we gone with
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
windows Midwest Windows and Doors was our choice.
Fowlerville Egress Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was very timely in his quote and worked with us as we asked for several changes on the quote as we changed our mind about the windows. He answered all our repeated questions and was very patient. Definitely was a low pressure but very informative kind of interaction and I didn't get any high pressure sales tactics at all. Would use in the future when we decide to replace our doors.

and his crew were great to work with. He was very prompt with his estimate and did all the work in the scheduled time he estimated.
Communication was very fluid (I'm not always the easiest to get a hold of cause I work nights.)
I'm looking forward to working with them again, my house has a handful of projects ahead of it. :)

did a great job from beginning to end. Their salesperson was personable, prompt and answered all my questions. They did the job in one day, digging the hole with a small machine, removing the dirt, cutting the hole in the concrete, installing the window, framing the inside space with pine, and cleaning up after themselves. Everything went exactly as expected and we absolutely love the light that now comes in the basement and the added safety in case of a house fire. After a pretty hard rain I saw no signs of leaking.
