"Our furnace is tuned up and ready to go for the up coming winter. Our gas fireplace is now operational - we have not been able to use if for over a year now as it would not light." The technician was able to find the issue and got it up and running and all cleaned - we are back in business to use this winter. Excellent service from

"I called
in the morning about the job and he asked "can I come do it in a couple of hours?" which I was thrilled with. He and his son
" Jr came and within a couple of hours had everything done. He had two of the exact type of chimney caps I needed on his truck. They were both super friendly and we had a great conversation and he even helped me look at a few other issues with the house I was concerned about. I'd hire them again in a heartbeat.

"Service call went well.
did initial consultation. He came out about a month later to do all the work. about 3 hours total. He was very helpful in identifying" the problem and offering possible solutions. We needed repair and service on our prefab fireplace in our condo, after damages from a fire in the tenant's unit below ours. There were a couple of holes chunked out from the fire dept kicking it in. This is from where he did the initial consult- taking pictures and notes. He noted there were still some variables we wouldnt know until the drywall was fully opened up. The repairs were completed a month later, with very little exterior demolition. (thus saving us some drywall work) He installed fire stops to code around the ventilation pipes. He gave us reccomendations about further work to be done. And we had a carpenter come in afterwards to finish the insulation installation and drywall repair. The 2 contractors discussed the issues briefly, helping in the hand-off of work. Overall: very happy with the service performed.

The Angie's List Guide to Winter Maintenance

It's the time of year when the winter weather can take a toll. Follow this winter maintenance checklist to protect your home, your car and your health.

Most people enjoy sitting in front of a fire on a cold day, but there are disadvantages to traditional, wood-burning fireplaces. They tend to waste energy, require maintenance and pose some risk. Read this guide to discover several alternatives that provide the same ambiance, but with fewer downsides.

Do you love the smell of wood burning while you're curled up next to a fire? Consider converting your gas fireplace to wood. Here's how much it costs.

Ready to cozy up to a new fireplace this winter? Before you hire someone for the work, make sure to ask your potential contractor these four questions.

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Fireplace Installation And Maintenance reviews in Fenton

I bought a $99.00 coupon through Angie's List, within a couple of days they called to set up the appointment for my chimney cleaning and inspection. The day of service they came in and explained what they were going to do, they covered the fireplace and began cleaning. While one of them was cleaning from the inside, the other went out onto the roof and inspected the outside of the chimney as well as the other vents. Once they finished they showed me the before and after pictures, as well as pictures from the roof. They found a couple of spots that needed to be fixed, but they left me with the quote without trying to be to salesy.

Both techs were knowledgeable, polite and thorough. Asked if we had questions or concerns. Left the area neat and clean and the fireplace works great.
- Patrick Q.

Very responsive when called and said they would make this job a priority as it was an emergency call due to carbon monoxide leak. When they found out they could not get part to complete job on a Saturday, they suggested I try to find another service provider so I could have heat and hot water before Monday. I called several other chimney sweeps and one company said they could not schedule an appt for me until 3 weeks from now. Another company wanted to charge me $150 service call because it was the weekend. I waited for

to complete work on the Monday.

was prompt, courteous and explained everything. He did a great job and even took the time to inspect my fireplace chimney/valve/gas as home inspector said there was a gas leak and valve to fireplace didn't work.

Good luck.Provider made an appointment with me to survey my roof and give me a cost estimate for a fireplace chimney flashing repair. I took time off from work, and waited and waited. He never showed up and never called me. I called several times, and just got his voice mail. Never heard from him again. Good luck.

He is very professional and knowledgeable in his field of work having had his own business now for over 12 years he had mentioned. A+ work and his pricing is excellent as well. I definitely will hire

They cleaned the chimney, which from our house inspection (just moved in a month ago), we knew was very dirty. They showed us pictures before and after looking down the chimney. The operation/condition of the damper and fireplace screen was checked out along with the condition of the mortar joints and chimney 'crown' I think he called it (the mortar cap on top of the chimney). Suggestions were given to future repairs (the fireplace screen is in poor shape and doesn't work well for example).

GREAT guys! Worked on a very old fireplace and got it working and looking great. Awesome guys to work with, they explained the mechanics to me. Would recommend them without reservations.
