There are some things in life where you really do get what you pay for. People who do good work are in demand, which means that they don't have to be the cheapest around to be the best value and they also are highly sought after....and I believe both of these to be the case with
So we had
repair three bathroom vanities in our rental property.
did an absolutely FANTASTIC job not just repairing but restoring the vanities. After filling the chips/gouges/etc. and color matching all of them, he re-clear-coated the entire vanity so the repairs were completely invisible. It took him over a week to be able to come and do the work (he's a one-man band there), but it was well worth the wait. He was very professional through the engagement.
I would not categorize him as expensive, but he's not cheap either. But as I said, you get what you pay for. We have a few other pieces that need attention and we will definitely be calling him again for those when the time comes.

My daughter brought her beagle home and he proceeded to make deep wooden grooves in my
wood french doors. The damage was as high as the handle. I called around town trying to find someone to fix the doors with little luck until I happened upon
. I believe their specialty is actual furniture but they were willing to come out and look at my doors. A few weeks later they were there to complete the work. The grooves were really deep and you can only sand the door down so far before it looks worse. They were able to refinish my doors! When I look at them I am the only one who knows that they were once damaged. I know that they went out of their way to finish my doors - and I really appreciate that! The price was great too! Oh, and the beagle is banned from my house!

Furniture Repair reviews in Dexter

I emailed the company on their website to get an appointment and figured I would have a wait for a reply. Instead, I received a phone call within an hour. I was able to text him a photo of the damage and described where I lived. It turned out I was on his way back from another service call so he was able to come by that afternoon. They were very polite and promptly repaired the buffet that I originally called about and also had a few minutes to fix the bed rail.
Their prices are in line with other furniture repair places I have worked with in the past when a house call is required.
I would definitely call them again.

Overall I was happy with the final product, however it was my mistake to not read where this provider was located compared to my home, and that is why I answered "no" as to using this service provider again. He kindly met me half way for the drop off of the table, but I drove to him in Manassas for the pick up. The workmanship was good, the communication was good, the professionalism was great (appreciate the offer to meet halfway) - I just spent a lot of time in the car when there are closer options for this service. I don't have a means to rank the price competitiveness, because I didn't compare this table with other providers.

style chairs where the wood on the backs was cracked, or, in one case, broken completely off. They are sturdy now, though the one that was badly broken will have to be treated gently from here on out. They look good.

It went terribly.

agreed to move furniture to storage for the first 2 weeks of June, 2014. We agreed that certain small or delicate items (e. g. an antique grandfather's clock) could be stored in the house. All the remaining bigger items were to be stored with

off-site. Among other things, without permission

attempted to store everything possible on-site. E. g., it moved large

-Furniture ladies and men's dressers from the first floor to the third floor. In doing so, it had to make a 180 degree turn on stairs. In the process it scratched the dressers down to bare wood and got paint on them. It similarly damaged other pieces of furniture that it moved to off-site storage. Contrary to our agreement about storage locations, it moved items my wife and I had stored on the floor of bathrooms from the floor into the bathroom tubs. In the process it scratched the porcelain surface of the tubs. In one bathroom

mover entered the house with a piece of gravel in his shoe and scratched down to bare wood the hardwood floor that had just been refinished. It crammed two twin mattresses and two twin box springs, together with the bed frames and other items, into the laundry room Paint was knocked off the walls in various places and dirty/greasy

were left on the walls, probably from movers' hands. When we complained about all the damage,
Dexter Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
acknowledged that the damage had occurred. However, it refused to take responsibility for the full cost of making repairs. Instead it unilaterally chose to apply a limitation of damages provision from its storage contract to the damage caused in the moving. (There were two contracts, one for moving and one for storage. The moving contract had no limitation of damages provision; that provision only appeared in the storage contract.) When I objected,
Dexter Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
unilaterally declined to discuss the matter further and simply sent me its check for the limited damages amount. When I further objected to this and sent further communications attempting to continue some amicable discussions,

simply ignored my communications and did not respond. Despite initial offers to suggest services that might repair the furniture,

never provided those suggestions despite my request. As to the scratched tubs, it suggested using a "Magic Eraser" on them, which proved to be totally futile.

Workmanship is good. Took quite a while and original notes identifying the requested color stain were lost.

called and asked what color we wanted. Caused some pause on my part as he appeared a bit scattered. It was also a challenge to pin down a delivery date. Once we received the item, we were pleased with the result. Good thing we were not on a specific time line.

We chose this service provider because of the $99 special offered by Angie's List. The deal was that he would provide $200 worth of furniture repair service for this price.

spent about 1 hour on the table legs, and then asked my wife for an additional $75. So he supposedly provided $275 worth of service/repair in one hour. I wish I could be paid that well, and I'm not totally pleased with the quality of the work.

This was a terrible experience. It started with
Dexter Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
being late to the estimate. He arrived late after being lost. We received an estimate for cabinet repair, which included replacement of the slides for all of our kitchen drawers. We wanted them replaced with the soft close type. He assured us that this was something he could do along with the cabinet repairs and redo of my kitchen table top. We gave him a large deposit for the hardware and to start the cabinet work.

never showed up on time. He was very, very hard to contact. He never answered his phone and took days to get back to us. Several times he sent someone else to do the work, who was very nice and worked hard, but clearly did not have any experience replacing drawer hardware. We lived for over a month with no kitchen drawers and not drawers in the master bath. Everything in the kitchen drawers was in my dining room. It made it very difficult to cook. This seemed to go on and on and on. After it was finally completed, none of the drawers close correctly. Some are actually worse than before.
My husband ended up driving to Suwanee where

purchased the hardware (we live in

). From what we were told,
Dexter Furniture Repair Shops Provider Name Locked
and his associate did not install the hardware correctly. In fact, in many cases, they broke the mechanism. The supplier was not willing to take the hardware back since it was installed incorrectly.
We also asked him to replace our cabinet garbage unit. He ordered it twice and both times it would not fit. We ended up ordering it ourselves on Amazon (took a total of 5 minutes to figure it out).
The kitchen table he refinished had to be done twice. The first time he made it glossy, which was not what we requested. The glossy finish had swirls in it. The first time they refinished it in his shop so I did not have a kitchen table for a couple of weeks. Then they redid it in my garage, which was odd. The final product was OK. It looked good, but is not wearing well. Same for the cabinets he refinished. Many had issues where the handle is, and the issue are returning already. I had thought at the very lease he had done a decent job on the refinishing work, but that hasn't gone well either.
With all the mistakes and issues, he had the nerve to ask for more money. It is going to cost us a fortune to fix all the hardware problems. This was a horrible experience.

Although I agreed on estimated price I thought the job would require a full day or more. The job was completed in 3 hours and I could not verify what was done as he claim he could not work if I was within 25 feet(insurance requirement) of him working. The results were mediocre and not much diference. One can of minwax laquer 3hours of work $1400 ?
