"This is the second time I've had
out to do work on my house. Both times he has been responsive, professional, and performs excellent" work for a fair price. The brick point on my chimney was starting to come loose. $600 to chisel out the old masonry, mix a new batch, and use of a cherry picker that he had to rent to get himself up high enough to fix it. Same thing with my garage. It's a cinderblock wall and due to a leak in a seam in the gutter above, water was hitting the window sill of the garage and cracking the mortar in the joints in the cinderblocks below it. $250 to chisel out the old and put in new masonry. I had tried this myself several years earlier using a cement mix from Home Depot and a pointing tool, but it looked horrible, and the mixture didn't bond well to the old substrate. Goes to show you, that for nominal money and finding the right guy, the end results are much better and last longer. I'm writing this review in 2015 and the point work still looks great (of course, I replaced the gutter that was causing the water to run down the wall, which definitely helps) My house is old and some clown decided not to follow best framing practices. They left the entire left-hand side of the main beam of my home unsupported. I had a structural engineer come in to tell me this (hey, I'm no carpenter). But after he pointed it out, yeah, it was obvious the beam needed support.
dug through my concrete floor, dug a pit and poured a new 2 x 2 x 2 foot concrete footer. He then got a several ton
and some lolly columns and gave me instruction to
up the main beam a little at a time over a week. I jacked it up 4 inches.
came back a week later with a steel column cut to the right height from a metal fabricator. I didn't
the house up enough. Poor
was down there, in mid-summer, jacking the house up as little as possible and sweating bullets to bang this steel post into place above the footer he poured. He attached it to the main beam with nice thick bolts through the cap plate and the house has been rock solid now on that side ever since. In fact, in 2015, I had my kitchen (on that side) redone and had heavy things like additional sub flooring, tile, granite counters, installed. Everything has remained rock solid. I'd recommend
in an instant for the masonry he's done for me. I haven't used any concrete pouring services or stamping from him yet. But for the work he's done, his prices were reasonable and he works hard for it. Seems an honest contractor and you know how rare that is nowadays.

Masonry exteriors

Generally considered the highest quality choice for home exteriors, brick and stone are also almost maintenance free and will last as long as the house, though some repairs may be needed from time to time.

Masonry reviews in Comstock Park

10/2013: The work was on a 100 year old 9 unit condo.
They are very professional. I think they are also quite intelligent. Of all the bids we received, they were the most responsive to our needs. They broke the project down very clearly by the different services we requested and priced each element separately. Their crew showed up on time everyday for about 2 weeks including Saturdays. They were extremely hard working and very conscientious. There were a few fairly large areas of disintegrating common brick and mortar. They found old bricks that matched the existing 100 year old walls very well. Grinding out the old mortar was really dirty work. The did a good job cleaning up after themselves every day. In the finished brick areas, they were really careful to make sure the colored mortar matched the old mortar. The mortar in the finished brick area was quite narrow and they were careful not to grind the bricks along with the mortar. They reduced the height of the building's old common boiler's chimney by about 8 feet. They took care of the finished bricks which might be used for future projects. They pointed out lintels and I-beams that were badly in need of replacement as well as some which we have to keep an eye on for future deterioration. They replaced the really bad ones. The final bill was their original bid.

We contacted
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and to our amazement this is the first contractor we've ever had who arrived on time to perform an inspection,
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived as promised and quickly offered his thoughts and advised we'd have a written quotation by the end of the week, and it arrived as promised. Not only was the quotation fair but all the work to be performed was spelled out and the best surprise was no money down until the work was completed. We have never had a contractor with such confidence in their work that they will accept payment upon completion. We called their office and were given a date for the work to be done, the week before we were contacted to confirm the date, once again not the typical followup we're used to. The date arrived and a work crew showed up as promised at the time promised and the work was completed, including a cleanup which even my wife was happy about. Masonry companies best understand the concrete, stone, drainage, and construction of our homes in New

so we feel there is no better for this type of work. When the work was completed
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
again called for a appointment and came by review the work and pick up a check. for this type of service and workmanship we would have paid more, working with
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
has been one of the best experiences we've had

Was quick to respond, and gave a thorough estimate and explanation of what was proposed to correct issues. Worker was polite and professional, responded to any issue/s and or concerns I had with the finished product. The owner actually showed up and redid several sections that he thought could be done better (Not that it was faulty to my eyes), showing me his high standards in service. After letting the mortar settle for awhile, it seems solid and matching the surroundings well. Overall job well-done! I will definitely be using them in the future...

Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
got our business for some extensive foundation and chimney repointing, front step repair, and basement floor painting because of their responsiveness, straight forward and seemingly knowledgeable attitude, and fair price quote. Unfortunately, much of our satisfaction with their work was undone by their lackluster response to a problem that arose with the step repair: The work was completed in November 2013, and come freezing weather in January 2014 the bottom limestone tread they had placed that included insertion of metal railing posts on each side cracked straight across from one insertion point to the other. It seems to us that this was most likely caused by freezing and expansion of remaining moisture in the mortar used to secure the railing posts. After we notified
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
of the problem in January 2014 it took them until May 2014 to finally replace the step, after we threatened to leave a poor review on Angie's List and/or contact the BBB etc. Furthermore, they did not think that the cracked step was a problem with their workmanship, but that "something" must have happened to damage the step, such as a snowplow (!!?) hitting the step. (The step is set back from the sidewalk between concrete retaining walls, and the only snow removal that had taken place was by our own hands with a shovel...).
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
refused to pay for the cost of a new limestone step, but did absorb the labor cost of the repair, with the caveat that "this is the last time we will do this for you." Now it is March 2015, and unfortunately the new limestone tread that was replaced in May 2014 has started to crack in exactly the same manner as the first one placed by
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, again likely due to the freezing weather. Is there a problem with how this company mixes their mortar or lays it down? Given their frustrating response to the first damaged tread, we are not even going to bother re-contacting
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
about the damaged tread, but will be looking for another company to do the repair/replacement. We just hope that the repointing work they did will hold up.

He was very knowledgable about our concerns which was a chimney in a house we are buying

This is what he fid

Chimney at side of house - Cut and point shoulder as needed, remove approximately 30" of brick work at chimney top in order to remove existing flu pipe ( damaged ) and replace with new flu liner. Rebuild as needed including new crown. Place cement wash off from flu to brick

Rear chimney - Point 2 shoulders as needed, repair cap relaying loose brick and pointing where needed. Caulk chimney to house along both sides.

Chimneys and fireplaces had never been serviced in two houses, one built in 1945, the other in the 1970s. One of the fireplace setups was not built correctly when the house was constructed.

and his helper did the work in two service calls per house. He outlined upgrade options and pricing in a straightforward manner, explaining pros and cons without exerting any sales pressure. Both he and his helper worked efficiently and paid close attention to neatness and cleanup. Both fireplaces have safely performed well this winter.

did the work over two visits. We had a misunderstanding about a window that was to be installed and he came and did the work while I was not home. He came back to fix the problem (which was partly my own fault) and did additional labor. I had already paid him for the first visit and even though he had to do more work than originally agree on, he would not even charge me. When I insisted on paying him for the additional work, he wouldn't even give an amount. Just said "whatever you think." He did a great job and was honest and wanted to make sure I was happy with the work. Will definitely use him in the future if we have other brick work to be done. In fact, had him look at another job while he was here. Could not be more pleased.

From beginning to end, our experience with
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
was superb. This is a great company to work with on renovation projects.

Here's our story:

I wanted a Spa-Bath-on-a-Budget, and called a contractor we'd worked with in the past. To my chagrin, repeated phone calls went unreturned. So, I began asking around, starting with my neighbors. No one had had a truly outstanding experience with a renovation project. The contractor had been affordable, but chronically late. Or had cut corners in sneaky ways. Or didn't show up as scheduled. Or was good at laying tile but lousy at cabinetry. Etc, etc.

Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
came up on a Google
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and customer reviews were very positive. Still, I was uneasy about hiring someone I didn't know. I would have preferred a word of mouth referral.

But then we met
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
. He arrived for our first appointment exactly on time, took off his shoes upon entering the house, and then took a good deal of time and attention reviewing our bathroom and listening to what we wanted to do. I had a bid within a few days. The price was right, and
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
had shown such attention to detail that I felt we would be in good hands.

The project began exactly when
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
said it would - and the excellent communication evident from day one continued throughout the project.

Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
(the other principal who is carrying on the business started by his grandfather,, also very friendly and professional) were on the job supervising their crew and in touch with me to update me on progress made or occasional setbacks on a daily basis.

At every step,
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
let us know what was coming next and where additional costs might be incurred. For instance,
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
noticed electrical wiring very close to the shower pipes during demolition. He immediately flagged this with me and indicated that the electrician might need to move the wiring because of the proximity to the pipes. It turned out not to be a big deal; the electrician made the necessary moves without any additional charge. But they were very upfront about the possibility of an additional cost, which I appreciated. When the old tile was lifted, a slope in the floor was evident and needed to be dealt with. This too was pointed out to me immediately, and we paid a few hundred extra for this additional work. That was the only overage.

Tiling, electrical, plumbing and carpentry were all well done. I should add that this project took place in the middle of the Winter from H*** here in Boston, and that
Comstock Park Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his tiler worked several Sundays to make up for lost time. They were also extremely clean, wiping floors and vacuuming at the end of every day to keep dust and dirt from being tracked through the house.

In sum - these guys do great work, communicate effectively, and clearly care about their customers. we've got a gleaming, gorgeous new bathroom. I couldn't be happier.
