"A year ago we decided we wanted to do some remodeling in a home we recently purchased. We knew we wanted to put in some custom bookshelves on each side of the living" room fireplace as well as custom woodwork for a new home office and family room updates. See description above for details on all the work. There was a lot of custom woodwork which took several months to complete in multiple stages. The quality of the woodwork was top-notch and has made a vast improvement to our home. The fireplace mantle is a solid piece of cherry which is absolutely gorgeous and
was also able to create custom wooden pulls for the bookcases to match another pre-existing bookcase. The family room has a lot of space for books, games and other items while allowing for a large TV. And the Office is just a pleasant experience to use with all the custom woodwork through-out. We did get some price estimates for other companies initially and Pioneer was quite competitive with them. Their showroom also has lots of examples of their work as well as projects in progress for folks to get an idea of the quality of the work they do. I must say that
was very professional to work with and always took the time to explain things to us and point out issues with the architectural plans as well as possible improvements. I ended up working both directly with the
and the GC. The GC did not mind me talking directly with Pioneer either. While we are quite happy with the outcome of the wood work, there were a few issues we had. First, the height of the desks ended up a bit too high. This was more the fault of the architect as desks nowadays tend to be a little lower because of computer work being done versus in the past.
was usually good at recommending revisions to the plans that he felt would be beneficial, but both he and the architect missed on this one (again, not really his fault). The other issue involved the lower cabinets, which came out a few inches shallower than the architects drawings. I'm not sure how that happened. This caused an issue in one set of drawers where we wanted hanging folders.
came up with a creative solution to make the bottoms removable to accommodate the folders when needed. This has worked out quite well. I was a little shocked that I had pay a bit extra for the work-around fixes when I consider the problem caused by Pioneer in the first place -- especially after having spent over 30K on the entire project. Since we completed the remodel, I have recommended Pioneer to other friends and would not hesitate to use them again. We are quite happy with how everything turned out and look forward to enjoying the improvements for many years.

"I obtained bids from competent companies but chose
due to his flexibility in working with me, close proximity to the job site and reasonable" costs.
’ attentiveness in responding to my phone calls was outstanding. He cared about the project details and explained everything so that I understood the procedures.
’ decorating advice and good taste helped to keep the project in a trendy updated mode.
sent pictures of the repairs in progress keeping me up to date on a regular basis. On the spur of the moment I decided to have my master bedroom soundproofed. This added an extra week to the schedule, and the materials required special handling due to the heavy boards and special glue. An excellent job was done under
’s supervision. They replaced my kitchen pantry shelving with melamine shelving.
, the painter, retextured the walls, then applied 9 different paint colors I specified to all the walls including 3 accent colors so the house really popped with a coordinated subtlety. I was very pleased with the custom tile back splash installations in both bathrooms and master vanity; the repairs to the kitchen tile back splash were artfully done so you couldn’t tell it was even repaired. The cabinets were custom stained in the kitchen and painted in the bathrooms and hallway with faux detailing, a vast improvement in quality over the original cabinets. Raoul, the cabinet builder, created a beautiful dark stain for the kitchen cabinets. I am thrilled I went with their recommendation instead of the lighter stain I had chosen as it gives the kitchen a fresh, rich look.
did a great job installing prefabricated granite counter tops in the kitchen and bathrooms. My neighbor found the prefabricated granite trying to save me money, but if I had to do it over, I would choose a slightly higher grade granite to match what I had; It helped to keep the island with the original granite intact, and it all blends nicely. Working with
and his capable crew turned what seemed like an overwhelming job in the beginning into a rewarding, satisfying endeavor. The time to complete the project took longer than initially discussed, but part of that was due to my own revisions. I highly recommend them.

Not really.  If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed.  A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place.  Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now.  The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place.  Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this.  If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall.  Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops.  If you do, dig in and research him well.  He likely doesn't have enough experience.

IF dirty enough to make for a musty odor, then paint won't stick to them properly anyway. Paint is not your solution - you probably need a Deep Cleaning. Try to pin down what types of smell it is - if damp, mildewy; rotten food; or musty fabric - will help guide you to the source maybe. Another thing to do is keep all doors closed for a full day when outside temp is such that furnace and A/C can be turned off - then walk around the house, sniffing - preferably with 2 people - and see if one room is the major contributor. I have played this game, and found all the following as sources of musty smells: 1) linen in a closet without ventilation going slightly mildewy 2) water leak in walls or floors enough to cause mold but not drywall staining or visible water 3) carpets needing cleaning 4) water leak in bath or kitchen leaking under floor, causing mold there which is not pronounced in smell because under the flooring 5) attic mildew/mold from leaks or moisture condensation on insulation/wood 6) moldy plants outside - left in garden/flower bed in fall, so rotted in winter/spring 7) clothes in closets touching outside wall, so in very cold weather acted as insulator and let freezing front come to inside of wall, causing frost and moisture to buildup there from the inside moisture, eventually causing mildew/mold (same process as condensation/ice on inside of windows with curtains over them) 8) failure to clean behind kitchen appliances and under sink, or under washer/dryer/dishwasher at least when repaired or changed out 9) heavy lint accumulation in bathroom fan going mildewy 10) grease trap in kitchen exhaust fan never cleaned 11) washing machine going moldy - run a cycle of towels or such with bleach and Borax 12) the number one cause I have found - clothes stacked in closets or hope chests or such for decades get very musty even if clean and ventilated

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.

When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

Cabinet Making reviews in Brighton

The team at
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
did a great job on our new kitchen. We struggled to find a provider that would allow us flexibility to design a layout that fit our needs without paying for a full set of custom cabinets.
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
assisted with design and helped walk us through our decision making process. We were able to make a few custom modifications where needed while enjoying the price point of a primarily stock set of cabinets. The final installation looks great and matched our original quote exactly. While we only used

Work by contractor was finished late in 2014; but we have waited to see how things hold up,. The answer is excellent.

and Mats did excellent work in the kitchen. Old, yellow pine circa 1950s kitchen was updated. Cabinet boxes of 3/4" plywood were in good shape so refacing was chosen. New look was maple, paint grade wood in a Shaker design. Paint color was chosen to correlate with living room trim. Several samples on the actual wood to be used were viewed before the final color choice was made. Glass inserts were added in some upper cabinets and new, antique bronze hardware was selected. All has held up very, very well these past 9 months. Cabinets clean up easily and open easily; all still look excellent.
As designer, Ms.

helped us in selection of materials and colors, and never pushed us to make quick choices.
As contractor, Ms.

did excellent work. Work above and beyond cabinet door replacement meant subcontracting for electrical, HVAC, countertops, painting, and roofing. All subcontractors were on time as set by Ms.

We started our kitchen renovation project by finding new cabinets we loved, but we needed a contractor who could do demo and installation for us. After getting estimates from a few contractors, we decided to hire
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
based on reviews we found here and a good first impression. Dilyan did a great job managing our project and he and his friendly crew worked hard to stay on schedule.
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was extremely helpful and patient in guiding us through the process of shopping for countertops, going out of her way to meet us, help us shop, and put up with a bit of indecision on our parts. They were both always very responsive, organized, knowledgeable, and kept us up to date on progress. Living in a construction zone can be tough, but the crew did a great job keeping things as tidy as possible.
We are very happy with the final result of our renovation. The installation was done neatly and professionally. The entire project took under three weeks, which was faster than any other contractor estimated. We would definitely hire

He still owes me about $4500 after small claims court and an appeal. He has not paid. I have been forced to put liens on his property and attempt a bank
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
. He appears to have closed his account.
He built the vanity first. It looked great, but when I touched it the paint job was rough. He put up an argument about taking it back to the painter because he'd already paid for it. I insisted and the painter fixed it, no problem. When we went to put the vanity in, it was approximately 3 inches too large to fit in the opening - he had measured incorrectly. His first solution was that I should move the pony wall. I told him that would not work because that would mean I'd have to redo the floor. Then he cut a few inches off each side and brought it back - it was no longer centered. I (not he)
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
up a revised plan and he fixed it. It was just a bit too small for the opening - we fixed that with trim.
After this experience, I let him know that due to the quality of his work and his lack of concern with customer satisfaction, I felt it was better that we just settle up for the vanity and go our separate ways. He had requested, and I had foolishly given him, half down ($8000) to start on the project. He said he was almost done with the kitchen island, so I agreed to pay for that too. We agreed verbally that he would provide me with costs for the two pieces and then reimburse me the remainder of the $8000. That occurred in November 2014, I believe. He provided me with an estimate for the island, but not for the vanity (that he brought to court - backdated).
He ignored my calls, didn't follow through on agreements and commitments. Eventually, I heard through mutual acquaintances that he was going to drop materials off at my house because he wasn't going to reimburse me at all. I had to take him to small claims court. He appealed. I won both times. I still have not seen a penny of the ~$4500 awarded.

Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
did such a wonderful job with our bathroom cabinetry years ago, when it came time to purchase a cabinet for our home office, we immediately called
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
The process was flawless from beginning to end. Within a couple of days of our request for a cabinet,
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
came over to determine our needs and desires, take measurements and make sketches.
Within a few days, we received an email of the design. Once we agreed to the design, they worked on providing an estimate of materials and labor. After the cost and design were agreed upon, they procured the materials.
Again, within a very short time we were contacted for installation. They were happy to work within our schedule. The installation and cleanup was very professional, providing us with quality workmanship.
Everyone at
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
was professional and pleasant, and we highly recommend them.

It was not pleasant!
The kitchen was measured twice, once by
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and once by her husband…apparently neither was done accurately. When
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
wanted to make changes she did so off of her design, not by coming to the house to show me what the changes would do. I had made very clear that I wanted a corner carousel cabinet…it was not incorporated into the design and I was unaware of this until the cabinets were installed…she left a huge unusable space…in a small kitchen. After the cabinets arrived and I had made the final payment she appeared to have little interest in the kitchen or design. I asked her to come by several times to brainstorm ideas to correct problems but she did not come. She did send her husband once. In asking him why several nail holes were not filled at the factory and what could be done about it he raised his voice and said that if I wanted perfect cabinets I should have ordered custom cabinets. Shortly afterward he was told to leave the house as his temper was flaring.
All problems were solved thanks to the creative thinking and superb craftsmanship of my contractor…

I was extremely happy with all of the aspects of my job. The price was great and the service even better. They had the exact cabinets I was looking for and worked with me to design my space and make my kitchen more functional. Within a few weeks my cabinets arrived and were installed. After that they measured and installed my granite complete with a free sink! My new kitchen looks amazing. Thank you
Brighton Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
for all your hard work. I will definitely be recommending you guys in the future!

Very friendly and professional people. Did an excellent job with installation of cabinets and of countertops. We met with office personnel initially and Andi created a design that made our kitchen more efficient and organized. We moved the

and dishwasher in different places. They do not do electrical or plumbing but that was okay. My husband did all of that. We are very pleased with the results.
