"They did the job on time and for a good price. It was prompt and I was very happy. I had them remove all the materials (but not grind the stump). I'd recommend" them and use them again in a heartbeat.

"
arrived at my home early and started to work immediately. All of the men were professional and also very helpful with any questions that" I had. I have used them before and will use them again. I am very pleased with their work and my neighbors always comment on the beautiful job they do on the trees. It takes an exceptional company for me to write a review and I would highly recommend this company. Thank you for a job well done !!

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Being an established customer,

notified me that it was time for overwintering insects. I set up an application date and that was it. I arrived home just as

It's hard to find professional people nowadays. I called J&W, a person actually answered the phone someone came out and gave an estimate $300 to $500 cheaper than two other companies. We set a date, they showed up on time took out the whole tree and grinded the stump before noon. Removed a part of my fence to get the machine in and put the fence back as it was. I was pretty impressed that they took the whole pile of mulch with them. Last time I had stumps grinded, they left the pile which was a nightmare to get rid of.. J&W did an immaculate cleanup.

Friendly sales person arrived within appointment window, called ahead too. Showed him work I wanted and walked the property looking at other trees. I had questions about insects and disease on any other trees. He then proposed cutting down nearly every pine tree 8 out of 12 telling me that the number of pine

on the trees indicated they were all stressed and going to die. The remaining 4 pines should be cut down to give room for the other hard wood trees. Then he proposed cutting down a health cherry tree because it had a lean toward the house (not over, just towards). I decided I would save my money for when a tree was actually in need of being cut down. I needed a dead tree removed and this guy was looking to practically clear cut my lot. His price was much better than

Tree's quote for $2800. 404-CUT-TREE won my business and did a great job for $1050 and didnt see the need to cut down all the pines. He did say one large oak would fill out really well if a couple of the closest pines were removed.

need to be recognized for their eagerness to be punctual in communication and process. They explained my options and worked with me on scheduling around a busy schedule. I interviewed several companies, some higher priced, some lower priced, but they won it on service and being real people. I am in a service industry and they exceeded my expectations. Thanks

We had a severe storm and a willow tree was hanging over the house. I was home alone and felt I needed to get someone here as soon as possible. My husband said to look in the yellow pages. DJs tree service was one of the first listed. I called them. I have to say, they came within the hour and cut the tree down, which took about an hour. Then gave me a sad song about how busy they were and didn't not have time to clean up. The backyard was a mess. And then the shocker. Because it was a necessity and I was in shock of the thought of the tree falling on the house, I neglected to get a proposed price. But that was not a reason to gouge me! When I got the checkbook out and asked them how much I owed, the owner blurted out, "$2,750"!!!!!! I tried to challenge him, but again he gave me a song and dance about how they responded quickly! As I said, I was home alone and there was four guys, so I didn't feel comfortable not paying it. To this day, my husband has to listen to me complain about the bill. I contacted the BBB, and they said they would not get involved with issues regarding price gouging.

The work was done professionally and all the debris was removed. It took a little longer than anticipated but with all the hauling and the limited space that was OK with me. The original estimate was the final price. Job well done!

This was not the first time I have had

mulch my property. I have called them back because they always leave my property looking its best. I've had other companies do mulching for me but these folks are the only ones who actually cleared the weeds and edged the beds rather than just putting down some mulch. Their work makes maintaining my garden so much easier.

was very courteous and professional. Because we wanted only one large tree cut back, I think it worked that we were flexible with times so that he and his crew could fit us in around larger/regular jobs that he had commitments to. The tree work was done as asked and everything was hauled away. I appreciated the follow up phone call that
