"Brought this company back to install a 3rd ceiling fan in a bedroom at my house. They had already installed 2 successfully so I thought it was an obvious choice" to bring them back to install a 3rd. However, it was a disaster. This time the owner
showed up for the install not the gentleman who installed the previous two perfectly. He quickly installed in about an hour showed my pregnant wife that the
was running and bolted on to the next job. When i got home I checked the ceiling fan and it was not secured in place and rocked back and forth while making a squeaking noise when the cords were pulled. I called
and explain he situation. Immediately he was defensive and claimed there was nothing he could do because he installed the fan the right way. I actually sent him video of all three fans in my house that are the same model and all were installed by his company. The two the other gentleman installed were perfect and secure to the ceiling. The video then showed his fan and how it rocked back and forth. At that time he text me and said he would come back out the following week to check it. I have called and texted him repeatedly to set up a time for the visit and have gotten no response. I guess he feels that since he gave a discount to a return customer he doesn't need to make sure that customer is satisfied and the job is done right. Homeowner beware and stay away from this guy. You get what you pay for seriously. Will be contacted the BBB and my lawyer over a terrible $65 dollar install.

-Willie C.

"I selected compose material, which I purchased (not cheap but, guaranteed for 25 years and already painted). It takes skilled craftsmen to install this type of" material. The finished product turned out great. All my neighbors and people walking on the sidewall in front of my house give me wonderful compliments. It changed the profile of the house and increased value of my home. They have done a lot of work for me over the past 3 years. All of my projects are completed in a timely matter and on budget

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

COOL!!!  Someone who asks a question actually responds.  Rare.  Love it.  Let us know how things work out.

Handyman reviews in Raymond

The person doing the work was very professional, did a great job, and a pleasant person to work with, however. I found
Raymond Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
rated as 1 on Angie's List, they had a coupon for $400 handyman for a day. I paid online, then contacted them to schedule a meeting to have them come give me an estimate on how much they could do in a day, I had 6 things on my punch list. They told me the first available time they could come out was 3 weeks away. If I knew they were so backed-up I would have moved onto the next handyman, but since I had already paid I accepted it. The person who showed up was on time, was professional, and captured everything. He told me how long he thought the work would take and that they needed a longer normal ladder for the roof work and that it would be a two person job, because of fixing a garage door panel. He stated then he thought it would take about 6 hours to do all the work and if they got done early they would power wash my deck. I asked him more than once if I should/could get the supplies so everything would be on-site when they arrived. He told me there was no need they would get everything at Home Depot and even if I bought it all ahead of time there probably would be some missing accessory, etc. and they would have to go to Home Depot anyway. At the end of the meeting he called his scheduler and notified me that it would be FOUR WEEKS before they could do the work. Now I'm very disappointed I paid for the coupon, who expects to wait almost 2 months to get
Raymond Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
repairs made!!! I was told the handymen would arrive at 8AM. I said they will arrive at 8 or leave the office at 8 or...? He assured me they would be there at around 8, depending on traffic, etc. Seven weeks after I order, I'm up and ready and having coffee on my porch at 7:45 waiting. At 8:30AM I call the office to ask if I have the wrong date or if there is some other mix up. The representative who answers tells me the person is scheduled to arrive at 9AM. He shows up and tells me he did not have long enough ladder to reach the roof. The shingles are my number one task on my list. He asks me if I have the shingles, I tell him the estimator noted he the handyman would get it at Home Depot. He tells me that is not correct if he is going to get the shingles he needs to pick them up at a place that specializes in roofing so they match and it's 2 hours away one-way. Now I'm p*****. The handyman notes I'm upset and very professionally lets me know he will do the other work and pick up the shingles after and come back in a few days to install them, with no extra time added to the estimate for all the travel. OK, not that I wanted to wait even more days, but at least I feel better I'm not going to be charged to drive 4 hours to buy the shingles I had already offered to supply. I show him the additional tasks and he does not have the garage door on his list. I show him what the work was and he notes there was another item on the list he got but it said fix panel and did not say garage door. He then informs me he cannot do the garage door, that's a different person. He also tells me with the other work and the roof he thinks it will take him 6 hours. OK, so I still have 2 hours left. He informs me the coupon Handyman for a Day is for a 6 hour work day, not 8. I assume that's in the small print, so shame on me for not seeing it. He does the other work and finishes in about 4 hours. He did a great job. He tells me from the pictures the estimator took and notes he can probably do the roof work in 2 hours. He told me he would get the shingles tomorrow or the next day and that the scheduler would call me in 2 days to reschedule him coming out. I ask him if I have to wait 4 more weeks for him to come backand he assures me no they will get it scheduled at the end of the week or beginning of the next. One week goes by and no call from the scheduler. I call the office and we play phone tag. When I get the scheduler I'm told the handyman can come out in two days. Also, she tells me he will be there at 6AM, because he wants to get the work done before it gets too hot to do roof work. I say "he will arrive at 6AM or leave the office or his home at 6AM?". She tells me he will be there at 6AM. I tell her about the first visit when I was told 8AM and then the answer changed. She confirmed a second time he would absolutely be there at 6AM. At 6AM I'm up, showered, ready for his arrival. At 6:30 I call the office, of course the office is closed, I leave a voice mail noting I was told 6AM and no one has come. I never got a call back, ever. The handyman showed up about 7:30. I told him about the 6AM schedule and he apologized and stated he told the office he would leave his house at 6AM. It took him more than 2 hours to do the roof, so my 6 hours of a Handyman for a Day was done. I heard him working, saw him make multiple trips up and down the ladder, I heard the pounding. He showed me pictures he took while up there and how the roof was in worse condition than first thought. I understand the work took longer than 6 hours, so I had to pay another $350. The handyman did a great job and I would definitely recommend him personally. However, I do not expect to ever use
Raymond Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
again. I do not want to wait 8 weeks to get my roofed fixed or any other home repair. I don't like they tell me one thing and I get a different thing. I don't like that their business is to do repairs yet they cannot pass on the garage door task and though I'm told it will take two people because of the garage, they only send one and a person who can't fix the garage. I don't like that I offer to buy the supplies and I'm told no worries and then it turns into a big deal and delays the work. This is there business, how can they mess up such a core piece of what they do? I really don't like they tell me one time, I verify the time more than once and they still can't make the time they tell me.

No response after initial contact, not even a note saying they are not interested. Not sure why I am paying for a service that has as much

Found his website and called. I got an immediate response. He gave me a quote for the job and we set a time/date. He was delayed and called to let me know ahead of time! He arrived and promptly began the work. He needed an additional tool so he had to leave to get it. He apologized for having to leave the job. He returned shortly and completed the work! No additional costs or changes from the original quote. He got the materials for me and did the work!
I am very satisfied and have asked him to return to work on other items around my home. I am very pleased to have a new handyman! He was polite, professional and most of all HONEST!

- Richard S.

First communication occurred to say that he had no time for about 8-10 weeks, I responded noting that that was ok as

were working with a designer for the layout and cabinets, no response….I gave another shout out to him to see if he was willing to come out and quote us on demo and instillation….6 weeks later still no response. Was about to get to professionals to come out and quote the price….Would not call on him again.

and his team worked on my house for 3 days and did a good job fixing up the outside of my home. The shed looks like it is brand new and being able to open the screen door without having to "shoulder" it open and closed is fantastic! The guys were respectful & courteous. Even though it took

He was very nice and did his job efficiently. He had the tools I asked for even though I think taking out the tree was a bit out of his normal work detail. It wasn't a lot of work, but pressure washing takes time. I am was there by myself and he wasn't the slightest bit creepy, that was a nice change. lol..
