"Great customer service and a great deal! The roofer and the office team were incredibly good to work with. Thank you for the work!

"THe representative, Mr.
, at the beginning was great. While we were signing the contract and even while the job was taking place he was very" attentive. His employees, not so good. Very sloppy, NO respect towards any plants, decor or lighting around the roof or yard. Broke many plants, a spot light and worst of all, they left a hole in the side of roof. I asked Mr.
when they would come and repair the hole, and he said Friday, March 13th. It is now March 18th and I still have not heard from Mr.
or any one in this company! They asked for the check (I had to make the check to the owners name so they could pay their employees) came to pick it up at my office and once they cashed it immediately. After this, I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN! NO response to calls or texts. Took the money and dissapeared! I still have my hole and my plants are dead. I had two more families interested in this company to change their roofs. It goes without saying they will NOT be using this companies services. The representative was very nice, cooperative and a gentlemen while signing our contract. While the job was being performed, M

Wondering if you need to replace your old roof with a new one? A highly rated northwestern Indiana roofer shares seven signs to help determine if you need a new roof.

Before you hire a roofing company, whether for a roof repair, roof replacement, new roof or roof inspection, be sure to ask these helpful questions.

A new roofing system protects your house investment as well as all the things you treasure under the roof.

Highly rated roofing contractors factor in several variables when determining the cost of a new roof. A roof's size and pitch, and type of roofing materials are the most important factors.

Wow, i aum surprised you didn't get 10 answers already with roofers say X was the best or N was the best or A was the best. In reality you are focusing on the WRONG THING!

5 estimates? Why 5? Why would you do that to yourself? Normally if you are dealing with reputable companies you don't need more than 2 estimates. I advocate to people to always get at least two estimates and if the roofers are saying something very different or if the roofers are way way way off in price, get an equalizer, get a 3rd.  Obviously if you don't trust a roofer disqualify that roofer immediately.  I beliee you have now fallen into "Analysis Paralysis" which is what happens when you have too many opions.

But back to the topic, I said you are focusing on the wrong thing. Why did I say that? Because you can take the best shingle in the world and if installed wrong is compeltely garbage. i can take the worst shingle, known to fail, and if installed properly will last some ammount of time. So you should focus on the roofer, not the product. The roofer is more important and a good quality roofer will only want to install good quality product.

The roof is a system comprised of many components, not just the shingles. You have the water proofing underlayment such as ice shield, the water resistant underlayments such as felt. You have the shingles, the ventilation and the flashing details. All of these things add up to equal one roof. Neglect one and your roof is doomed to fail.

But the roof is more than just product it is detail, know how and heart. Heart? yes heart. It takes the utmost CARING the utmost DESIRE to want to install a good roof. It's hard work and easy to fall into the train of thought as to do what's easier, instead of what's faster.  Faster and easier seldom ever equals better. At the end of the day you ened a roofer that cares about your roof.

So what product is best? That's hard to say. Each manufacturer has multiple plants and it seems each plant puts out varying levels of quality. I will tell you in my area Atlast is known as a cheap commodity shingle. I have Tamko Heritage on my house but I stopped using it because I was having seal failue issues and at the time they offered no contractor certification program, but I hear they started up one. Ownes corning is a decent product backed by a great company. I don't install very many OC's though. I primarily install CertainTeed Landmark shingles and my feeling is that they are the best on the market in my area. I'm sure others will disagree with me.

But don't miss the point, the roofer is more important than the shingle.

I appreciate the fact that with homeowners like you who want to beat the insurance co out of deductibles, so then my rates and every other homeowners rates can also go up just to save you.....Thanks for NOTHING..[8o|]

Any roofer worth using should be able to do the roof with NO MONEY DOWN.

The only scenario I would ask for a deposit is on a crazy odd ball shingle that had to be special ordered.

?
The question was, Can it be done? The answer is yes. The real question is "Should" it be done? The answer is, no, not unless it is an emergency.   But also let's clarify winter, because we are having a pretty mild winter, so there's kinda not a problem this year so far. I'll refrence "below freezing" from this point forward.

As a certified and licensed roofing contractor, my reputation is on the line. I debate this topic quite often with other roofing contractors who seem to care more about profit than a job well done.  Well, I can tell you from past experience having been a professional roofer for 14 years as of the time of this posting, that the chance for failure increases exponentionally when installed below freezing.  It's better just not to risk it.

Personally I will not, unless absolutely necessary and the customer signs a disclaimer of limited liability, install a roof below freezing and really really want to install the roof at 40 or above. The shingles need to seal, and will not seal unless they warm to about 70 degrees F ambient temprature. This does not mean it needs to be 70 outside, because the shingles will warm from the sun.

So what can be done to install the roof below freezing? Well first, the roof should not be gun nailed below freezing. This is because the shingles become brittle and it's easier to "blow through" with your nails. It's also harder to regulate air pressure when it is cold, I speculate because of barometric pressures, but I am just guessing.  Therefore the roof should be hand nailed. This takes more time. Furthermore since the seal strips will not seal, they must be manually sealed with proper compatible adhesives. This will also take more time, and more material. I once spoke with a roofer in Alaska who builds tents around the houses he is working on and covers them with tarps and heats with propane heaters.  Now that takes real time!    The question is, are you prepared to pay for this extra time? Can you wait a few more weeks?

I asked them to come out and look at my house to see if it qualified for the BIG DEAL. Was told that it was too many square feet, and too many layers. The price was almost double the BIG DEAL. I ended up doing the job myself. In so doing, I discovered that there was only one

of shingles, and that the square footage was within the range of the BIG DEAL.

We needed a new roof and wanted the work done fast. They arranged to do the work within three days. They showed up worked all day and completed the job on the day they started. The work was excellent and they cleaned everything up after they were done. We dealt with

was simply wonderful!
I was in a jam to quickly get the issues assessed and repaired since I was selling my home and placed on a tight response time by the potential buyers. D&S quickly responded, evaluated the issue, provided a quote, and repaired the damage. I believe the whole process took less than five days (this includes my initial contact to them). They were able to match the siding perfectly and their response was lightening fast.
They are a smaller local company, which I love being able to support, with outstanding customer service. If you want someone who can respond quickly and do a fantastic job at a reasonable price for siding, gutter, or roofing repairs, this is the team you want to work with. They are simply outstanding!

was great. I called after hours and he immediately returned my call. It wasn't an emergency but we had just received word from our Realtor that the inspection indicated a severe mold/moisture issue. He set an appointment for the following morning and when he thought he was going to be 10 minutes late, he let me know. He came in and did a complete visual inspection and explained everything he saw to me. He then took readings of the moisture levels in all areas of concern. He sent me pictures of all the readings on his meter to show that they were all normal. He answered all my questions and explained all the options. He followed up with me that day with an estimate and an explanation of the meter readings. He could have sold me a lot of work based on what the inspector had said but he didn't. He was very honest and upfront with what little work needed to be completed. Would use him again.

Excellent. He was fast - came and evaluated problem the day after I called and had it fixed in a day. No problems at all. The water leak was fixed - heavy rain a few days later and no leak. Was just easy. Professional. Would definitely use again for any roofing problem.

We were stupid.

and his team replaced our roof in
Hampden Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
2014 and told us to make sure to rake snow off of our flat roof especially but also to try and prevent ice dams. We did not and in Feb 2015 we had a leak from our flat roof. We noticed it at 4AM on a weekday and called
Hampden Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
to leave a message and get some prompt attention. He called back at 5AM and was at our house by 7AM the same day. We did not expect or ask for this kind of attention. He cleaned off the flat roof and then cleared some areas on the rest of the roof to encourage melting ice to go around ice dams. No charge! He showed us what he did and told us to get a roof rake. Then he offered to have his team come out in the next few days to remove all of the snow from the roof for a very reasonable price. We jumped on the offer and his team came out 2 days later. They tried to come out the next day but it snowed again. On the day they came out we were dreading coming home to piles and piles of snow and ice surrounding our house that we would have to remove. Imagine how elated we were when we saw that not only was out roof spotless but the cleared a path all of the way around our house so we could get to all of our doors and our oil and propane tank. Shoveled right down to the ground.
We are so impressed with
Hampden Roofing Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team. They have consistently gone over and above what we could possibly expect. We are very grateful to them for helping us out but also for not making us feel stupid for getting ourselves in the predicament in the first place. Very kind and respectful. We highly recommend them for any roofing job.
