"Please reconsider taking a loved one to this facility. If you have other options, don't choose this one. Insect problem, understaffed, poor communication, and" failure to provide basic level of care. A family member went unchanged for over 12 hours after repeatedly requesting assistance.

-Ben A A.

"They are outstanding. Their response is very good and excellent facility. The staff is very courteous. They dedicate more care to the folks there than I have seen" in other facility. The environment is more conducive to someone for assisted living and it is not so much like a hospital. They feel more like they are in a studio apartment type of thing. They are pretty good to folks.

Nursing homes

Placing a loved one in a nursing home can prove a difficult task for any family. Facilities provide a higher level of skilled care than what’s available at home or in assisted living facilities.

Elder Care reviews in Dexter

I would not recommend this hospice to anyone wanting quality care. The first 3 weeks we saw a nurse one time, Only once did anyone ever come and bathe her. We were with them at least a month and a half.
They seldom sent anyone out unless badgered by phone. During our last crisis, we called and called, and all they did was keep telling us give her more meds. Give her more. Not once did anyone come to the house even though there was an on duty person. She finally ended up by ambulance to inpatient as she had, had so little care from them.

Their facility is a little bit dated looking. It is not quite the freshest and brightest place one could imagine. I think they are probably kind of on the border of minimally staffed visits. It always seems like there's a bit of a wait for things when I need help. They just don't have much more than staff that they can barely get by with. Some of the communication between the administration and the people trying to look after the care of their family members is a little bit hard sometimes. It's hard to get in contact with the right people or to get them to respond very quickly to the questions or to things that need to be investigated.

My sister passed away September 7th of this year at
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
and to be honest, I have some serious reservations about her passing as hospice thought she had several months but two days after I signed the hospice paperwork, she suddenly died and NO ONE CALLED ME until she had passed. Someone at this facility stole her wedding rings off her body in the short time before she was transferred to the funeral home and they have done NOTHING TO LOCATE THEM.
Since that time, I have had a difficult time getting the nursing home to return the money I put in trust for my sister. When I finally did receive a check a month after I requested it, the CHECK BOUNCED. My bank submitted the check twice and it bounced both times and I was also charged fees by my bank because they wrote me a bad check.
I have called and left messages, they will not return my phone calls. Finally, I called and got a nurse on the phone who went and tracked down a "
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
" to talk to me who is responsible for returning the funds and she lied and said she didn't put the money in there until Thursday,
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
4th, the same day the check bounced the second time. Why would you write a check dated October 30, 2014 and not put the money in the account until December 4??? iT WAS MY MONEY THAT I GAVE THEM, IT SHOULD HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AVAILABLE. Then I spoke with
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
who is the administrator and she assured me that she would get "corporate" to send me a check. This conversation occurred on 12/8. I gave her a week and no check. This is not money for services I rendered, this is money I gave them to hold in trust. This money should never have been touched by anyone!!!!
I've done some research into

with a business address of 920 Ridgebrook Road, Sparks, Maryland and a phone number of 817-804-5200 which is a Texas area code not a Maryland area code. The Maryland address on google shows an office building.
Also, I was suppose to receive a monthly accounting of the balance in that trust fund and I never received even one statement from them. I believe they also received a large sum of money from my sister's prior nursing home which was Green Acres located at 2000

Street, Baytown, Texas. This money has never been accounted for and I believe was somewhere around $5000.00.

My experience with them was very good. A friend of mine was there for about six months and they were very good. I am very happy with them. I would just recommend that place. They had very good physical therapists and nurses. The food was good and the administration was good and caring.

I will definitely recommend
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
to colleges and relatives with aging seniors in their family. I came across
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
after a discussion I had with discharge planner at my mothers rehab center. They had informed us on this type of service and how it will greatly impact our process in locating a great care facility for my mom. After our experience I can see why the discharge planner urged us to use them. Along with the referral from the rehab center and the assistance we received from
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
we were very pleased. After my mother recently fell in her home and was no longer able to remain independent. It's been hectic on all of us. From doctor appointments, family visits, rehab centers, billing..etc. The whole process was getting stressful. Once I found out the insurance coverage would go out soon for the rehab center and my mothers discharge date was coming up. I knew I'd have to repeat the process all over again of countless phone calls and setting appointments. We already could not dedicate enough time for my mother and now we had to also

for a care facility.

From the first phone call we had till when my mother was moved in we were treated like family. Our representative who handled our
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
was professional, respected my mother and had an answer to all of our questions. I was able to simply tell
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
exactly what we were looking for. They spent a few minutes with us initially over the phone and took time to see exactly what we were looking for. We answered their questions and when we got off the phone we felt relieved, for the first time. We felt as if we outsourced all of our stresses to

. We were able to focus on my mother and get back to what was more important.

got back to us within hours and had a list of facilities within our area with current vacancies and estimated costs. They also informed us about the reviews regarding the facility, management and staff.

Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
followed up on their promises and my mother is very happy with her care facility.

We still can't believe this service was completely free for us. They treated our process with such professionalism and dedication!

I highly recommend this service if you are looking for care options for yourself or for someone in your family!

When I called to talk to the facility, everything sounded good on the phone. I needed to get in to a
Dexter Nursing Home Facilities Provider Name Locked
hospital as I was being discharged from the main hospital in Hunstville. In a nutshell, the physical therapy and occupational therapy are excellent. They have good therapists who know what they are doing. I found myself being able to walk again within a couple of days. If I was rating the facility based only on therapy it would be an A+. The facility is modern and clean and the rooms are small but functional. I had a private room with a TV and bath. The nursing care leaves something to be desired. While the nurses are all very friendly and try, it was my experience that if you needed anything, you would have to follow through on your own several times. One big negative is that while a patient, I felt as though I was relagated to the role of a child. I had to get permission to go smoke, which is only granted at a certain time, and I had to go with a group from the convalescent hospital. The real negative at this facility is the quality of the food. I have eaten at many assisted living facilities and with no doubt, the food here is far sub-standard to anything that I have seen in the industry. I almost felt as though food service was an afterthought, after building the facility, as there is not even a kitchen to be seen. I am guessing that the food served is the processed, low quality, sub-standard junk that does not require much preparation. I think it is fair to say that this place has never seen a freshly prepared meal. I was here at Thanksgiving and it was the absolute worst food I have ever had. Every time I thought the food quality had hit a new low, they would surprise me by serving another meal. To me, the quality of food shows a big disconnect on the part of management. There is no way anyone with pride of ownership would allow this food to continue to be served. Not only is the food absolutely terrible, but all food is served on disposable plates with plastic utensils. On one occasional, they brought me a tray, put it on the table, and walked away. After walking away, she turned around and said, "Oops, wrong table," picked up the food they had served to me, and proceeded to give it to another patient. Gross!!! With the cost of staying at this facility being over 400% that of the average cost of assisted living, I can almost gaurantee that if you gave someone with experience a budget in line with the charges that the food quality could be quite good.
- Phil K.

they were terrible. She would have died if I had left her there. I had to ask them to open up her food items for her and ask her if she needed help eating. I had to ask them to keep her diaper changed. I had to ask them to change her clothes when she threw up on them. The care was terrible. The doctor never contacted me. The nurse in charge of her case didn't seem to know that she was not eating and she was throwing up every day. When ever I saw her in physical therapy she was sitting in her wheelchair with her face on her hand. The care there was awful.
