"The job was done by
( including the owner
) over the course of two days. The first day, while they arrived a half" hour late, they did a fair job repairing and repainting the cracks in the ceiling. The second day, however, not even close. After completing the work the quality told me all I need to know about this company and the owner,
. There is a reason his company has received several poor ratings and I was unfortunate enough to experience first hand why. For starters, they arrived over an hour late with no explanation as to why. Next, they prepared the walls for retexturing and repainting. The texturing was to match the other walls that needed no repairs. They obviously and admittedly did not know what they were doing! You might be asking yourself admittedly? Yes,
told me they didn't know how to retexture but could do something that would be comparable. That was a complete and utter lie. The work was shoddy at best and that's being generous. Moreover, they clearly didn't know how to paint and blend it to the already painted surface. In addition, they missed several spots. Not only that, in one spot it literally looks as if someone took a can of spray paint and covered a section of the wall. So now I have a massive spot on my wall that is much darker than the original color. After the work was completed, I could tell it didn't look right. When I brought that to
's attention, he told me not to worry that it just needed to dry and it would look a lot different in the morning. Well, morning came and I was met with an eyesore so I immediately called him. He asked me if I was going to be home all day and when I told him I would. He assured me he would come by and take a look at it. Guess what? He never showed up. By this point I had it. I called my bank and sure enough he had already cashed my check. By then, I knew I had been taken. The work
did speaks for itself and the poor reviews back it up. I am very disappointed the owner didn't come back and at least try to right what he and his company messed up in the first place. I strongly urge anyone reading this review to consider the alternatives before agreeing to allow
to do your repairs.

and his father did a fantastic job. We didn't know why our wall was bowing, they uncovered the cause which could have been much worse," fixed it and patched up the wall. They were prompt on arrival, cleaned up after each day and charged us exactly what was quoted. The wall never looked better! Would recommend their work to anyone!

Drywall and plaster

Knowing how your interior walls are constructed and what they are made of can help you take better care of your home, as well as provide effective maintenance. You can make small repairs yourself, but the more extensive the job the more likely you'll need a drywall repair contractor to make the wall smooth again.

Medium-sized holes can be patched in much the same way as smaller holes, but will require a patching kit to ensure a smooth finish. (Photo by Eldon Lindsay)

You may prefer the lived-in look, but a hole in the wall makes your home look a little too lived in. A pro tells how to repair a hole yourself and save money.

My sister-in-law uses brite white toothpaste and rubs it into those small holes. No prep, no sanding.

I've used wall liner (it applies like wallpaper only thicker) to cover a multitude of "wall sins" over the years. In my opinion it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it's inexpensive, non-labor intensive and not messy to install.

I used it for the first time about 15 years ago to cover a faux brick tile on my lower kitchen walls that couldn't be removed. It was either tear the wall down or take a chance on $40 worth of wall liner. It did the job beautifully and lasted. Since then I've used it to cover paneling, a badly gouged wall after a kitchen remodel and a wall that looked like a pegboard after floor to ceiling shelving was removed.

Friends and family (and realtors!) have been amazed by the transformation after applying this simple inexpensive product.

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

Drywall Repair And Installation reviews in Cumberland Foreside

After two separate incidents, back to back, of pipes bursting and re-piping my entire home- I called for several estimates for the walls and ceilings to be fixed. I chose

Some of our old popcorn finished ceilings were peeling in family room and dining room, plus the drywall tape was falling in the garage ceiling. The indoor ceilings included the front hall, living room and dining room that all run together and the family room.
Clay arrived promptly to give the estimate on
Cumberland Foreside Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. 2. It was our choice to schedule in Feb. after the holidays and company. He told us that the garage ceiling would really need a complete renovation due to its condition. Therefore, we decided to do the inside ceilings only. Clay was very clear about what the men would do and what we needed to do. We accepted the estimate and scheduled the work.
The popcorn removal crew arrived at time and date as scheduled, about 8:15-30 on Monday. They were polite, careful and thorough. They covered our driveway and sidewalk, as well as walls and floors with plastic and went to work. They were finished by noon and ceiling looked better already even without the paint. Everything was clean and neat. I noticed a couple of places with a bit of plaster which was quickly wiped away.
The painters arrived early on Thursday, covered floors, furniture and some other things with plastic. They rolled two coats of Kilz ceiling white paint on the ceilings. They were finished by noon and left the remaining paint with us. Very polite, friendly, thorough and neat.
Note: Clay had told us that the wallpaper in the hall might be damaged by the tape holding up the plastic. There were a few spots where a little of the paper did come off. Fortunately, we had extra so can repair it.
We couldn't remember if Clay had mentioned moving shelves away from walls so we called the office and were told that the workers need over 1 1/2 ft clearance. Therefore we moved all the books from some 12" deep shelves. The workers said that wasn't necessary, but now we have sorted books, so that worked out okay.
Clay said his crew wouldn't remove the AC vents, but we wanted the ceiling to be finished under them. We removed and place screws in holes in order to find the holes in case the new texture covered them. That was a wise move. We also pulled the can lights down, but men said they would have done that.
If you stay home during the work, be sure you are able to reach the bathroom and don't plan to cut through the rooms being repaired. They hang plastic over all the doors so you can't cut through.
We would highly recommend

I was very pleased with the process from start to finish. Everyone/Everything was handled very professionally. The field manager was excellent. All questions & concerns were quickly handled.

It took 3 days to dry my home which I thought was pretty quick, the repairs were excellent, but they took a few days longer then I was told which was not that big of a deal because it was only a few days and I know they were busy but compared to the other restoration companies, things happened quickly.

We had one wall in a bedroom that had a BIG hole spanning the entire wall and went through to the bathroom which was on the other side of the wall. Then we had several other random holes in walls that were all over the Apartment. Probably 10 in all. When

came out and gave us a bid, he said it might take him a couple of days to get everything done and gave us a bid. They came out the next day at the time they said they would, brought all the correct materials with them. Started working and were completely finished with the job in 6 hours! They did the drywall, taping, mudding, painting and texturizing all in this time frame. I was completely satisfied with their work, professionalism and skill of what needed to be done. They cleaned up after themselves and were very pleasant and patient with me. I ask lots of questions about how they were going to do things, the background of who they were and what kind of experience they had. No question went unanswered, and they didn't mind if I stopped them at what they were doing to ask more questions. They come highly recommended for quality work, experience and professionalism.

The person that repaired the ceiling was very professional. He arrived on time and after the repairs, he cleaned up everything, didn't leave a single
Cumberland Foreside Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
that he had been here. The painter came back after a few days and painted the ceiling. Again everything was cleaned up and no one would know that the ceiling was painted other than the smell of paint. I was extremely pleased with the results. I would highly recommend them to everyone.
