What's the secret to keeping the water sparkling blue instead of nasty green?
Owning a swimming pool may seem like a dream come true. But others who have gone through the building and servicing process offer cautionary tales.
One of the most confounding problems that swimming pool owners face is water loss.
You will have to find out what your model costs new - looks like they run from about $400 to 1700 depending on size. IF yours is at the lower end, might be just as cheap to replace it, with parts and labor. If not low end, then repair probably works. Typical pricing of components that might have gone out - switch $80, timer/control unit $130, heating element $100 (probably most likely to have failed) - so if only one of these went out, figuring $100-200 labor, probably cheaper to fix it. I would contact your dealer for a better idea.
BTW - here is a Saunatec instruction on maintenance on the heating element and rocks, failure to follow can shorten heating element life, if that is what went out (and probably the simplest to replace) -

I would also like to emphasize the casual and unprofessional nature of this kid. He brought in at least 20 different people over the course of the project to install 1 heat pump. That means 20+ of his boys getting a look at the layout and backways of our property. On a few occasions he even brought over his girlfriend and some of his friends to have lunch at our poolside.
We ended up not paying for the defective heater he installed, but he DID charge us an absurd $7000 for the shoddy "plumbing" work he did. He showed up at our place of business and caused a scene when we disputed the charges.
Beware of this kid.
Billing for regular service on our plan is smooth and they charge right to our credit card.

The first weekly service person who came seemed to know nothing about the pool. We had been out and when we pulled up he was in his truck getting ready to pull away. He stopped and came out when we pulled and we started asking him questions about the pool operation. When we entered the back the polaris vacuum was shut off and he had left the hose running and had been about to leave if we had not pulled up!!! He did replace the bag on our polaris vacuum he spent the next 45 minutes on the phone trying to figure out. He could not answer any of our questions about the different
Billing for non-standard service is a nightmare. On our first visit we had a new bag put on for the polaris vacuum. I am still getting billed incorrectly for it after over a month and multiple emails and phone calls to their AP department. I have been told on multiple occasions it was resolved and yet I still keep getting the bill.
If you have a spa, there's no other company you should be doing business with. I wish I had found them sooner. We would have enjoyed our tub a lot more.
In 2012, I contracted SparklingKleen to replaster my pool using a finish called Stonescapes. Less than three years later, the plaster -- which supposedly carried a "life-time" warranty -- began cracking around the steps and beneath the glass blocks serving as a spillway from my spa. It was clear to me that either the Stonescapes plaster was inferior or that
For more than five months, SparklingKleen performed numerous on-and-off again treatments, including acid-washing, in an attempt to prove themselves correct. I allowed the testing to go on for a protracted period because SparklingKleen owner
All during the testing period, neither SparklingKleen nor Stonescapes would discuss their processes or results, unless I pressed them for information. Given the behavior of the companies during the 5-month process, it came as no surprise that the manufacturer refused to honor its warranty and that SparklingKleen -- further demonstrating that it could not be trusted -- sided with the manufacturer to avoid liability and expense.
Going forward, I will continue to share experiences of my relationship with SparklingKleen. Furthermore, my two-toned pool now serves as a showcase for the inferior work the company performs. I would be hard-pressed to recommend SparklingKleen as a contractor, hoping to spare other pool owners the same degrees of aggravation, disappointment and expense that I experienced.
