"
was very helpful in providing information and answering questions that we had about what we needed to have done to the house. The crew that worked on our house" did a good job. We had areas where the original siding had rotted due to rain damage and improper sealing of the windows that we had put in 10 years ago. As the crew replaced the damaged siding with wood, they found that there was some structural damage underneath one of the windows where part of the studs had also been damaged by the rain. Rather than cover over this and let us have problems down the road, they told us about it, and my husband was able to repair the area before the new siding was installed (structural issues were not a part of the contract, so that is why we fixed this ourselves). The crew leader even applied siding to a small vertical area on the roof that previously had only flashing on it. The job took 3 1/2 days to complete. The crew did an outstanding job and our house looks like new.

"We scheduled the work for a cetain date and could not accomplish the task due to inclement weather.
stayed in contact with me to work around the inconvenience" and found a break in the sorms. They (
and his crew) showed up on time as scheduled and began working emmediately. What I thougt would take all day, or possibly two days, was completed by early afternoon of the same day and to my total satisfaction. They are definitely on the front of the line for future work.

"They arrived promptly, completed the job with quality materials and workmanship, and were a pleasure to work with. They double- and even triple-checked the quality of the work. Great" quality control. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

How much does siding cost to replace?

Siding is critical in protecting your home from weather and structural damage. Understand when you need to replace your siding and how much it costs.

Siding tip: Ask your siding installer for samples of grades, colors and textures and view them outside at different times of the day. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Paul E.)

Siding

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

More homeowners are choosing fiber cement over vinyl siding or real wood due to its durability and natural look. Discover other reasons to consider it.

Vinyl siding is durable and easily cleaned. It just takes some elbow grease, or a high-powered pressure washer! Either way, read up on how to best clean vinyl.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

In mid April 2014 my siding on the north side of my house and my roof were damaged in a hail storm. My neighborhood got flooded by contractors and storm chasers, most of them were pushy and unprofessional. I contacted
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
because they sent a
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
flier in the mail.
Apex was quick to send out a field supervisor to assess the damage to give me a quote. The field supervisor made sure that he was present to assist my insurance adjuster and made sure that the adjuster did not overlook any damage.
Once my insurance company cleared the paperwork, Apex had their roofing crew there within a week. The roofing crew made sure to put tarps over my shrubbery and flower gardens. they were quick tearing off the damaged shingles and they managed to get all of the old material into a dump trailer without making a huge mess in the yard. Once the roof was re-shingled, they used leaf blowers to clear the roof and gutters, they rolled up their tarps, picked up any debris left behind and then ran a magnetic sweeper through the entire yard to ensure that there were no nails left behind.
The siding crew arrived on schedule in June and completed their work quickly. There were a couple of mistakes made by the siding crew that was resolved quickly by the field supervisor.
I got to watch my entire subdivision get repaired and I was able to compare the work done by
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
to many other contractors. I feel the quality of work performed was as good or better than the other contractors in the neighborhood, but it was clear that Apex was going out of their way to ensure that my house and I were taken care of.

The whole process went great! Acadian's staff was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. The sales rep was courteous and we didn't feel pressured one bit. They had many styles and colors to choose from and once we settled on what we wanted they began work a few days later. Because of our work schedule we requested a Saturday and they said that wouldn't be a problem. The crew showed up at the time they said they would and got right to work. There's not much else to say except this company is top notch and we will recommend them to everyone. Thank you guys so much, my home looks beautiful!

The complete job involved power washing the barn plus prime and two coats of the finish paint on both the barn and windows. The entire job was accomplished with high quality paint and came out beautifully. The barn is painted in the traditional red and white color scheme however they selected a shade of red, not the typical barn red at the paint supplier, but a red that really enhanced the finished appearance of the barn. All the work was done very professionally and clean up was immaculate. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and will not hesitate to use

I had purchased the maximum wood rot repair deal available on Angie's List when I saw it pop up. I think it was a half off deal for $200 worth of work, which was to cover up to four hours of a single worker, or 2 hours total of two workers. It would have been a wonderful deal - if they had stuck to it.
One of the company's owners came to do an estimate of the work, in advance of sending the workers. He indicated that it would likely take two workers all day to remove the window, do the restoration, then replace the window, and repaint all the new siding. Then he gave me what I took as a worst case scenario price, that I thought looked very fair for all that work, which I assumed would require scaffolding, etc. To have that maximum, worst case price gave me great comfort, and I really looked forward to the guys coming.
A few weeks passed, and with every rain, I started worrying again. With their half-off special, I figured they must have gotten fairly backed up. I finally called them again, and the office worker who answered indicated that they would be coming in the next couple of days. Then one morning,
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
Segritto arrived by himself, and with just a ladder. What an amazing man! He has done this work for years, and he knows it coming and going. He made sure we would be protected on the inside before he went to work on the exterior. Then he ran up the ladder, took it all apart (though I don't think he had to remove the window), popped in the replacement plywood wherever it was needed, sawed up the replacement cedar siding and nailed it in place, then, before I could blink, came asking for my extra paint to paint the new siding and trim. Now, it just seemed to me like the whole thing just took an hour or two. It actually took about three hours and fifteen minutes, with no
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and no scaffold.
I was thrilled. I figured the package I purchased for up to four hours for one worker would cover ALL the labor. We had enjoyed a BEST CASE scenario. I figured we'd need to pay for the materials of course, but that had been estimated to be around $100, so I thought we had really lucked out.
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was wonderful. Since we hadn't gone to four hours, without our asking, he even went back up on the the roof and blew all the leaves off our gutter guards. This guy really aims to please. He even helped us avoid future potential rot problems by doing that.
Then the price tag was presented.
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
said, that regardless of how the job had gone, he had been told that he had to ask for us to pay for the worst case scenario, and he handed us the pre-prepared invoice. I was really shocked. He said I would need to call the office to pay any other amount. So I did, and spoke to the same fellow who had done the estimate.
It was not a pleasant conversation, though I was - on my end. It made me feel that the whole half-off deal was just nonsense. His "estimate" made sure that they would charge much more than even their "normal" rates. If the job had taken the two guys, the scaffold, and most of the day, I would have been very happy to pay even their normal prices - never mind the "deal" I had pre-paid. After a long unhappy conversation, I finally persuaded the owner to allow me, based on their supposed regular prices, to have me pay him for two hours of his own travel time to come to do the estimate, PLUS two hours travel AND actual work time for the worker, plus materials. Not such a great deal - based on what I had thought was the proposition. But it was worth it - given
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
's exceptional skills and lovely personality.
I will gladly hire the company again - assuming
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
is the guy who comes again... AND with a clear communication up front that I will be paying for ONLY what I actually get. If they want to charge $100 for the estimate, if we go ahead with the job, so be it. I just want them tell us up front. It's great to have a worst case scenario cap, and that surely is worth a charge for the estimate. And if they have been doing this for years, I imagine they KNOW pretty well what it will really take. But, I think the final negotiated price was very fair - given
Augusta Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
's abilities and attitude. Just get everything truly on the table BEFORE they do the work, and you can have a pleasant experience from beginning to end.

I asked for a quote to repair the fascia on my home. He asked for photos
of the job-site which I provided via email. He never provided a
quote. If someone is not interested in a job, at the minimum, they
should be courteous enough to let you know that they are not interested.
