Solar Panel Installation reviews in Snow Hill
Subsequent e-mails after the meetings produced a bit more detail concerning the system components, but also pressure to sign the contract. We were unable to get any site planning done unless we signed a contract. In my opinion, the equipment being offered is of very good quality, and my neighbors with similar installations have been satisfied with its performance, however the price charged for a "3 KW system" is about 3 times the retail cost of the equipment alone, and was among the highest bids that I have obtained. We simply chose not to use this company and will continue to
This Co is actually based in
A friendly sales rep came to the house and looked in the attic, and looked at my water heater. She asked to get the average of my utility bills (she listed the wrong utility co. I realized later) . She whipped out several worksheets, . She showed me several formula calculations-plugging in numbers and subtracting numbers- , and made calls to the office in the middle of compiling an invoice of what "packages" i.e. jobs or materials, I would benefit the most on energy savings. She was adding and subtracting columns of numbers faster than I could follow. I realized later, she gave A LOT of vague and inaccurate information and very few, if any, facts.
She subtracted $500 for referrals & letting them put their sign in the yard -- which they never did. After 3+hrs she left. I started to get this uncomfortable feeling . She was selling the tax credits and rebates rather than any of the products, because she would list a very large figure and then subtract the value of a rebate or credit that I could qualify for (or the signs), so the bottom line seemed much smaller --a good deal and "should pay for itself in utility savings over 3-8 yrs" depending on the items. She had a 2013 Form for Fed tax credits on energy efficiency upgrades, but she couldn't actually show the lines that would apply to my attic insulation purchases. She said they were going to be on the 2014 form. They offered to finance the projects too, and ran a credit check on the spot from their office (yes, like I was at a car dealership). I did not Finance, but I guess that is another way they can make more money.
The workers were scheduled to came next morning at 6am, came at 7:30am ( unidentified vehicles)
With staple guns, they lined the attic roof with rolls of heat
The attic insulation and an attic fan install was scheduled a couple days later, but they called and re-scheduled it for another day or 2 later.
In the mean time I was getting worried that I had no information about or Brand names for any of these products, including the attic fan I had agreed on installing. ( She had described it as a turbine fan, which, on second thought, didn't make sense to me ) I kept trying to call the phone # on their brochure and only got a voice mail box. Then I spotted a tiny LOCAL phone number on the bottom of their website and got a live person on the line. I asked about the fan that the salesperson had said was a turbine, He explained it was not a turbine at all, but a solar powered fan (which, of course, gives potential Fed tax credits or utility rebates). I got a brand name from him and having researched that fan and similar ones on-line (retailing $450 tops), I told him I wanted to cancel the Fan+install for $2000, & that dropped my "Core Energy Efficiency Package" from $8,460 down to the $6460 (although now I'm not sure I will qualify for any tax credit or utility rebate).
According to their brochure, after the completion of my "Core Energy Package", they are supposed to send "an independent team of certified professionals" to my home to "preform a whole home energy inspection" and provide me with a "Home Efficiency Report detailing [my] home's energy performance." I called their brochure # and was told to call "my" sales rep to set that up. I have left her 3 voice messeges .One in late June and 2 in
To confirm my suspicions I have checked into rough costs since.
My total was $6460.
Average Cost 2014 to insulate an 1800 Sqft attic re: homewyse .com would be about
-- -Duct work about $400 -$600 - - Subtotal now of $3200. Not sure what a going average in my area would be for the
rebate, themselves or explain you'll get back the Federal Tax credit on your up coming tax return, so you can deduct that amount (approx $2000) off your total though you still pay it to them first.
In hindsight - its the same as raising the prices, before putting something on Sale
I have no complaints with the actual work-installation. I don't, however, know how good the products are (insulation, heat
I cannot say enough about this company. I have never had an easier, more efficient process. Every employee was kind, helpful and easy to work with. If you are thinking of installing solar panels, do yourself and favor and look no further.
IEnver also got us financed with low interest financing. We didn't want to get locked into a 20 year lease or purchase power agreement. Two year phone or cable agreements seem long, but 20 years??? No thank you! We
The only slight problem we had was, the installers were late the first day they were supposed to come out. We called and they did come out, just a little late.
The total cost of our system was about $34,000 but we will get about $10,000 of that back when we do our taxes.
Ed was very professional, on time, honest, did what he said he would do. I highly recommend him!
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
