"Dr. Shobha Sikka examined me and immediately sent me for a trans vaginal ultrasound and to the surgical coordinator to get me on the schedule for a D&C. She had me schedule the surgery because she did not wait for ultra sound results to make sure I was on the schedule. The ultrasound confirmed the need for a D&C and Dr Sikka called me the next day (after the ultrasound) to discuss any questions and confirm that the surgery was needed. Thus the examine and surgery was completed within two weeks. Surgery with Dr Sikka went without any problems.
Dr. Sikka told me after the D&C procedure that that there was probably cancer and the labs would be able confirm that. She called with the lab results a week later and confirmed that I had cancer and should see a surgeo . She recommended I go to Dr. Steren and she got me an appointment the next day.
Dr. Steren saw me the next day as I was squeezed in for an appointment (the receptionist had warned me when I first spoke to her for an appointment that they were very busy that day and that I might well have to wait). It was only 30 min after my "scheduled" appointment before the doctor saw me. He recommended a hysterectomy and thought that the cancer had been caught early. We discussed the procedure, recovery and the possible outcomes. He also answered what the probable outcome of doing nothing would be. When I agreed to surgery, he immediately sent me to their surgical coordinator (same office) and within a week I had the surgery. Surgery went without a problem. I had minimal pain and no problems. I stayed in the hospital (Holy Cross in Silver Spring, Md) the night which I believe was a good idea and was discharged the next morning. I had a catheter and thus did not have to get up until the next morning. I was able to walk, pee, and eat before I left the hospital. I actually felt very good. When I returned home, I took the pain medication every four hours for several days, but started to reduce it then and usually took it only at night for several more days. I did not wait for major pain to take the medication. At my follow up appointment, Dr. Steren told me my cancer was at the earliest stage (1A) only found in the uterus. I would need follow up normal gyn appointments and

tests every six months.

"I like her. She listens to me, answers my questions and is very business-like. If anyone wanted a lovely doctor then that is not who they would go see, but if someone just wanted to go in and get things taken care of and leave, she the person. I rate her highly. I will use her again in the future."

"It's a good practice. All doctors are good. They are responsive in emergency situation and always call. Sometimes there has been a communication gap and the doctor forgot to call back. Apart from those one off incidents I am satisfied with the service. One more thing, the wait time is too long at this practice most of the time. If you have morning appointment you might be seen earlier."

"I have mixed feelings about this doctor. On one hand, she was amazingly responsive when I had some reconstructive surgery (childbirth stretches the birth canal which can cause other issues) from her a few years back and started running a low grade fever right before I had to leave town for a business meeting. She responded to my call at 6AM and met me at her office within a half hour, gave me an exam, called in a prescription and I was on my way. Now...how many doctors do you know that will provide that level of service? She is just okay on sewing you up - definitely not a seamstress - but I haven't had issues with the surgery sites and it's not visible anyway. On the other hand, she has become way too chatty and I find myself listening to her problems instead of her listening to mine, and this goes on for 10 or more minutes. I do recognize that some women like this, but I am more interested in discussing MY issues, not hers. Additionally, recently I had a

smear and the receptionist when I called to find out the results told me it came back irregular and was not able to give me any information regarding the results but that the doctor had to discuss it with me. Well that certainly put me on the alert - gut churning type. And guess what - the doctor wasn't available for several days. AND THEN...the doctor says I need to come in for a biopsy and starts talking cancer. AND THEN...after the biopsy is done she was to make arrangements for me to find out the results whether or not she was available - she was anticipating an important obligation (I agree it was important and unavoidable) that would keep her out of the office for a couple of weeks. However, it turns out she did not make those arrangements and I had to wait two and a half agonizing weeks to find out the results. I can put up with her excessive chattiness because she was so cooperative when I had a problem after reconstructive surgery, but after this biopsy issue and the way the receptionist initially handled it and the way Dr.

did not make arrangements so I would know the biopsy results in a reasonable time really set me off.

"The doctor I consulted for my pregnancy was very good. He understood what I was going through and helped me phase out the fear running on my mind. He gave me valuable advice, which was the need of the hour. I liked the services rendered and will continue to use their services in future."

"I am uncomfortable rating Dr's on Angie's List because it is such a subjective experience. It's one thing if your dishwasher works or not, it's entirely different if you are talking about the health of your unborn baby. My experience was very positive."

"Dr.
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
is an asset to her practice. She has a very down to earth personality, and takes the time to listen to concerns and questions. I cannot highly recommend her enough. I was lucky enough to have Dr.
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
as my OB during my delivery and she was great. She kept my spirits up and when things weren't progressing, she gave me my options without resorting to fear or other less scrupulous tactics. She was very matter of fact and allowed my husband and I to make the right choice for us. We have no qualms with using her services again in the future. "

"I believe that I received good medical care at
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
, it's the bedside manner that fell short. I found the front desk staff friendly, and looked forward to seeing the office nurse,

. I found the doctors' approach, however, to be a little like an assembly line. I found it odd that the first time I met Dr.
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
she didn't introduce herself or shake my hand. Her detached and speedy approach to exams never changed. I found her to be a little cold. I never called during my pregnancy with any concerns. I had a natural labor. The one time I did call with a concern was when I got sharp pains several days after having the baby. Dr
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
told me "To call back if they got so bad I couldn't stand up" and that "having a baby isn't easy" and delivered this all in a voice and
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
that implied I was whiny and she had other things to do. My other main complaint about this office has nothing to do with Dr.
Rockville Obstetricians Provider Name Locked
- their billing office is TERRIBLE. I overpaid for the labor and it took over 7 months to get the money back. THey do not issue refunds unless you request the money back! AND if there is anything that stops the refund process no one will let you know, but it is your responsibility to call and request the refund again. So I ended up calling 4 times to request the refund, each time being told that I would receive a check somewhere between 2 and 6 weeks. After that time passed, I would call and they would say that they would start a new request and it would take another 6 weeks.

"She takes time with me to listen. She explains things so I can understand them. I don't feel rushed. I don't always get in on time, but I don't have to wait that long. The office staff is pleasant. They do everything on line. I can contact them myself by e-mail. She is knowledgeable and very personable. They are the only company to consistently file my insurance correctly by submitting claims to both insurance companies."

"My experience has been terrible with them. When I ended up becoming ill they did not listen to me about my illness, and I ended up hospitalized with a total complete hysterectomy. They do return my phone calls and demonstrate responsiveness. But they don't listen to the patients, in my opinion."
