It went badly. It took several tries to get in touch with the provider. Eventually I did and
Owings Mills Seismic Retrofit Provider Name Locked
(the representative) came to talk about what I wanted done. He explained that they could not buy any parts and that I had to buy all needed materials myself. He wouldn't schedule the work until I bought the parts. I bought the parts the next week and eventually was able to schedule the work. We set up today at 10 AM. At 9 AM he called to see if I would reschedule. When I requested that we stick to the work plan today, he said he would arrive at 10:30. He arrived at 11 AM with a colleague. I had requested that they change out the bulbs in my can ceiling lights. The team apparently changed some bulbs but not all and did not leave any indication of which lights still need to be changed. They did do the other work, although the box that they mounted was not mounted in the requested location. When they finished the work they were doing (except for bulbs that they opted out of) they just left. The left the garage open and the front door unlocked and took off without telling me that they were leaving. Then they called and left a voicemail on my phone saying that they had done as much as they were willing to do for the time I had paid for, and I should call to reschedule and buy more time if I wanted the rest of the lightbulbs installed.

This was a great experience. The person who came first to give me the bid went into the crawlspace and up on the roof to confirm dimensions and conditions. He pointed out areas that would be the possible failure points during a seismic event. He sent me the bid via email a couple of days later. I had told them there would be a delay because I needed the sale of our old house to close so that we would have the funds. They contacted me a couple of times during that six week period but it always felt like a check-in, not pushy at all. When I did have the funds I realized I had additional questions about the services that were going to be provided and my responsibility for clearing the space and cleaning. They came back out and walked me through everything that would be done.
I paid half down to get on their schedule - which was two weeks out. They did a reminder/confirmation call the day before. They came on time and the team which varied from 2-3 people worked very hard. It took two days. They had lined up the city inspector for late the afternoon of the second day. Everything was ready and it passed inspection.
I checked on the progress a couple of times each day. I had some questions which they readily answered. They cleaned up at the end of each day. They showed me how to reset the gas shut off in the event it was triggered. They provided me with a complete set of paperwork for my insurance the next day when I paid the balance.
While there are no guarantees about what will happen if we do experience an 8+ earthquake - i do believe this is a good investment in protecting what is not only a large part of my net worth - but also my home and hearth. The Napa quake happened shortly before they started this work and they were tracking with others in the industry how these products and the installations had held up during that quake.
This was a good experience for me and I hope will be

you as well.

we work from home. They even held off on work one afternoon so I could do a conference call. Gave us a letter for our insurance company at the end of the process. Very clean, very professional, very honest. Loved them!

Cipres was contacted to make an appointment for services. He answered the phone and I was able to make an appointment right away. He was going to be in my neighborhood so it worked out perfectly and he was able to install the earthquake valve the very next day. He was very professional, called to let us know that he will on his way, so that we did not have to wait all day for him. He installed the valve and also took time afterwards to explain how the earthquake valve worked. I would definitely hire him again for future plumbing related projects.

The service went very well. They installed a gas shutoff line for our house along with the standard earthquake retrofit. They had to do a bit more than they planned, just the way our house was constructed, but it was well within the quote. The workers were prompt and ended up staying quite late to finish the installation. They were very professional and cleaned up the place well.

We had our 1930 house's foundation bolted to the foundation. Because the basement is 3/4 finished and some walls are covered with built-in-bookshelves and the like, it was going to be cheaper and easier to access most of the house through the outside, by removing the lowest row of shingles. For that part of the house,

used heavy-duty cement screws and straight metal plates to bolt the foundation to the sill plate, and smaller metal plates to connect the sill plate to the "box" around the exterior of the floor joists. They used an internal plate system to secure the foundation in the unfinished part of the basement. They did lead containment when they removed the shingles and kept chips cleaned up. Once the foundation work was done, they replaced the original row of cedar shingles with pre-primed, matching cedar shingles. They did a few other securing touches with some metal reinforcement plates to some of the beams supporting the house. They also did some basic bolting of our garage's sill plate to its slab and a few other things to secure the garage.

is the owner and he personally came out for both the estimate and the work, overseeing one assistant. He was communicative and to-the-point. He came in at the estimated cost. All the work was as described and seemed very solid. They cleaned up very well every day they were here -- all the work took about 4-5 days, including getting the city permit done.
