Woodworking Reviews in Kensington

The estimator showed up on time when promised. When the contract was agreed to, the four-man team arrived on the appointed day, with all materials and completed the job in a highly-professional and expedient manner (I was originally only promised a two-man crew). The job only took one and half days vice the 3-4 days promised. The crew chief (who was also the original estimator) and his crew were very respectful, pleasant and worked with absolute purpose. No fooling around! I was very impressed.
This company is not cheap, but I was looking for exactly what I got . . . . quality, trustworthy workmen and honest delivery of what was promised.

Once the estimate was in the work went smoothly. There is nothing we would have done differently. We plan on calling upon them soon for some work in our basement and have given their name to relatives who are moving into a new house and need some work done.

We hired an architect to give us a basic design for our siding replacement. We then hired another company to do the job. We understood that changes would have to be made with the design but the first company ordered trim that was not agreed upon and significantly reduced the size of the trim. We believe they underbid the job (as trim is $$$ to purchase materials and labor) and to make up for their costs decided this was the most efficient way to go about it. We also had numerous other issues with them (the company would have done a good job for a basic siding job but that was not what wanted). We stopped the project after the old siding was torn off and the foam board, tyvek and a trim pieces were installed.

was working for Bethesda Bungalow's, who went out of business, as a general contractor coordinating every aspect of the homes that they built. The homes are absolutely beautiful. We were provided his name from our architect when we were calling new company's to finish the work. I did not have the confidence that any of the top rated company's could do what we want.

came over immediately and after a few minutes of talking and showing him the plan said it was no problem and he could make it work. He is good friends with the architect and gave him a call to get clarification - none of the other siding contractors were willing to take the time to do that. He came back with a nice proposal, that was slightly more (because you are paying for his time as a GC and the siding company) as we ended up purchasing the

Plank which had been special ordered prior to signing on with

(he was more than willing to let us do that unlike other company's). He then worked with us on changing the brand of materials for the trim, saving us over $1000. We felt we were off to a good start. After that good start, things moved reasonably quickly except for a few rain delays. He brought with him a wonderful siding company with two very hardworking men who clearly knew what they were doing. They were warm, friendly and clearly took pride in what they were doing.

came by most days 1-2 times a day (often two but sometimes I would miss him) and the owner of the siding company came by usually once a day to help/check on progress. It took two weeks (technically three but we had one week of rain delays) with a two man crew. They offered us more men to speed things up, but the decision was made not to as more people may make things inconsistent (we just wanted it done by winter/snow). We were often consulted on major issues and both

and the siding owner often jumped in to work with the crew on the details and both clearly have done installs themselves/know how to use tools. We very much appreciated that as except for the roof and siding, we have DIYed the inside of the house. We were disappointed at how many company's came for estimates and the sales person/owner has clearly never used power tools. What I appreciated was everyone being willing to work with alternative materials. We were going for very detailed trim and I had found a profile of fypron and they were happy to figure out how to make it work as the architect plan was not going to fit with our roof line. They also worked with us to change the window trim using fypron vs. the original design and it looks amazing. When we are outside we see people regularly stopping and looking and many of our friends and neighbors are impressed at the job they have done. We got exactly what we were looking for.

on-site also make a few changes to the original design to make our house really stand out. Normally I'd never use a GC as to me they are an extra unnecessary expense and prefer to deal with company's directly but
Kensington Carpenters Provider Name Locked
was worth the extra cost, both for his design ideas/how to pull it off, but also managing such a large (for us) project that we are not doing ourselves/have less control over.

We are giving a raving review as we are that happy with

and his siding crew/company. (we are not affiliated with him in any way except happy customer). The other thing we very much respected is we are 95% done and we tried to pay him so the crew can get paid and he refused our original check and requested a $1000 hold back until we are 100% done. We had no doubt they'd be back so to us it was a non-issue (and if necessary the finish stuff is stuff we can do).

THey started on time, finished on time, and everything was done professionally. The followup was prompt, and even one year later, they are returning to recaulk some seams due to settlement of the house.

staff are very professional, considerate, and most importantly they care about their work (and extra bonus they cleaned up at the end of every work day). When I had a very short deadline to have a bathroom completed they even came on Saturday and Sunday. Many times they stayed working until 7:00 p.m. (you

’t find that kind of dedication these days!). The main reason we keep adding jobs is they stay on our job until it is completed -- not like some contractors that spend a couple hours and then leave to go to another job. I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for people who care about their clients and provide quality workmanship.

We hired Crown to build railings for both our upstairs and downstairs staircase in our split level home. What made the experience with Crown so wonderful was that we had hired a handy man to do the job prior to hiring Crown. The handyman had no business attempting to build what we were looking for. Not only was Crowns' work outstanding, but the repairs that they did of the previous handyman's bundlers were corrected. All in all, two days of work remedied 6 days of handyman h***. After the work was completed, two managers from Crown came to inspect the work to ensure the work was done correctly and was pleasing to the eye. I would hold no reservations to recommeding Crown again and again.

Got an estimate within 3 weeks of initial request. We agreed to the price, indicated color. We were told that their painter would pick the chairs up asap. We responded immediately thanking

It went fantastic.
Kensington Carpenters Provider Name Locked
brings the highest standards of excellence to his business and carpentry work. He is very exacting, professional and honest. He left my home clean and orderly at all times. Any problems that came up, he took care of it. I highly recommend his company for jobs of all types, from basic carpentry to full home renovations and most especially for custom built cabinetry. I know this because before I hired him, I inspected the custom kitchen cabinets he built for another customer. He built all these cabinets by hand and they just looked gorgeous. As for my closets, they look great and the doors are a pleasure to open!

The estimate was 1/2 the price quoted by another Rockville-based company. Scheduling was easy, and the workers were prompt and friendly. They cleaned after themselves (even covered the inside of the closets with plastic sheets to limit the amount of dust). The floors look great!

Mason and his crew were fantastic. From the very beginning when I was getting quotes from several contractors, Mason stood out by being very patient and extremely thorough in his analysis of what work needed to be done and very confident in his ability to do it. He always took the time to explain all of the details of the project with me throughout the entire project - which lasted about 8 weeks. As a first time homeowner, this was the first major renovation we have done on our house which required hiring a contractor and I could not have asked for a better experience. Not only is the quality of work superb, but Mason and his crew were extremely respectful of our home. They were very flexible with our schedule and always cleaned up after every day's work.
Mason was very patient with my wife and I as we debated back and forth about the details of what we wanted to have completed and also when we changed our minds or added work throughout the project. Any additional work we requested that would have an additional cost was always very clearly detailed for us prior to the work being done so there was no surprises about the expense. Other than the additions we asked for mid way through and a few items that were required by the county inspector the estimate was right on and did not have any surprises. In addition, Mason was very responsive throughout the project whenever I had questions and had many great idea and suggestions when we just couldn't make up our minds.
I would highly recommend Mason and
Kensington Carpenters Provider Name Locked
for any contracting work needed as I am fully confident in the quality of his work and appreciate how easy it was to work with him. I certainly plan to hire Mason again when we have our next project to do. Thank you Mason and crew for your great work.
