"I worked directly with
and he was great. He came out within a few days of me calling and sketched out a few ideas within 10 minutes of being" there. We took a staged approach where he made some preliminary/rough drawings before agreeing to move forward with more time/money/detailed drawings.
was very knowledgable, courteous and responded in a timely manner. And overall
and
were very competitively priced. I would definitely recommend and would use them again for future work.

"I gave the price an A because they cheated themselves when they gave the quote based on the Pictures which worked in our favor. They did however, try to make us" pay for the work they actually did, but we didn't feel it was fair since we had to finish some things ourselves. The quality was fair because the wall is still standing, but the door does not latch to the door frame. The following is the email I sent as a review directly to the company; As a result of this email they offered to take us to lunch and the project manager was fired for his behavior:
-Project manager, Ramond-Did the actual work, Arjun-Gave quote We are not really impressed with the service we got. We are willing to pay the full quote of 2200 that was given to us by Arjun, because we feel we were not quoted correctly. We think the quote should have been more and what we got is probably $2200 worth. When I start the quote process on the 3rd, I called
and I was referred to Arjun. I dealt with him until the project was started. He told me to send an email of what we needed done and pictures would be helpful. We do not do construction which is why we reached out to builders and contractors. I thought they would need to come out to get a better picture of what need to be done. Arjun said it would take three days to finish.
called and said he would start the job 6th or 7th because he had a few jobs to wrap up first. I talked to
on the 6th to see if they were starting, and he said no it would be the 7th. On the 7th
tells me his guys had a family emergency, but he brought the supplies they needed to do the job. So Monday the 10th comes and they didn’t get here until noon. They worked until 3 and the same on Tuesday and Wednesday. They finished everything except the painting and the door. We called
Monday the 17th he said
was going to come. He did not. Tuesday the 18th is when I Sent
the disappointment email. He brought the door and
came in.
comes in to bring the paint for the door and starts ranting. He starts talks talking to
about what needs to be done and He says he is tired of
with this job, it’s a waste of time and it’s a BS job. He says all this right in front of me. I let my CEO know what was going on and he goes to see what is going on.
starts saying every time he comes out here something else needs to be added or done, and he didn’t even want to take the job in the first place. My CEO takes him to his office to calm him down, and they come out and start talking again. He kept saying all he got was an email and three pictures. My CEO was saying how unprofessional it was to be taking it out on us when he should be getting with his sales team about the issues that kept popping up. It all comes down to, if he would have just given us an estimate and then came out to verify the estimate was right we could have avoided all the frustration. What happen to make all this complicated, is when we calculated our figures, we didn’t give enough room for the door to fit, so they had to move the wall out further and it got in the way of a few of our electrical plugs and phone
. This was the first thing that was changed. The second thing was that we need electricity in the wall, Which was in the original email by the way. And the third thing that changed was insulation in the wall, which was also in the original email.
told us that insulation did not usually go in interior walls, but we need it for sound proof reasons. Which all could have been avoided again if he came out to do a quote. We did not know we need to request that he come out here to do the quote, this was the impression I got from
. There are still some things we have to finish ourselves, but we are just going to call the job complete with you guys and pay the invoice. My understanding from
is that this job should have been quoted at $3300. Again I am sorry about the long winded email, and I am not sending it to you because I am upset. I am just sending it to you to let you know how our experience was.
said reviews are important you
, and the most disappointing part was
’s behavior and attitude.

Architect first - for around $1000 typically you will get site consultation, a few sketches showing what you said you wanted, and a preliminary (by the book) cost estimate - that you can use to figure if your budget or scope of work needs major adjustment. Then, if you go ahead, typically about 10-20% of total project cost for complete plans and specs (including above cost), depending on complexity and level of interior design detail, and if construction inspection services are included.

Generally, nothing is free with an architect - unlike a contractor where a bit of consultation and a rough estimate is a lead-in to the actual work he hopes to get (the construction/repair) and part of his bidding cost, an architect (and engineer) makes his living giving advice and consultation and developing designs and cost estimates - so giving it away for free is sort of like a dentist doing sample fillings for free. Some will come to your house to discuss your concepts for 15-20 minutes for free, basically to see if they want to take you on as a client or feel your job is the type or size they want, but you should expect little or nothing in the way of a design or cost estimate for free - the most you might get would be an opinion on whether it sounds, off the cuff, like your budget is roughly in line with your desired scope of the project.

On more complex or up-scale remodels, it is not unusual to contact several architecture firms and request proposals - where they basically come see the site, then give you a sketch or few or more common today, computer-generated altered photos of your place, showing conceptually what they can do for you, then you choose the one you like the most and go with that one for final design. Typically $500-1000 range fee (each) to get that done for small jobs, larger jobs will typically be no charge but that assumes probably $25-50,000 plus anticipated fees if they get the job.

Bear in mind in the latter scenario you cannot pick and choose betweenthe best parts of each proposal - the architect owns the design and it is copyrighted, so while you can choose bui9lding elements (dormers, bay windows, etc) from any of the proposals, specific design or color combinations are copyrighted by the proposer.

Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
came out and spent a lot of time with us. He created 4 or 5 different sketches of some available ideas. We have a very unique roof line and
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
was very creative with his ideas that would match the rest of our exsisting home. He spent extra time with us and went outside of the consultation time working with me on our project.

Quality craftsmanship. Experienced. Integrity. These are the perfect words to describe
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
and his team at
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
. Undertaking a complete home remodel can be a very stressful experience, unless you have the right Architect and contractor. Fortunately, this is our case. After interviewing several companies for our total home renovation, we made the right decision when we chose
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
from
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
to manage our project. At our initially meeting, he totally understood our vision and made great suggestions. He took his time and addressed all our questions, all of them! When working with a project that is six figures, we needed to find a company that we connected with and most importantly, trust. After meeting with
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
, we just knew he was the one we wanted to work with. His professionalism and credibility made him the obvious choice. Also
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
being a licensed architect made things much easier knowing that we had to acquire drawings for the addition we were adding. After having many meetings with
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
to create the perfect layout, he presented us with a very detailed architectural drawing which we were extremely happy with. Once all the drawings and aspect of work was approved by us, the renovation began. We are currently still in process and the project is about 50% complete. It is a complete remodel; from new plumbing, electrical, to adding an addition! As
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
always reminds us, “we are getting a new home.” Being a licence architect, he is very familiar with all aspects of contruction and is very involved in every part of the project, which we truly appreciate. If you are searching for a company for your home remodel needs, I highly recommend
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
and
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
. Working with
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
and his team has been such a delightful experience.

We hired the husband-wife team,
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
for our house remodel project. We never met the husband, only the wife,
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
had communicated with us. Their fee was 10% of the construction cost. Once we had paid them for measuring and CAD drawings of the house,
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
's responsiveness and professionalism went downhill. I had provided our wish list written in a specification requirements document and it seemed she had never read or understood any of our scope of work communicated.
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
has a high-strung personality; was not easy to work with - I would recommend to look for talented architects who respect homeowners' wishes and dreams.

We needed to have an old screened porch removed and a new one built in its place. The work was completed in a timely manner, and the end result was a beautiful porch.

Pat was great -- she was responsive and incredibly easy to work with. We went through several iterations of
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
/layout in the early stages. I really appreciated her ability to listen and incorporate our wishes/requirements but also her forthrightness about things that wouldn't work as well. When we started construction, she worked with our contractor to ensure that things went according to plan and was responsive to his questions as well. When the structure was up and there was a wall that I didn't like the view of from my kitchen, she came back out and helped devise a solution to fix it. I am very happy with the layout of the addition and the space design. It is a testament to the quality of her work that the addition blends incredibly well with the original house. People are incredulous that it is an addition (even some of the neighbors who were admittedly very skeptical about the addition plans have said that she did an amazing job).

Suppliers attempted to take

We were forced to complete the project ourselves as we were living in a demolished house in January 2014 through May 2014 without the use of the $72K in personal savings that we paid to them. There is at least one other similar lawsuit against them for the same time period, for the same actions, different family. We originally purchased a Big Deal for
Ellicott City Architects Provider Name Locked
to evaluate our major remodel plans, and then went ahead and worked with him to get plans to move forward with our remodel. He did a good job listening to our wants and needs, and adjusting to our feedback. In addition to our ideas, he provided some good ideas that hadn't occurred to us, which improved the end result greatly, like turning our staircase to improve the flow of the kitchen remodel. We moved several walls and changed the layout of our spaces, and it feels much more functional and logical now. We actually just contacted him to use his services again.
