"The first visit was pleasant. The normal routine blood work was drawn, etc. The thing I noticed what that the midwife did not use gloves when drawing blood. As a" medical professional myself, I was a little shocked. The second appointment I was seen by a midwife in training. She was pushing me to do genetic testing. She said that if my child had problems that there "was still time." I was rather put off by that. I had not seen the trainee after that appointment. I mentioned it to another staff member. The office manager was very pushy about payment, after I was towards the end of my second trimester. Come to find out the office manager had lied to me about taking my insurance and wanted $500.00 on the spot and the total of $6,000.00 before the delivery of my child. I would then have to file a claim with my insurance company after the delivery for reimbursement. I was shocked. It is a large sum of money to expect someone to pay up front in three and a half months. The office manager then started calling me and harassing me on the phone. I was working things out with my insurer. The time came for the routine diabetes challenge test. They gave me a one hour non fasting test. When I didn't pass, they administered the same test, even though it made me violently ill the first time. I failed again. They didn't follow
guide lines, for testing. They labeled me with GDB, and handed me off to a Dr that I did not know. The hand off was very quick, and late in my pregnancy. So late, that when I wanted to find a Dr on my own that no one would take me as a client so late in my pregnancy. All in all, I would not recommend this facility to anyone for their prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care. I also would not recommend this facility for well woman care either.

"She was very good. I think it is hard to find someone you feel comfortable with, there aren't many good options, but with her I felt very comfortable. I had" to have some intervention during my pregnancy, and she made me feel very comfortable about it. It did not feel over medicalized. The availability was very good. She is a midwife, so she is running around, but she was very available. The office was good and friendly.

Midwives are professionals who offer support to women throughout their pregnancy and handle the labor and delivery of babies. Many couples use the services of a midwife as a great alternative to hospital births.

Hi there! This is Weston from Member Services. Apologies for my delayed response.

you get several different addresses and numbers which you might try.

Hello, this is Kyle K from the Member Care Department.

I apologize for my delay. We encourage healthcare providers to list the insurances they accept when creating their Angie’s List profile. At this time however, many providers have not completed this section, or the information wasn't available when Angie's List created their listing.
I encourage you to visit your insurance provider's website, as many offer search tools to find local healthcare providers. You can then cross-reference these with Angie's List. We’re happy to help look up these individual providers for you, too.
I am sorry I could not answer your question directly, but I hope this information was helpful.

Please let me know if there's any other assistance or info I can provide. You can respond in line to this Q&A thread by submitting a new answer. You can also reach us at memberservices@angieslist.com or toll-free at 1-866-783-2980 to speak with a live representative. I apologize, but nutritionists fall under our Weight Management category which is included in the Health list. Currently, you're enrolled in our Basic membership which only includes access to our Home list.
If you'd like to upgrade your membership to the Plus or Premium plan, we'll be happy to assist you with this search. If interested, give us a call at 1.888.944.5478 and we'll take care of this adjustment. Again, I do apologize for any misunderstanding.

Midwife Birthing Support reviews in Columbia

They were great, and I'd highly recommend their services. The staff was compassionate, highly knowledgeable, and did a wonderful job. In fact, I think they saved me from undergoing a c-section.
- Andy B.

The overall experience was excellent. They are courteous and helpful, and everyone seems to know exactly what they are talking about. I am really looking forward to my experience throughout the process, and have been very happy with

She made my birthing experience calm and beautiful. I felt that she was in control and very knowledgable. She took a situation that could be scary and made it a calming and relaxing one. She took great care to ensure that I did not tear while pushing. She also let me be in control. There was never any yelling to PUSH like the horror stories I had heard of birth. She let my body tell me what to do. I would recommend her to anyone.
- Kristen W.

In 2007, the Midwives helped me through two miscarriages - one of which required a DNC. They were compassionate, calming, and most of all there for me through it all. I can't emphasize enough how much their efforts on my behalf meant to me during those difficult times. When I returned to their practice in late 2011, after moving back to Cincinnati, I found myself unexpectedly (but happily!) pregnant. The Midwives have provided all of my prenatal care, including

panicked phone calls at night and treating me at the hospital when I fell. While I'm still several weeks out from delivery, based on the time, attention, and care I've received so far, I can only imagine they'll be fantastic during labor and with my follow-up care. The practice is one of the best for OB-GYN I've been to and I really can't recommend them highly enough. They're skilled, kind, and patient-centered - and all around terrific people.

Columbia Midwives Provider Name Locked
is very personable, knowledgeable and professional. I'd used a midwife for the second half of my previous pregnancy (and used an OB/GYN prior to that).
Columbia Midwives Provider Name Locked
provides a personalized level of care that I think is difficult to come by in a standard OB/GYN practice.
While she does do home births, we elected a hospital birth at

Hospital and the birth process with her went well. We're trying for baby #3 right now and I'll be using her again if we get pregnant.
- Michelle W.

Both of the home births went fine (they were about 4 years apart).
Columbia Midwives Provider Name Locked
helped me get organized afterward and even cooked food for my family after the first home birth she attended for me, so I didn't have to. That was nice because my husband could stay and enjoy our

and didn't have to go fetch burgers. For the second one, she helped me get organized afterward, made sure the baby was doing wonderfully, too (she did that w/the first one too, no worries). I don't know if we'll have anymore pregnancies, but most definitely, I'd seek her out again and would encourage anyone pondering a home birth to at least plan a meet &

Wonderful Experience with all 3 midwives at this practice - I switched to this practice late in my pregnancy because the other place I had been was just more of a disaster at every appointment.
Columbia Midwives Provider Name Locked
helped me get in and my records and tests fully reviewed immediately and was actually the midwife who delivered my baby boy. She was wonderful at every appointment - knowledgeable caring and really took her time with me. I can say this for all 3 of the midwives.
Columbia Midwives Provider Name Locked
is the senior midwife there and helps coordinate your experience - they all work wonderfully together. I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. She even opened the office one day after business hours to come in and check me out one day that I was having early contractions. Their relationship with the Dr's in the practice are also excellent. I also had a doula and all the midwives worked wonderfully with her as well to give me an integrated experience of my choice.
- bevin C.

It went very well. Sometimes the wait is longer than expected but it is not surprising given the unpredictable nature of women's health needs, especially in a gynecological/obstetrical practice. The midwives are warm and talk to you about your general health before completing any procedures efficiently and with attention to your comfort and ease. They thoroughly explain anything you might have questions about. While the parking at

can be a challenge, it is worth it for the professional care I have received with the midwives.
