Columbia HVAC Contractors Reviews

"We have used

for other work, and I was pleased with the results. I found the work this time as exceptional. The salesman arrived on time and explained the choices I had for the new equipment. He offered me great discounts that the company was offering at the time. (Last year a great contractor for another job told me to expect to pay $10K for the same work I had done today for $6300.) We paid 1/3 up front and the rest upon completion. Three men arrived and began work right away. Since I was doing this for the first time, the lead,

, answered all my questions as they progressed through the installation. Not only did

show me what was done, but he explained the workings of the furnace so I would know when and how to make appropriate setting and cleaning decisions. He was very professional and knowledgeable (kudos,

), and now I am more educated as well. The men took about 7 hours to complete the tasks. They cleaned up the area and actually did some wall rebuilding so the area could pass an inspection. I was elated at their service.

"My heat went out on Super Bowl Sunday. At this point I figured I wouldn't even get a callback until Monday. I went on Angie's List and scheduled the appointment online. The service provider called me back within a couple of hours and scheduled an appointment for Monday. He came out within the stated time frame, and was courteous enough to wear covers on his footwear in my house.
After diagnosing the problem, he gave me a few options and I decided the best option was replacing the furnace and thermostat. The repairman returned the next day on time and completed the job within the stated time frame. Both repairmen were courteous and appeared knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend this company and will be calling them in the spring for my A/C diagnostic.

, my service person, was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He checked the 20+ year old furnace and offered advice on getting maximum heat from it and what heating options I might consider when it’s time to replace it. He was very comfortable with me observing him and I felt confident in his knowledge. I will go back to

came out and assessed the problem with our furnace. It needed a part and he told us it would be in on Wed. late and he would be back on Thurs. which he did. He was running late (no wonder with this weather) but he kept us apprised of arrival time after he finished each stop so we were not waiting and wondering. He was very efficient and polite. We will definitely use them again. Thanks Angies list for having such good people in your list.
"We wanted estimates on replacing aging HVAC unit.
Columbia HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
was good and professional. However, after getting two other estimates (from other reputed contractors based on Angies list) it was clear they were way overpriced. Also the systems that they recommended were an overkill. We ended up saving thousands and getting great service and a good system by going with a different contractor.

answers phone or texts back quickly to my call. He came out same day and diagnosed problem as the circuit board and starter. He located the parts on a 1983 furnace and installed by next day. There were electrical connection problems between furnace & thermostat over the next week.

This is the 4th job completed by

"My air condition was leaking so I found
Columbia HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
& Sons Inc from the Angieslist to fix the problem.
The technician came on time. He cleaned up the water drainage pipe that fixed the problem. He also checked the heat pump and found that one of the capacitor was dead and the remaining one was under its capacity. So I replaced both capacitors at cost of $160, which I though a little pricy. However, their service was good. I will use them again.

was assigned our claim through HMS Home Warranty. It is a father and son team, and they quickly diagnosed the problem. The blower was badly damaged on our 16 year old furnace, so they removed it and advised they would need to get the new part and come back to install it.
They said that if it was in stock at Carrier, they would be back the next day to install it.
I got a call at 5:30pm saying they made it to Carrier before it closed and could come by that evening to install it. They came back and were done by 7:00pm. It was a very positive experience in contrast to the poor service on our last Home Warranty claim with another contractor. They were honest, experienced, and punctual. I will give them my future business for service on our furnace.
"He came at the beginning of the time slot and i had heat in no time. Clean, friendly, helpful and will order a part and repair the Aprilaire. Bonus!
"When I reached the answering service I could barely hear the person answering the phone (my hearing is quite good). When I mentioned that I couldn't hear the woman who answered the phone the line suddenly went dead. I called back because the temperature is dropping into the low 30s and I'd like to get this fixed if I can. The second time I struck pay dirt. The connection was still horrible but the person answering the call deigned to speak with me. She took my information and said she would have the on call person contact me. Shortly thereafter someone called. We established after a few minutes discussion that I have a digital thermostat with no read out. The on call person told me to check the battery. When I reported that the thermostat had no battery he seemed unable to figure out what to do next. He then said that there might be a battery in the heater itself. When I said that I didn't think that was something I was going to be able to check he pretty much gave up. The on call guy who appeared to be responsible for 24 hour emergency service (the answering service asked me if I considered this an 'emergency' I said that I did) told me that 'we won't be able to get to you tomorrow. I thanked him for his time and hung up. So, here I sit making a mental inventory of the space heaters in the house and wondering how cold its going to get tonight. Spartan is the last company that I would call for services, routine, maintenance, or emergency services. They can do far better.
