"He sent out his worker Bill who was very curtious and professional. He did a awesome job repairing roof, ceiling and floor. He also had to
the room back up to" house and seal it. I think it was a bit pricey. But I guess if
want professionalism nd a good job done you have to pay for it.over all it was a great expeirance and Im very satisfied with the work that was done and would use this contractor again.

"I cannot speak highly enough of
. He is a diligent worker who consistently did everything he could to make this a successful experience. He would check with" me if he had any questions about the vision I had for the deck or the basement. If he came up with a solution that was more effective and within the budget, he would offer it as a suggestion. I had another crew working on renovations to the master bathroom and
would work around them or with them as the need arose. Having this man do work for you would be the best decision you could make. He is reliable, honest, capable and trustworthy. These are attributes that one should not take for granted in any profession.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

http://indigochreblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0835.jpg

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

I am not sure a general handyman is the right person for the skylight.  We fix quite a few skylights that were installed by handymen and that could be the problem at its origination.  You will want a roofer for that.

As long as you are splitting the trades at that point, might as well get a flooring contractor to look at the floor once you have figured out the skylight repair/replacement equation.

I purchased the Angie's List deal of four hours of Handyman's services for $99.
It took a while to schedule, firstly, because it was mainly outdoor work, and when we couldn't find a date in the fall, I waited until the spring. After that, the company was very unresponsive when I tried to arrange an appointment. At one point, I offered a three week window when he could pick his four hours and didn't hear from him.
I thought someone would come by ahead of time to discuss what I was looking for, maybe give me an idea of what the time frame would be for the various tasks. But I was only asked for a description of the jobs over the phone. On the scheduled morning, the company still wasn't sure what I was asking or even if they needed a ladder. (They eventually borrowed mine).
The concrete patching started cracking within days of the job. I called the company about this, but they didn't get back to me.
The carpentry work was sufficient, but the work didn't allow my door to close. The workers were in their truck and about to leave when I noticed this.
They didn't bother to cleanup the sawdust.
I don't know why

Everything went very well on installation day.

was here right on time. He completed all the work in the
8 hour time frame despite running into some unexpected problems. The finished projects looked very good
and worked well.
Worcester Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
worked steadily all day not even stopping for lunch. The only fly in the ointment was the
fact the original date of installation had to be cancelled because his truck would not start. This cost me a vacation
day but I suppose these things happen. He made up for it on the next scheduled day. Overall, I would use them
again.

Contacted them and received a response but the date they wanted to come out and give us an estimate wouldn't work for us. So I tried contacting them again and no response. Tried again a week later and still no response. Not someone I want to deal with if they couldn't even give me a response. POOR BUSINESS.

We were expecting house guests, and needed to address several minor but obvious areas to repair.

Worcester Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
(the owner) was very nice and helpful. I was so happy he works weekends. He spent a little under four hours, including two hardware store trips (it was long due to the rebuild and location...not him). I cannot express how horrible a spot this stairwell is to work in, and even with a normal ladder
Worcester Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
seemed able to handle it well. He worked to find options for us (of hinges and latches) so we could match the existing hardware. He also was the one to suggest the latch at the top of the stairwell so we could reach from the landing. He didn't just want to rush and get the job done, he wanted it right for us. So great customer consideration. The grill sits flush with the opening (my concern) when shut, and he let it hang open a couple times to make sure it would not fall from the ceiling like before...and that it would not hit the light that hangs down in the stairwell.
After: he brought and used a shopvac to clean up. He double checked and made sure there were no

on the walls. We have pets and he was good with them, he even insisted we move the food that was nearby so no dust floated into it. Overall it was a great experience. We are already thinking of a list of new things to have him work on. We know it will cost more in the future, but it is well worth it.

iDavid did an excellent job on all of the work and his price was reasonable. He was flexible and accommodating and was even willing to make a run to the hardware store to buy some needed materials for me. I already made another appointment with him to come back and do some more work. Make sure you schedule a few weeks in advanced. He is very busy.

Not a bad start; was on time and completed the work in a reasonable period of time. I thought this was going to be great.
The problems arose a few weeks after the job was completed. The epoxy floor in the garage began to peel (they had promised that all directions were followed and we even left the car out of the garage an extra day more than recommended to be sure the epoxy was completely set). About the same time, the kitchen cabinets they had painted began to peel.
After contacting them about the problem, it took another week to get an response. A date was set for them to come and look at the garage floor with the epoxy rep. They never showed up. After several hours I called and he said he was sorry but was busy at a job. I told him I was upset and wanted some action. He gave me another date and time and I asked that he call me with a confirmation prior to coming since I had to leave work to be there and it was a big inconvenience.
I never received a call for that appointment and when I got home from work, I found out he had showed up and completed the assessment of the floor without me.
I didn't receive a call until days later and he proceeded to blame me for driving onto the floor too soon but that the rep had agreed to provide new epoxy and that he would do the labor for free (how nice!).
Now, 3 months later, I still have had no contact with this so-called professional and have decided to buy the epoxy myself and do the work myself. I frankly never want to hear this guys voice again.
The cabinets on the kitchen continue to peel and I've had to re-paint sections and then do a gloss coating to keep them from peeling.
This guy pretends to know and be an expert on everything. To me, he's the proverbial
Worcester Handyman Services Provider Name Locked
-of-all-trades and master of none. I was also extremely unhappy with his lack of listening skills. He pretends to listen and then does exactly the opposite. Super frustrating!
Finally, I got the feeling that he has a chip on his shoulder about anyone telling him what to do.
