Wayland Landscapers Reviews

D
"The Overall "D" grade takes into account
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
' previous satisfactory mowing, plowing, and tree work.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
gets an "F" for my most recent experience with the company.

Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
agreed to re-grade our backyard to pitch water away from our house.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
said they'd do this by creating a swale on one side of our backyard and by sloping the ground away from our house on the other side.. When we asked if this would keep water out of our basement,
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, the owner of
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, said, "I guarantee it." We were also reassured by
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
' ad, which said, "We have the equipment and experience to get the job done right the first time, backed by an industry leading guarantee".
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
failed to live up to their ad and guarantee. Before
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
re-graded, we got 1/4 inch of water in our basement during years with very wet springs. After
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
re-graded in this similarly wet spring year, we got more than an inch of water - over four times the water we'd gotten before. We measured our backyard and found
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
had not created the promised swale but had raised that area, deepening the pitch toward our foundation.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
pitched the area on the other side of the yard only slightly, leaving us with a slope that was too shallow and short to carry water away from the house..
I contacted
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
a number of times, asking if they would honor their guarantee and come back to fix the botched job. It was only after my mention of the Better Business Bureau that the owner of
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
came to my house. He immediately said he'd talked to the Better Business Bureau and his lawyer and then spent the next hour trying to find ways to blame me for "the damages", as he called it. He refused to fix the incorrect grading
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
had done and he refused to give me a refund. He ended by standing in my driveway, towering over me, threatening in raised voice to call all the local landscapers to tell them not to work for me.
After this, I got bids from five companies to fix
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
' work. None of the representatives of these companies could believe the yard had been re-graded - they all said the pitch was clearly wrong. Thanks to a good suggestion from the company we used, we were able to raise an area near the foundation to compensate for
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
"swale", thus saving us from tearing up that area of the yard. The other side of the yard had to be torn up and redone. It cost us $1,200 to fix the damage
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
did.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
later billed me $376 for eight mows they'd done in June and
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
. I didn't pay those bills to off-set the $1,200. So, thanks to
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, I'm out $824. And I still have the image of a 6'3'' 250 lb. contractor standing in my driveway, threatening me. I'll let Angie's list know if retaliation, of any kind, occurs after this review is posted.

"It went very well. I typed up the notes that I took and e-mailed them to her for her review. This was essential because otherwise I would have forgotten the information. It might be a good idea for others to have a tape recorder at the consultation.
She was very helpful and offered follow up phone availability.

"Our project involved many aspects over a large area that all required specific design considerations.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and her team spent a lot of time discussing the design with us to ensure it met both our style and functional needs. And when work began they embraced each adjustment and addition that we requested along the way. As this was a complete overhaul to our space, it involved a ton of work that required careful project management planning, which
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and crew excel at delivering upon. We also appreciated her care to ensure that we could stick to a budget and were given varying options to make our decisions. We would highly recommend working with
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and plan to use them again for future projects.

Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
contacted us right away looking to set up the at house consultation, which we did about a week after purchasing their Big Deal. They were professional during the meeting, listening to our thoughts and making suggestions based on what we told them we liked (e.g., low maintenance, bright colors, etc.). The plans were supposed to be emailed to us a couple weeks later and then we'd set up another time to review them together and determine if this was going to be a DIY project for us or if we wanted
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
(or any other landscapers) to perform the work based on the estimate they would provide during the review. Two weeks came and went - we just heard from
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
this past Friday (couple weeks past the date they told us). The voicemail indicated we should have already received the designs but we haven't yet. Not a big issue - we understand companies get busy, especially when they offer a Big Deal that sells out on Angie's List. We're following up with them this week to get the plans and make the appointment to review them.

"We’ve had landscaping done before but, every time, the landscaper basically did what he wanted. Sometimes it didn’t turn out well, for instance, when the landscaper failed to take the local deer population or the size of the mature shrub into consideration. If I provided guidance (ie, a list of requested plantings), it was followed only if convenient. This time, I wanted someone who would work with me and design the plantings to meet my objectives and to do well under the specific conditions. Each area of the yard has very distinct soil and sun conditions; what would do well in one area (or someone else’s yard) wouldn’t necessarily do well in another. Additional requirements were that plantings had to be deer resistant, low maintenance, and user friendly (ie, no thorns or prickers).

Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, owner of
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, was the solution to the problem. She asked for my input and provided guidance based on knowledge. She showed me options, gave me names so that I could research on my own, and provided computer-simulated renderings. For the flower gardens, she ensured that the color palette was complementary and that the bloom times would over-lap to provide the greatest duration of color. She listened to my concerns, modified the plans to suit me, and allowed me to be involved as much or as little as I wanted. When she wasn’t sure of something, she researched it and came back with answers. The long-term success of the plantings was important to her; her approach was thoughtful and logical as opposed to simply planting what was quickest and easiest to obtain at the nursery.

Her crew of young local guys – and
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
– is great! They work hard and seem to enjoy what they do. On each day, people were assigned based on their capabilities and experience. And some are even immune to poison ivy!
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
had suggested some hardscaping and recommended a contractor (Masonry & More). She and her crew coordinated with the contractor and regraded the yard after the work was completed.
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
then subcontracted for hydroseeding. I should also mention that
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
did her best to minimize expenses by shopping sales and sharing equipment rental costs among clients.

We are quite happy with both the process and the results. It was nice working with someone who took the time to really consider the outcome. I only wish that I had before & after photos to illustrate the dramatic change that
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
has made to our property.

What to know: Landscaping projects can not necessarily be completed in a single season; some things are best planted in the spring and others in the fall. Also, it can take a couple of years for plants to establish themselves, and for modifications to be made based on the success of plants in a particular location. So, be patient!

Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
arrived initially to assess the property and to talk with me about my preferences and goals for the project. She then put together a proposed plan which included plant pictures as well as some sample plants to be sure I was happy with the intended plantings. Her presentation was carefully thought through and very professional, and took into consideration the soil quality, sun exposure, maintenance, and overall aesthetic goals. The workers she had on her staff were equally professional and were careful with the property, always cleaning up thoroughly before they left. The work quality was excellent, and the gardens were exactly what we had hoped for. Her pricing was very fair and well documented. We will be looking forwward to our next project this spring!"

"The crew arrived on time and first cleared out the brush and trees that I had previously cut down. They regraded the area with a bobcat, added topsoil, hand raked and seeded. This is the type of job where you could take shortcuts and do work that was "good enough".
Wayland Landscapers Provider Name Locked
's crew paid attention to the details and did it right. it was clear to me that they were knowledgeable and interested in doing a quality job. That's what really impressed me - a company interested in doing it right."

"They did a really bad job. They keep coming back to fix their work at least. They are pretty responsive about that. They have come four times and this time hopefully they will fix it. I am not entire happy or unhappy with them. They are also doing other work for me like weekly mowing and yard clean up which was great. Their accessibility is not good. They first did the pool and we called them to say they did a poor job. They came back again to level it and it still was not okay. We set up the pool and filled water to find that it was still not level. We had to drain the pool and they came again to do it the third time. Now the sand is falling out from under the pool and they need to shore it up. This is the fourth time they are fixing the same job. We lost three weeks of summer with no compensation from them. I would have never hired them if I knew this was the way they work. We keep asking them to set the pool up for us and they ignore what we said and continue fixing their mistake. They are still working for us, but I would not recommend them. I will not use them again for this kind of job. "
