"They started on time and finished the work as projected. Short on a material for the siding but they ordered it got in done about a week later. Everything looks" very good. They left no debris, wouldn't even know they had been there. Very prompt to answer any of our questions before the final contract and during the project. The only thing that was not the best was the
-potty stayed in our drive for about or week or so after they were done. Not Colonial's fault they keep calling the company and telling them to pick it up. But they work was being done around the Thanksgiving time frame, so that could have been a factor. It was just kinda funny, guess no one needed the
. But it was picked up and we are good to go. The Sidling looks great, lots of compliments.

"Replaced 20+ year old very rotten and water damaged huge picture windows (inside and outside work required). Repaired all of the wood rot inside and out. Repainted," caulked, outside and replaced the trim and repainted the inside as well. The work was exceptional. The owner is an absolute gentleman, a professional, and great guy. When the inside trim was not the correct white color the owner had his guys come out and repaint. He was interested in solving our problems as much as selling us windows. Experienced a small leak after new windows were installed (just a few drips on the inside) and owner came out promptly himself and we isolated it to a bad horizontal trim board twenty feet above the window---i.e. not related to the window installation but to my bad siding and trim on my house. Once we replaced that siding trim board ourselves during a separate house painting job, caulked the top of the board, then no more leaks. When I get ready to replace my Masonite siding with HardyBoard in a few years, or replace other windows on the house, I will have
and Window bid it definitely. I have no doubts about their level of quality and customer service.

fiber cement siding

How much does siding cost to replace?

Siding is critical in protecting your home from weather and structural damage. Understand when you need to replace your siding and how much it costs.

Siding tip: Ask your siding installer for samples of grades, colors and textures and view them outside at different times of the day. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Paul E.)

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

More homeowners are choosing fiber cement over vinyl siding or real wood due to its durability and natural look. Discover other reasons to consider it.

Especially if your home's vinyl siding is in the shade, it will require regular cleanings to prevent mold and mildew from appearing. (Photo by Katelin Kinney)

Vinyl siding is durable and easily cleaned. It just takes some elbow grease, or a high-powered pressure washer! Either way, read up on how to best clean vinyl.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

Siding reviews in Wareham

We were so happy with
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his crews. It was important to us to have as little disruption as possible. The work was scheduled very well with each trade coordinating with the other to expedite the remodel. The workmanship was top quality. We are very pleased and would recommend K&B for a quality remodel at an excellent price.

I really liked working with this company.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
Short really knew about our style of house and had a lot of ideas to help us decide what was closest to original and what would make it stand out. His suggestion for the clear cedar
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
& groove on the porch ceiling turned out amazing and was definitely worth the add on. He came to our house for the quote and was very professional. He didn't talk badly about his competitors like other contractors I'd interviewed, only explained what they do differently. His original quote was a bit out of my budget but he called back with another proposal of ways to make it work. I was very touched he tried so hard to make it work for me because he knew how badly the work needed done and how much I wanted hardiplank instead of vinyl. They were one of the more expensive quotes I got but the quality is very good.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was managing other jobs so he wasn't around as much as I'd prefer when the work was done but that's understandable.

were wonderful to work with. Very friendly at all times and they were great about working until they reached a good stopping point even if it was after they were supposed to leave. They cleaned up after themselves every day. If I ever had a question or concern
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was open to explaining or changing something. Their electrician didn't come when they planned (repeatedly) so it took awhile to get the lighting installed and they had to make other arrangements but I don't blame them for that. The project ran over by almost 2 weeks but there were a lot of issues that we didn't know about until the tear off was done. The only other thing I would say is there were a few communications issues but for the most part they were resolved quickly. I was quoted for vented soffits but non-vented were installed (same price). I asked about this and was told that the vented wouldn't work after additional inspection (tear off) but that wasn't communicated to me until I asked. They were also a bit difficult about the paperwork for the energy trust credit. They are supposed to be a preferred contractor but I had to push for the completed paperwork. Overall I am very happy with the results and have gotten a lot of compliments from the neighbors. Since I grew up in this house (purchased from my parents) it was a huge change and almost a year later I still have a hard time believing this is my house! They stayed in budget even with the extra time & work they had to do. Thank you!

Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
continues to be my contractor of choice. The have always remained true to their written price and schedule estimates and provide unparalleled quality and craftsmanship. For example, I am still impressed with the quality of the interior window trim that was free handed with a small router that even nature couldn’t make any smoother or tighter.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
leaves the house at days end clean and unobstructed and removes all evidence of any construction when the job is complete.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
is sensitive to working around my dogs and operates equipment only after ensuring their safety.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
has an eye for color and design and isn’t bashful about sharing his opinion regarding color and wood choices.

In summary, after 21 years, every job
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
performed for me or my referrals was completed to my satisfaction, on time and at the agreed upon price. Absolutely went well!
- David B.

After the initial deception and a renegotiation of the contract, the quality of the craftsmanship and the supervision of the workers was terrible. There are tolerances for gaps that are acceptable for
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
board and some were corrected while others were not; after pointing it out several times, we were tired of talking. The lines of cuts and spacing of the boards are terrible and we were told, repeatedly, that "it all will come together in the end". My request was the those lines and spaces were straight from the start which would make the final touch-ups easy at the end. A framing nail gun was used at a pressure setting too high causing the nails to sink into the board too far which, also, weakens the board.

The communications between the owner, salesman, and production manager was terrible. This was demonstrated with the initial contract when the owner blamed the salesman for not clearly writing the more expensive
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
board on the contract, yet the Salesman said that he, the owner, and the production manager had a meeting to discuss the job.

They, also, put up rain gutters, but after looking at the gutters I realized that that was too difficult to do correctly. I'm fixing the problems myself.

Just a word of warning, do not waste your valuable time or money with these guys. Oh! I forgot to tell you about the hot water line that they sent a nail through causing our water to be off for 5 1/2 hours! Yeah, it was pretty cool. I couldn't wait to write the final check to get rid of them.

I normally do my own lawn but it was starting to look bad and I had been sick so I started looking for services online. I found several lawn care services but lucky for me Mr.
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the first to respond to my inquiries. He gave me a fair quote and was able to do my lawn aat a time convenient to my schedule. His customer service was very professional and his work was so well done, I might not do my own lawn anymore. I will definitely hire him again.
- Jennie R.

We were very impressed with
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
, and we will definitely use the company down the road. The gentleman arrived on time, provided a detailed estimate on-site, and was very professional at all times.

We chose
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
to do our two additions, which began in September of 2014. We chose them because they listened to my ideas and also suggested their own ideas that we liked. We found their work crews to be both professional and personal. They were respectful of our home and were prompt at cleaning up every day when they were done working. They explained each phase of the projects before they began, so if there were to be changes you could make them before they started, which saved much wasted time and materials. We decided to go with a
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
three - seasons room upon

. Woods suggestion because we loved the idea of being able to remove the glass panels in the warm months and replace them with screens. This gave us the full benefit of having a screened in porch for the summer months and a glassed-in room for the cooler months,
The Home Theater room is perfect - the electrician worked closely with me in understanding the installation of the 7.1 audio system and was able to set up the system so that all of the electronics are in a seperate room.
I was most impressed by
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
himself when we were outside discussing the three-seasons porch and he noticed that some of my roof tiles weren't sitting correctly. He later came back personally and re-sealed the tiles. This action on his part confirmed that I had chosen the right contractor and I would certainly use

Paid deposit of $500 but then the overall amount $1,575. He erroneously put in a 12 inch round column, after I repeatedly told him and pointed out the correct size (10 inch). After installation, I noticed something was wrong, and he simply noted it was something I'd have to get used to instead of offering to fix it. Mentioned he'd
Wareham Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
too much money if he took it down (was already paid in full at this point). He had ordered a 12 inch round which was incorrect in the first place, it also was not installed correctly. He left without fixing the situation and after calling him countless times, he still has not responded. I had another provider come in and take it down and replace it with the correct size, costing me an additional $1200. I told county consumer affairs about the issue, they tried to help but Arrow continues to be inflexible. Arrow told the same organization that he offered to help me but I would have to pay for the materials which was not what he told me the last day I had contact with them. Hasn't ever spoken to me about this resolution, and never returned a single phone call.
