"I contacted
on Friday afternoon. He said he would come over Saturday morning. Prior to his arrival I did some research on the cause of" the suds error which indicated a possible bad pressure sensor or control unit. Upon his arrival I shared that information with him. He performed several operational checks on the washer and then told me to leave it unplugged for an hour to possibly resolve the error. He appeared to be disinterested in the problem and told me he had several other service calls he had to attend to. He called back 5 hours and I told him the error had not cleared. He said he would return on Monday to run diagnostics on the machine. On Monday, he called and said he was going to order a pressure sensor and would come on Tuesday to replace the part. He arrived on Tuesday and opened the washer and took some readings from the washer (the first time he really did any diagnostics). At that time he said he had to go back to the shop to order the part. He returned several hours later with a pressure sensor and did the installation. A subsequent operational check revealed the same error and he removed the replacement part and put the original back in place. He then charged us $80 for the service call and suggested I seek another opinion, or he could come back tomorrow with a control unit for the washer. It appeared he either did not have the knowledge or training to repair the washer. If that was the case, I would have rather him just tell me that up front, as opposed to wasting four days as our dirty laundry continued to grow. At this point, I have decided to call an authorized Whirlpool service technician to repair the washer, which I should have done in the first place. I contacted
as he was local and had good reviews and I was looking for a quick resolution to the problem. What I received was a bill for $80, four wasted days waiting while the laundry piled up, and a washing machine that is no closer to being repaired.

"We had a great experience.
was came and diagnosed the problem. After determining that it would cost more for him to fix than if we went through" Whirlpool warranty, he suggested this to us and did not even charge us for his time. I will definitely call him again.

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

So consider Angie's List and find the best of the best in HVAC contractors!

I have never seen one of this type that does not exit the house. You would not want the grease dumping into your basement, even with a filter it will happen.

The greater part of your job will be carpentry as if there is a wall behind the stove a hole will have to be cut up through the basement into the wall up to the stove. Unless it is one of the stoves that allows for it to fit inside a cabinet below. To answer correctly most here would be a picture of where this project is being done. I have done motorized ones that extend up out of the counter when in use and then retract. Those exit through the cabinet and require the cook top is to the front of the counter and not a drop in one

As an added note these tend to be better as they do not pull the heat away from the stove top when in use as much as the ones flush with the stove. I have install quite a few and happen to have an Amana cook top with built in down draft and I have to shut it of to get water to boil on the back burners.

A carpenter will know what can be cut and what not in the basement, a sheet metal contractor should know as well but at the other end for the finish by the stove they might not. Most carpenters that do kitchens have installed the minimal amount of duct work for this. They just have to be carefull with the number of ellbows and the lenght of the duct.

He checked the interior temp of the freezer went through the controls, turned setting down and it shut off, he said the freezer is old and it would cost almost as much to put a new compressor than to buy a new freezer, watch the temp inside the freezer. I appeciate this honesty. I have used D&P before with good results.

My washer was shaking and he came to check it out. He was able to diagnose the problem quickly and tell me the cost of the part. Unfortunately, the part is expensive, so I didn't end up proceeding with repair. (Service call is $70, but I used the coupon. Ended up costing me $40).

I don't typically do reviews. I'm pretty tolerant of bad days and just let things roll. This just felt wrong. I was disappointed that I would have to wait 2 weeks to have the burner switch installed especially since he told me it was a common item and had used up his supply this week. It's a special order part that could have been ordered when I made the appointment with a little triage especially since I had to pay for the part prior to ordering it. The only thing he did on the first visit is write down model # and write up order for burner switch. He wasn't out anything. When I called & spoke to
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
(his wife) about my disappointment she told me if I wanted it fixed before Thanksgiving I should have called 2 weeks ago. Wow.
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
has a rough voice so I didn't hold that part against her but she continued to argue with me and let me know they were going on vacation & even though it would only take 15 minutes to install he didn't have time even if she was able to get the part. NICE.
When he did come to install he was punctual and I stayed with him. He chatted about his Thanksgiving vacation to Colorado & was pleasant as he changed the part. When he was done I tested the switch & about the 3rd time I pressed down on the knob there was a POP & Flash of light. He reset the circuit & said the wires probably touched & probably wouldn't happen again. Everything seemed to be fine. He said the part had a 90 warranty and his labor had a 30 day warranty? I find it weird those don't match. On Feb 23 while the Dallas area was having a winter event and I was cooking soup the burner switch POPPED/FLASHED again. This time when we reset the circuit breaker both front burners did not work so I called & spoke to
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
(very pleasant) & made and appointment for 2/27. It had only been 80 days. Once I got to thinking about it I called back and asked what it was going to cost me for him to come out and he said $60. I told him I just wanted a refund for the part I paid for but he said he would have to take it out himself & charge me $60 to do it. I told him he could have the whole
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
, just refund what I paid for the part and he said he couldn't do that. Actually, Since my husband looked up the part at
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
he knew it was a special order and it cost approx, $47-57. When my husband asked him about picking up from
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
part store he said he'd never heard of them. What appliance repair person has never heard of

part store. Lesson learned & $190 wasted. We felt trapped because we had purchased the certificate from Angie's List which we will never do again. We purchased a new cooked top.

I called for an appointment on Monday and was able to get scheduled on Tuesday (although I could have gotten an appointment the same day). The technician
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
showed up at the exact time and went right to work. From the symptoms I had described to the scheduler,
Springfield Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
came prepared with drum rollers, drum belt, and drum belt idler wheel. He disassembled the dryer efficiently and used my shop vac to vacuum out the entire unit before proceeding. The problem was the idler wheel which he replaced. He also checked and lubed the drum rollers, and carefully checked the belt which was OK and did not need replacing. He was done within a half hour. I highly recommend A & P appliance repair.
