Somerville Exterior Painters Reviews

"It went amazingly well.

went above and beyond, offering great suggestions for colors, recommending someone to do carpentry work and overseeing the job and in general, seemed to genuinely care about us and the work. The guys who did the work were very professional and did a really nice job.
"I met with
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
earlier this year in order to go over what our house needed in terms of a complete exterior paint job. He arrived punctually and spent a good deal of time going over each aspect of the work - from stripping, to prepping, to actually painting.
He was very professional and friendly and the examples of his work spoke for themselves. We agreed to sign a contract.
Unfortunately, we then learned we had to move for work and it took some time to get back in touch with
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. We still owned our home and it certainly needed to be painted so we arranged to have the work done while we were away. Of course we were concerned with not being there during the process but it ended up going over extremely well.
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
remained in touch at all times and easy to contact despite us being on the opposite coast. He gave us constant updates and showed us final pictures of the finished work as well.
We are extremely happy with the work
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his team have done for us. Not only was the painting done quickly and beautifully, but the entire process was very easy and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend

to any other home owners. Our house is beautiful now thanks to them!

and his team did a great job on our exterior paint job. They worked well with 3 sets of homeowners, helped us select the best paint colors, and had a real attention to detail. We had a young child there and they were cautious about the removal of old paint so as to mitigate lead paint exposure. They treated our home with respect. They worked with 3 different paint colors and our house is definitely the prettiest on the block. We get compliments all the time. We'd use them again.
Interior Kitchen
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
worked on our kitchen remodel. We were on a tight budget and he worked within it. A year later I can say it looks as good as the first day. I really wanted to use no VOC paints and he was supportive in my decision and helped me find the most appropriate paints for the cabinets so that they would last. He even did a sample with a paint brush v. sprayer to give me a sense. His team gave a real attention to detail, going above and beyond and skimcoating our walls so that everything looked perfect. Everything has held up extremely well and we are very satisfied.
We would use

again in a heartbeat for any paint jobs interior or exterior.

and his crew were great. We could not have been happier or more satisfied by their professionalism and the quality of their work. The prep work they did on the house was very impressive. They were very through. When additional work/materials were needed, Marcio always came to me to discuss the reasons and got my approval before moving forward. Marcio generally worked along with his crew and was very focused on making sure the job was done right. When Marcio was not there, his crew remained hard at work. They did an exceptional job cleaning up each day. Our neighborhood is 5 houses on a dead end street, so the realtionship with the neighbors was very important. Marcio handled all of this very well. I would definately use them again.
"I needed to have the facade of my house repaired and repainted. This involved replacing clapboard, shingles and trim, rebuilding a deck and its ceiling, restoring and refinishing an antique door, and painting or staining all surfaces on the front of the house. Although the sides and back of the house are vinyl siding and did not need repair, the facade is a big project on its own, as this is a large, multi-family home with a lot of period details. This is also the type of project that will be the first of many, as the scope of all repairs needed is too large and expensive to do at once, but is also not time-critical. In short, this is a desirable project for a good contractor, as it will lead to much more business down the road. (Not to mention high visibility, with many potential referrals.)
For a job of this size and scope, I took several estimates and spoke with many contractors. The bids fell in the range of $15-30K. ICS is very highly reviewed on Angie's List, so I contacted them for an estimate. In my estimate request, I explained that the house is a three-story
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
, that the front porch needed to be replaced with composite, and that some clapboard needed to be replaced as well. I didn't get into every detail, but I thought this was sufficient to describe the scope of the project.
They declined to come out for an estimate appointment for a "partial" job, and would only provide an estimate for a full (all sides) exterior painting project plus repairs (if I was interested in replacing all my siding with red cedar or

I understand that no company is required to take my business. But I do think that this response on the part of ICS shows, at best, a lack of familiarity with the type of buildings in this area. At worst, it may indicate a company policy of unnecessary upselling.

was one of 3 or 4 companies we contacted to bid on the job. They called us back promptly and came out to look at the house when they said they would. We walked around the house together and they took notice of the extent of work necessary. Not painted in well over 10 years, the house needed extensive shingle repair and/or replacement in addition to the basic painting.

(sorry, I don't remember their last names) were the two people from the company who we dealt with. Both were professional, competent and very easy to work with. As all of the quotes we received were similar, we made the decision to use Capital because, basically, we liked them and trusted them. They gave us a detailed contract, including a step-by-step description of the work to be done. Once we signed, they told us the job would take about 2 weeks to complete and they would start one week after we signed. Throughout, they showed up when they said they would and worked steadily until all the work was completed. We had ample time to talk with them throughout, to point out things they'd missed (very few), to make decisions about color & style, etc. They (especially
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
) was very knowledgeable about the work and very helpful when we were confused (I was often confused; my husband not so much). In addition to a complete repair & repainting job, they also took down old rotten lattice work around the front porch and replaced it with new lattice work (painted to match the main house color). They were careful with our plants and everything was cleaned up and spotless when they were done. The job took exactly 2 weeks from start to finish.

Our house looks just wonderful now. We love the new color (our neighbors love it, too) and we are very pleased with the whole experience.
"After receiving a referral from a cousin, I contacted them to have my living room, stairway, hallway, and kitchen painted. They finished the job and I was very impressed with their quality of work, professionalism, and friendly communication. The owner emailed and called me within 12 hours of my first inquiry. He provided a very reasonable estimate and was flexible to meeting me at my home and around my busy schedule--plus he was very punctual. He was helpful in answering my questions and made me feel comfortable in communicating my specific needs/concerns with him. Additionally, he seemed to be a bit of a perfectionist, which

to a great attitude from him if something wasn't done as up to par as it could have been done. They seemed to be genuinely friendly, responsible guys, and I felt at ease having them in my home. The owner oversees licensed plumbers, mason-workers, etc, and they seem to be a one stop shop for a lot of my needs, so I foresee myself going back to them again.
From their reps to their workers, all were excellent . Very responsive to every facet of the job. My house is 120 yrs old and the shingles were not in great shape. They replaced shingles were they had to and tightened up many more. They spent about a week on the prep work more than anticipated and the price did not change. There are plants and bushes and gardens around the property, they covered it all only as long as needed. At the end of every day the clean up was such that you would never know they were there. The paint job came out fantastic and my wife and I could not be happier.
Thank You

"The job got done in the end, I'll give them that. Apart from that, it went about as badly as possible.

I hired
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
September 1, 2010. They estimated $6000 to paint the house plus carpentry. During the next couple of months they scraped and washed the house, and found an additional $4000 of carpentry. Since this was a substantial amount relative to the original quote, and it was all stuff that was quite visible from the outside, I thought a little warning might have been nice at quote time. But whatever.

Last fall was the usual New England patchwork of rain and sun. They didn't seem to have much availability to be at the house, many sunny days went by without work being done, and winter arrived before the house could be caulked or primed. It sat for the next 7 months as an eyesore to the neighborhood, with much bare wood exposed to the rain and snow.

Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
left the property for the winter littered with wood scraps, food wrappers, a large trash pile, and a broken 6' stepladder. I called several times until they removed the trash pile, as my city issues tickets about this. I've just finished cleaning up the rest.

This spring a subcontractor arrived. They didn't know my name or phone number, or what colors I'd asked for. They didn't have the illustrations I'd prepared, which I had both given and emailed to
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
. They did not rescrape or rewash, although the house had been exposed to a winter season without prime or paint. They'd apparently received no instructions beyond "Go to this address and paint it".

The subcontractor did a decent job and cleaned up after themselves. I'll review them separately and favorably.

But I wouldn't hire
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
again. I wasn't offered so much as an apology, much less a discount, for the long hiatus in this job. It certainly resulted in my house being damaged by weather and taking on water, and since it was not reprepped in spring, I doubt the paint will hold up. It'll be interesting to see what
Somerville Exterior Painters Provider Name Locked
will do about it then, since they do have a warranty, but my hopes are not high.

Overall, this was not at all the quality of painting service that I thought I was hiring.
"Everything went great. He was very friendly and professional. He did such a great job I kept using him for all of my projects. He is very clean and neat. I never had a problem working with him. I would recommend this company to anyone."
