"
came in to consult with me on window treatments for the master bedroom, loft area and bathroom of my new condo. I had a strong idea of what" I wanted and
was easily able to plug into my style and what would suit me. She has a number of great professionals that she works with and was able to get the exact treatments I wanted and have them installed to her (and my) exacting requirements. I am very happy with what I ended up with and with
's help and guidance throughout the whole process. I would definitely recommend
's service to others and would use her again myself. In fact, she plans to get back to me for an upholstery project.

"I WOULD NOT recommend
of
for any design/
/remodeling/etc. work. She bills herself as someone" who has "morphed" into turn-key residential remodeling and commercial design. If you are looking for reputable and warrantied remodeling work, hire a licensed, experienced contractor. We had problems every step of the way with
and her "sub-contractors" after we purchased a 30 year old home that needed updating and remodeling....to the tune of over $25,000 by the time we were done with
. She was rarely present to oversee or "sign-off" on the work done in our home.....carpentry work, wood floor, electrical fixture and bathroom vent installation, tile backsplash installation and custom plantation shutters. Her carpenter built "custom" mirrors for our bathrooms on walls that were not level and added shelves and clothes rods and doors for the master closet. The mirrors had to be re-done 3 times, and we were left with huge mirrors that are now pulling away from the walls and coming apart at the seams and have a distorted reflection - much like a fun house. We were also left with holes in the wall where the mirrors were removed and reattached to the wall. We were told to have our painters (not hired by
- we wised up by that time) to repair the holes and to also fill in the cracks at the mirror corners (not mitered well!), even though the painter had nothing to do with those issues. We waited three weeks for a transition to be made from the new wood closet floor to the existing travertine in the master bath, and then
tried to pass off white, textured, raised tile as matching the travertine tile in our bathrooms - which was tan/brown and flat - completely different tile. Plus, using tile to do the transition would have necessitated tearing up existing tile (more money for
) when we specifically asked for a wood transition (no tile tear-up, less money for
). We won that battle but it took another week of staining and re-staining the transition to get it right. It was up to us to inspect work as it was completed, and when it wasn't done well,
always supported the sub contractors and made excuses for them rather than supporting her paying clients. She demanded pay for overseeing shutter installation that she was not present for and never called to check on. Her carpenter (
) refused to complete agreed upon work on our baseboards because he "simply wasn't willing to do it" per
. My understanding is that he wasn't pleased that we had issues with his shoddy work. We now have wood floor boards that have cracked, but
refuses to put me in contact with the floor guy (
Floors). I have tried to contact him myself but I'm sure he has been told by
not to return our calls. I have asked for the warranty information on the floors and other work that was done, but
will not supply that information to us. My perception is that
is upset or angry that we were not pleased with some of the work done and after a while we found other sub contractors to do some of the work - painting and windows, which she wasn't happy about since she wouldn't make money off them, I suppose. I believe that because we were unhappy clients,
refuses to communicate with us and supply us with warranty information. Basically, she does not stand by her work.
's bookkeeping and accounting skills were also called into question when she asked for a $2000 payment towards some of the work that I had already paid, two weeks prior. After my stating that the check had cleared the bank, she admitted that the check had been credited to another client. We also returned from vacation to find our air conditioner thermostat turned down to 60 degrees, the unit running continuously, but the house temp was nearly 90.
's floor installers had turned it down while they were working, left it turned down and the unit broke. Of course that was our fault, not sure why, but it was. My husband had tools taken from the house, our pool cleaning unit was clogged and subsequently broke from rag covered in tile grout that was tossed into our pool and the tile powder and left over grout was dumped inside our fence near the pool to "flow" into the
, rather than disposed of properly.
said this was standard procedure. Every "sub contractor"
had in our home left a huge mess when they were done - saw dust everywhere, masking tape residue all over the counter tops, grout on tiles...
said I might want to hire a professional cleaning service if I wanted the house clean after all work was done. This is a very long review, I could make it longer, there were so many issues, but I'll just say if you are looking for quality, reputable work and someone who stands by their work, do not use
or anyone associated with her.ca

I know you said you didn't want a realtor but I do know someone who is good.  Her name is Pam Hunt and she is with William E. Wood.

Otherwise I would check out interior designers.  They could make suggestions and outline some finer details that could help you stage your home.

In the meantime start packing away those personal momentos and pictures.  Clear and clean the walls.  Go with a neutral paint color throughout the house.  Oyster by Behr is a classic.  Start getting rid of clutter.  If you haven't worn it in 3 years or used it in 5....pitch it.  Depending on how long you have lived in your home the accumulation of "things" could be tremendous. Donate your unwanted and unused to a thrift store.  It is tax deductible. Get appliances off the counters in the kitchen.  Buyers want to imagine "their" things sitting there.  Get rid of heavy drapes and go with  sheers consistent throughout the house.  Make rooms look larger by chucking some furniture.  Sell it or put it in storage until you have moved.  How is the floor?   Carpet removed may reveal beautiful hardwoods that are in high demand right now.  Pets?  Get someone to come give you the "sniff" test.  We grow acustomed to the smell of our house and might not recognize pet stinkies. Make everything shine by cleaning thoroughly, and let in the light.  Bright rooms are inviting.  Dark rooms are depressing. These things will give you a head start and clear your mind for some good ides.  Good luck with your interior designer.

I have lost count of how many kitchens I have remodeled and I prefer Brushed Stainless Steel sinks. Polished will show scratched more  and with the brushed finish if you wipe with the grain with a milld scrub pad and an old time product called Bar Keepers Friend the look good almost forever. If you have any concerns about scratches in the bottom you can use a grid when needed, most sink manufacturers make them for their sinks. You say you have stains in a solid surface siink and it is probably the older generation. The newer ones have a high stone content to the mix and are less prone to this but I still prefer stainless.

Unclutterer had a post about this a few months back. While I didn't use the photo gallery method she suggested, I did check out the comments to find some other interesting solutions: http://unclutterer.com/2011/04/04/easily-hang-an-organized-photo-gallery-with-the-perfectpicturewall/

Pat Speck provided inspiration as well as hard goods for our condo remodel. She guided me out of my dull comfort zone and turned my 1400 sq ft condo into a beautiful, updated home. She suggested flooring and advised where I could see it in application. She suggested updates that I never would have thought of and they turned out fantastic. She understood my vision and added professional decorating polish to it. She is always available to answer my questions and advise me even on the smallest matter. She obviously loves what she does and her enthusiasm is contagious.

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU HIRE
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
!! It started great because we liked everything she was doing, so we overlooked her tardiness, her sick husband, traffic. After 3 days and more pictures and stuff than we agreed to, we asked for the receipts. To our surprise, the costs grew from $3K to $9K. Here's how
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
and
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
will play you. They will start with the little stuffs and be very friendly. Then, they will ask you to pay them for the full amount of the project. Then, they will tell you that the credit card was either declined or did not go through. They will ask for a 2nd credit card and run that too. Again, shame on us for trusting these people. So you know, it can take 24-48 hours for your charges to post. DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE. 1) ASK FOR a Contract- they appear super nice, but as time goes by- someone will be sick, will need surgery, a loss of a baby, husband in bad accident, flu etc...... They will never call you back in a timely manner 2) do not pay till the job is complete 3) DO NOT PAY CASH!!! We got our credit card company involved. On 11/20/2014, we settled with
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
. She was supposed to give us a $900 cash. Guess what?!?!?! she has had the flu, 2 surgeries, car troubles, etc... we are done with her and

So here is our story, we purchased our home at the end of 2010 at the bottom of the
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
. We knew the house had a lot of potential but we also knew that we had to spend serious money to make it the way we wanted. We waited until last year and got a line of credit since the prices went up so much. Now we were ready but did know not where to start. After interviewing several companies we decided to go with
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
. They presented themselves as the complete package where they were going to do the entire project, from design to architectural plans, since we wanted to expand our master bedroom and living room, to the actual management and construction. Well, after almost five months of intense work, we can definitely say that we made the right choice. Everything went as planned; they were so professional and caring throughout the entire process. They have LOTS of patience for people, I have a hard time making up my mind, and they were great by guiding us in the right direction but never in a pushy way. It was such a pleasure to work with such talented group of people and will recommend them to all my friends and family.

When I needed her, she was giving birth. I couldn’t get in touch with her when I needed her, and all I got was a drawing of a kitchen, which isn’t the room I was working on right now.

I paid her $2,500 and she didn’t give me back a dime. One visit was a free consultation. Another time was to see
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
, the contractor, and another for me. She didn’t do any drawings or emails for the rooms I was actually doing. We never got anything, neither
Pittsfield Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
nor I, even thought she said she'd email us the drawings and plans, or that her assistant would.

I sent her a registered letter asking for most of the money back - I think $500 is fair for what she did, and I should get the rest back. She texted me and said no one has ever asked her for money back and she needed to sit down with her accountant. She said she'd get back to me within the week, but it's been a few weeks now. She also then thanked me for the gifts I sent to her baby - the first time she'd mentioned that.
