I ordered this Big Deal on September 2, 2013. My initial contacts, on September 3, 2013, with
were very impressive. My communication and inquiries (both email and telephone contacts) that were handled by the office staff were professional, friendly, and very helpful. I was highly impressed. I was pleasantly surprised to find that
would accommodate my work schedule and have a Landscape Designer meet with me on a Saturday. I then got a follow up call from the Landscape Designer on September 6, 2013. We made an appointment to meet in a little over a week, and we then met as scheduled. The Designer was prompt, friendly, and professional. He brought along an album of his previous work for me to see the type of landscaping plans and work he had done, which was very helpful. We reviewed photos of elements of the design that I would like to include, and I provided him ideas of some type of plants/trees that I was interested in including. We walked the property, with the emphasis on a rock garden/hill area that had incorporated into it crumbling railroad steps that needed to be replaced. I requested, and he agreed, to provide a break out of costs on two layers - 1) reworking the hardscape; and 2) the new plantings. When he left, he told me to expect the plans in a week or two. Up until this point, I had been thoroughly impressed with
, and everyone I had dealt with there.
When three weeks had passed, with no word from the Designer, I contacted
on October 5, 2013, to ask where the plans were. The Designer indicated he was away from the office, but would contact me on Monday, October 7, 2013, to schedule a second meeting to deliver the plans. Monday October 7, 2013 came and went without any contact from him. On the Wednesday, October 9, 2013, I had to call again. I was informed that the plans were done, and I asked him to email them to me. When I asked why I did not hear from him on Monday, as he had indicated, he had no comment.
I received the plan by email two days later, on Friday, October 11, 2013. And I must say I was rather disappointed. This disappointment may be due to my over-expectation. The plan struck me as bare bones. Although it did incorporate certain elements that I had requested be added, it contained almost no other elements that I would consider a contribution to the design by a Landscape Designer - so I'm not even sure why I bothered with getting a professional design. (At my prior residence, a new condo community, each condo had private courtyard, and local landscape designers provided proposals with plans and quotes free of charge which were as detailed or more detailed than the one I just paid for under this Big Deal.) The view of the rock/hill is provided from a bird's eye view only, and the plan as sketched does not appear to work with the three tiered
of rocks/boulders that will need to be taken into account. The plan did not address one or two items that I had expressly inquired about. And finally, the plan came with no quote for costs for any element. I can only assume that this project was considered too small to garner much attention, and that so much time passed (a month) between the Designer's view of the property and his drawing up of the plans that his recall of the details suffered, and thus so did the plan.
Overall, my thoughts are: I feel like I've had to chase down the Designer to get these plans, and I've yet to get the quote. If this is the level of attention I am going to get when the option of hiring
to do this work,is on the table, what level of attention could be expected once they were to be awarded the contract? I am not optimistic, and thus feel I'll look elsewhere to get the work done.

Update: Following the above review, I was recontacted by the Designer who tried to address all of my concerns. His efforts included a revised sketch and budget. I'm still not sure what I will do with this project; I will likely take some time to consider some options. However, I appreciated the extent that this company went to attempt to make me a happy customer.

Great!
was our third vendor to provide a quote, and it was clear from the start he was our first choice. His vision for our project specifically and passion for his line of work overall was very impressive. When his quote was actually the lowest I was shocked, and it made hiring
a very easy decision.

From that day forward
was very responsive, provided constant updates, and was happy to share his thoughts on things outside the scope of our job (such as planting in the area afterwords, even an assessment of our aging deck [a job for another day]). The work was done in only two days (by
and two additional members of his team), which was quite impressive as I was expecting three and maybe even part of a fourth. The cost was spot on the contracted estimate, no
extras or surprises.

It was
who recommended going with granite steps, and he was right - they look awesome! They really pop, and granite lasts forever. His design for the front walk, with a bit of a curve and a curved bottom front step transform the entrance to our house. It came out better than we could have envisioned, looks straight out of a magazine or brochure.

The back was a more
job. It's a walkout from our finished basement, which I can only assume use to be covered by a bulkhead. The steps were mere boards on cinder blocks, an area impossible to keep clean of leaves and vermin, and an eyesore when looking out the window in the backdoor, no less when actually using the steps. The new granite steps, filled in behind them with loose stone, obviously look a hundred times better but also make maintenance a breeze. New pavers and some loose stone at the bottom look much nicer than what was there before and still allow for the necessary drainage.

We couldn't have had a more positive experience with
!

The quality of the work was excellent. He responded to some real small concerns with the mulching and made it right. Threw in a couple of down spout changes that were not part of the original deal. He was up front that he could not start for about 4 weeks when he gave the estimate due to his workload. The price was in line with his estimate not one penny over. I would recommend him for comparable work in the future

We were happy with
Norton Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
and his professionalism. He explained everything he would do and answered our questions. We went with a different vendor who we felt had a better vision for us and was more within our budget. We would consider
Norton Patio Pavers Provider Name Locked
in the future.
