was a pleasure to work with. She was prompt, professional and had very good ideas to help us better utilize and decorate our new home. She" provided specific guidance, measurements and options for us to consider, which she summarized and sent electronically after the visit. She was great!

-Marta V.

"We contacted the seller of our home to find out who had provided our carpeting and tile because we were having ridges popping up in most of the rooms of our home," upstairs and down. The seller provided the receipt, so we contacted
, where the receipt originated. We have been in our home just under three years. We did notice a few ridges in the carpet about three months after moving in. They got increasingly worse and more numerous as time went on. I called
to ask if they could help us out with this, basically if they would stand behind their product. I was told that they would not, that I should have called right away when we first noticed the ridges. I really think this is unreasonable because three years ago we had just made a major move, gotten unpacked and settled. I can't imagine packing every thing up and moving all the furniture out to have it restretched three months after moving in. I had previously called another company about having the carpet restretched. The person on the phone said that had they been the original installer they would have stood behind it because they gave a !00% guarantee. That's what gave me the idea to find out who had originally installed our carpet to see if they had a similar policy. Update several months later: Since writing the above we had a leak from the toilet in the master bath. A contractor other than
was called and they replaced a ring under the toilet. They told us that it was not a professional job whoever installed the flooring under the toilet. They said it was standard practice to put concrete board under toilets, which had not been done. They were sure that this caused the toilet to leak because the structure of the floor was not solid enough. They also said they had never seen a type of screw that held the toilet down onto the floor used before. We now need repair on the ceiling below the toilet also, as the leak was slow and caused mold buildup and softening in the shower ceiling below. Additionally, there is a crack in the tile near the toilet that the improper subflooring caused when weight on the toilet occurred in normal use. Another tile in the foyer was loose and not sealed properly, something we discovered after moving in. The receipt we have shows that
did the tile job. They apparently used subcontractors who did a lousy job that possibly saved the sellers some money, but caused us lots of money and headaches after the sale. I do not plan on doing business with
in the future. I will go with a company that stands behind their product and workmanship.

I know you said you didn't want a realtor but I do know someone who is good.  Her name is Pam Hunt and she is with William E. Wood.

Otherwise I would check out interior designers.  They could make suggestions and outline some finer details that could help you stage your home.

In the meantime start packing away those personal momentos and pictures.  Clear and clean the walls.  Go with a neutral paint color throughout the house.  Oyster by Behr is a classic.  Start getting rid of clutter.  If you haven't worn it in 3 years or used it in 5....pitch it.  Depending on how long you have lived in your home the accumulation of "things" could be tremendous. Donate your unwanted and unused to a thrift store.  It is tax deductible. Get appliances off the counters in the kitchen.  Buyers want to imagine "their" things sitting there.  Get rid of heavy drapes and go with  sheers consistent throughout the house.  Make rooms look larger by chucking some furniture.  Sell it or put it in storage until you have moved.  How is the floor?   Carpet removed may reveal beautiful hardwoods that are in high demand right now.  Pets?  Get someone to come give you the "sniff" test.  We grow acustomed to the smell of our house and might not recognize pet stinkies. Make everything shine by cleaning thoroughly, and let in the light.  Bright rooms are inviting.  Dark rooms are depressing. These things will give you a head start and clear your mind for some good ides.  Good luck with your interior designer.

I have lost count of how many kitchens I have remodeled and I prefer Brushed Stainless Steel sinks. Polished will show scratched more  and with the brushed finish if you wipe with the grain with a milld scrub pad and an old time product called Bar Keepers Friend the look good almost forever. If you have any concerns about scratches in the bottom you can use a grid when needed, most sink manufacturers make them for their sinks. You say you have stains in a solid surface siink and it is probably the older generation. The newer ones have a high stone content to the mix and are less prone to this but I still prefer stainless.

Unclutterer had a post about this a few months back. While I didn't use the photo gallery method she suggested, I did check out the comments to find some other interesting solutions: http://unclutterer.com/2011/04/04/easily-hang-an-organized-photo-gallery-with-the-perfectpicturewall/

Interior Design reviews in Northampton

My wife and I hired
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
, the owner of
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
, at the beginning stage of planning a major remodel of an 1800 sq. ft. condo in a Waikiki high-rise. Our tastes are a little edgy and in the direction of contemporary. The unit looked like it had an interior right out of the 1970s. We were at the stage of brainstorming about what to do, how much to do, how to handle the kitchen, etc. I had my own pretty strong design ideas, but fitting them together into a coherent plan was greatly facilitated by consulting with an interior designer.
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
contributed a lot to that process, and she was particularly helpful in planning the kitchen cabinetry and layout. Her services were reasonably priced, intelligently thought through, and we would recommend her highly.
- James M.

I purchased the deal for 2 hours of design consultation and that wasnt much useful. In the two hours no real suggestions that we hadnt thought of before (but reaffirmation was useful!). We wanted color consultation but she asked to schedule later at some paint shop. The deal seemed to be more geared toward advertising her services in case you want to hire her for a longer project. She was polite and professional but not very useful in our case.
- Puneet G.

I hired
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
to help me with an online paint color consultation for my whole house. I sent her pictures as she requested. She then sent me pictures of colors she thought I should paint. She does not discuss things with you nor give you options to see what you like, what works with the light in the room, what you thought after testing it, etc. She does not ask for your opinion nor whether you liked it or not.. She suggests a color and if you don't like it then she defaults to gray, and then tells you that her consultation services are over! For example, she suggested a bright yellow for my master bedroom, and an orange for the bathroom. When I told her I didn't like these bright colors (who does??? I have nothing orange in my house!), she defaulted to gray and then told me it was over. Similar things happened with suggestions in the rest of the house. My kitchen is very dark, with dark wood cabinets and black countertops. Her suggestion was to paint it grey. Really? For a kitchen that's already dark? When I didn't agree, she then suggested a gray blue. Gray and beige are two colors I did not want. The color she suggested for my living room was ok but then I realized that one wall in the living room is also part of the stairs/hallway and that I couldn't paint one continuous wall with two different colors. She ignored my question and never responded. And she never finished the project because I never received color suggestions for trim nor ceilings. Basically, I wasted money and am back to square one! I do not recommend her at all!

Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
was great! From our first meeting, her communication style, her ability understand my style and how to incorporate into my new home, and relying on her resources to meet deadlines.
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
has the experience to work on any project and does a good job guiding you though the process. She went above and beyond to help me get moved in. She checked on the status often and made sure to take care of any issues with the companies we chose to buy furniture, or any products from. I highly recommend

She gave me some great ideas. I have a fair budget for remodeling but I don't want to overspend on unnecessary things. She helped me with advice about where to get the biggest bang for the buck, specific advice about furniture layout and the best things do do for my kitchen remodel. I will call her again for sure - I know I will need much more help but I have been so busy with other things, without a good general contractor, my remodel has been super slow,
- Kelly Z.

She met with us in our home several times, discussing our preferences and providing floor plans of possible
furniture arrangements. She helped us choose the color and pattern of the
wallpaper and located an area rug whose pattern matched the wallpaper pattern.
She accompanied us twice to a furniture store and advised us on the selection...More /> of two recliners and a sofa to coordinate with an existing recliner. We had a
problem with fabrics being out of stock and she was very helpful in finding
other fabrics we liked. During the entire time she assisted us, she was available,
responsive, prompt and professional. Her services were well worth her fee. We
have no reservations about recommending her.

She arrived on time and spent 2 hours talking with me to determine what I was looking for. She emailed her recommendations later that same day. I decided to use her to purchase the items she recommended.
- Robert S.

I need to get my condo remodeled but was waiting until i retired to do it. The carpets are worn, walls need to be painted, the ceiling popcorn removed, and we need new window treatments, and lighting.
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
gave us great advice on a completely new look that won't break the bank. I am very impressed with his interior design ideas. Everything made sense from the time he walked in the door until he left. He has been in the business for quite a while and knows his stuff. We have confidence in
Northampton Interior Designers Provider Name Locked
and are going to hire him to do our remodeling.
