"He started the project in the afternoon and work till mid-night. (10 hours non stop). You will never find a person hard working as
." His performance is professional, and the quality of his work is superior . He is pleasant, friendly, helpful and caring. The reason he stayed till midnight was because he wanted to make sure we were secure with a locked door. The project took much longer to complete because the unexpected extensive rotted area was in need to be fixed before the door can be installed. My husband and I were worried about the noise being late night.
said " safety first, it is emergency"! He insisted to complete the job even he had to stay late, we were very impressed with his work attitude. Thanks to
, we now have a very nice new back door that hanged perfectly. and knowing that all the rots had been removed, all trims repaired, he also did best job on caulking my whole house. We trust
will do a perfect job, and will hire him again for future projects. I highly recommend him for your project. Great price, excellent work.

How much does siding cost to replace?

Siding is critical in protecting your home from weather and structural damage. Understand when you need to replace your siding and how much it costs.

Siding

Unless they are made of brick or stone, most homes are protected by some form of exterior siding. Traditionally made of wood, siding now comes in several materials including aluminum and vinyl. Each has its strengths and weaknesses to consider.

Call and ask your contractors these questions.  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  It is your money and home.  I would ask for references and take a look at samples of their work (especially the low bidder).  Make sure all are licensed and carry the required insurance.  You don't want to get a bad stucco job, so do your homework first before selecting a contractor; which may not be one of these.  Check with your local building department and local building exchange for more references on these and other contractors.  Good luck.

Alside is the far superior siding. Another option with the Alside is the Center Lock panel. It locks in the center of the panel, eliminating wind blow-offs,has a 3/4 inch profile, and carries the same warranty as the Charter Oak

Both choices have plusses and minuses.

I am partial to vinyl siding myself if it is put on by a contractor that pays attention to details in sealing against water intrusion. The better grades of vinyl stand up to the weater very well. The siding on my own home is over 15 years old and shows no signs of fading or any changes due to sun exposure and have had no problems with water entry around windows or doors. It does not dent like the old aluminum siding did or break if hit by a ball or a rock thrown by a lawnmower. As long as you save a few extra panels even if a rock was to be broken by something like a rock it is easier to repair. I will add that the earlier vinyl sidings did tend to fade but I have seen homes I sided after putting additions on that were done 20+ years ago and they look fine. Those closer to the 30 year mark not as good on the fading though. I gennerally never use the cheaper panels though so I can not vouch for them but I think that as long as it is one of the better manufaturers it seems to be just panel thickness. Just a personal opinion but if you are looking for added insulation I would use one of the 4X8 or 2X8 panels rather than the insulated siding. I can not see how insulation on the back of each panel with all the joints can do much more than stiffen the panels and I would think it would hamper the movement of the panels with changes in temperature.

As for Hardi or any of the other fibre cement sidings it is way more costly and relys on caulk or tar paper strips between the panels to seal out water. It is not very forgiving on install mistakes and must be done perfectly to get the full Hardi warranty. I was just involved with a job where the contractor did not put a few pieces of flashing in properly and his guys lapped a corner board incorrectly and the Hardi lifetime warranty was void. Another thing I did not like is that it is put in with a blind nailing method and even though this house was done to specs in this area of the install the bottom of the siding was not tight to the lower courses in many spots. They did install it to the maximum exposure and I believe if they had gone to a larger panel or even lessened the exposure by 1/2" it probably would have been fine. The other thing I saw was the paint seems to be prone to scratching durring install and to me the house looked like it needed a paint job even though siding was new. I do think that if painted after install a paint job would last many years as the product is very stable and does not expand and contract much. The one big plus I see is it tend to HELP in and area prone to fires such as some ares out West.  I put the word help in capitals because it will not fireproof the home but may stop ignition from sparks and moderate heat exposure.

"Normal" construction practice dictates that the contractor remove all tools, unused materials (that you did not pay for) and scrap, and leave the worksite in a "broom clean" condition - this would include disposing (as he wishes) of removed saleable scrap - be it siding, old HVAC equipment, metal piping, etc.

Generally, unless you are talking copper sheet roofing or decorative copper ceiling panels or such, or in some cases very old in-demand recyclable timber or full-thickness hardwood flooring, the value of the metals will only marginally pay for his labor to load it and haul it to the metal recycler - especially with painted materials, which typically go for about half or less the going "clean metal" rate.

Look at the other side - how much hassle and cost will it take YOU to cut or bend the sheets into transportable lengths (since probably 10-12 foot pieces for full lengths) and haul them to a metal recycler - who may only be open during your normal work hours so you have to take time off, and maybe borrow or rent a pickup or trailer to haul it too ? All for a couple hundred $ in scrap value. Also - in some areas - scrap dealears are now limited by law to accepting construction scrap only from licensed contractors, because of the increased problem with people stripping houses and stealing from construction sites, so you as an individual might not even be able to sell it.

I am a very particular consumer especially when it comes to hiring contractors. I used to be a General Contractor myself so I've seen all the tactics and heard all the excuses that can arise. I received bids from three different door/window replacement contractors. Not only did I feel that J&J had the best door at the best price, but they also had a payment plan I was impressed with. My total job was around $5,400.00. I gave them $1,500.00 down to get the job scheduled and also to get the doors ordered. The balance was due 30 days from the installation completion date. This is unheard of in the contracting marketplace.....I promise you. They stated that they wanted to make sure that I was happy and that everything was to my satisfaction. Well, the installation went great. I did have a few questions for them and they promptly came back to my house the following day and answered all my questions. I will use them again in the near future for some window replacements and would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

The sales presentation and estimate that I received was actually a little higher than the final cost, but was exactly what I wanted. The job foreman and original crew were excellent and quick, doing much of the house - replacing the damaged original support structure necessary to install the new
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
Board fiber cement planks, installing the siding and trim and caulking and finishing that portion of the job. The first part of the project went very well and quickly, then due to an unforeseen and potentially dangerous electrical problem unrelated to this company, the job had to be postponed until the local power company could rectify the problem. At this point, the job was completed satisfactorily, but seemed to be almost an afterthought, even though the final payment had not been made. I believe that some jobs were not performed smoothly due to the fact that our location is physically somewhat distant from the company's normal working area and their normal contractors were not available in our area. It was necessary for me to get more involved in supplying local contractors for some functions than I would have liked, creating a certain amount of stress. The original crew were fantastic, doing very good work and completing most of the opening phase of the job. after the enforced delay, the crew brought in to complete the job were less pleasant, and they damaged some of the electrical work that had been done, but they did complete the job quickly and in a satisfactory manner. Repair of the damage and certain other equipment expenses that were generated by the unexpected delay were compensated for in the final payment. The inspector completed his inspection and cleared the job in short order.
The completed job garners much admiration from our neighbors, and we are completely satisfied with the finished product. All worked called for in the contract was completed in a professional manner. Contact with the company was satisfactory for the most part, being somewhat sparse during the enforced break, which I found to be understandable. Once the electrical problems were repaired, the job was finished quickly. I am happy with the overall project and would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone wishing to get the best siding applied to their home at a competitive price.

This is my first time using a professional for home remodeling jobs and I am extremely pleased with
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
. All-in-all they have done an outstanding job and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I will definitely contact them in the future for any other projects.
Added a 100 square foot addition to the master bath, gutted existing bath, new walk-in shower, toilet, vanities, medicine cabinets, electrical, flooring, linen cabinet, granite counter tops, water heater, recirculating pump, install pocket doors on bathroom and master closet. Project has gone extremely well, although slower than I thought it would be. So far has taken 8 weeks and another week to go. Part of the hold-up was on the granite. I think the rest of the hold-up was the contractor having several other projects going on at the same time.
Everyone who has worked on the project has been extremely polite and courteous. I've never worried about any of the workers or having them in my home, a really great bunch of folks. A little messy (drywall dust, mud, dirt, etc.) but that may be par for the course in a project like this. Project Manager Nick and owner
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
have been excellent to work with. had great ideas and even added some extra surprises. They're very good at keeping me informed of scheduling and are very easy to contact with issues.
After the master bath is finished they will update the guest bath with new flooring, toilet, granite counter top, faucets, lights, and medicine cabinet.
I also had them extend my patio while they were pouring the foundation for the addition.

A large work crew showed up as scheduled and stared removing the gutters and replacing dry rotted trim on the house and bay windows. The crew included craftsmen in wood repair and others that were very good at forming the aluminum trim pieces to fit the wood trim on the house. The amount of craftsmanship in forming and fitting the aluminum around the bay windows and front entryway was above what was expected. All wood repairs and aluminum covering work was completed in two days. A second crew of two men came by and installed the new gutters the next day in about two hours. All workers for this company were professional in the performance of there work.

We hired
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
for our window replacement project based on a recommendation from a friend and after a positive meeting with Buck
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
, owner. We discussed the different types of siding and window options and after numerous changes and estimates, came up with the plan to replace the old, rotted casement window with an obscure glass
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
awning window that would be more functional for the space. The entire front of the bumpout was to be resided with LP Smartside to blend with the existing siding on the rest of the house. On Friday,
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
10 a crew of 4 guys showed up to install the window and siding. Unfortunately, the window they were informed would be at the lumber yard was not available for pick up, reason was not clear. We were all disappointed as we wanted the window and they wanted to work. So, the installation was rescheduled for the following Thursday. Unfortunately, the first crew was now assigned to another big project so Buck, his office manager
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
and the project manager

showed up to install the window. We were impressed that Buck and
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
would fill in to get the job done quicker rather than make us wait until the original crew was available again. This was important because we had also hired painters to paint the exterior of the house at about the same time and the window needed to get done first. So, the window project was estimated to take about three to four hours. Unfortunately, there was a unexpected problem. When the siding under the existing window was removed, carpenter ants were seen. In fact, there was a very large nest happily living in and eating the wood under the window. At this point, Buck could have said, "I'm not an exterminator, you need to get someone else in here to deal with this", but he did not. Instead he got out the shop vac and started sucking out thousands of ants while I ran to the garden center to find anything that would

carpenter ants. The entire wall under the window now needed to be removed and rebuilt. After vacuming, spraying and bleaching what remained of the wall after removal of the rotted wood and ants, they were finally able to proceed with building the new wall and window frame. Buck was very careful to be sure all the ants were gone before removing the old window so we wouldn't have ants coming into the house, which we appreciated very much! And, as if ants weren't enough of a challange, the weather was threatening a thunderstorm which luckily moved south of us but didn't save us from constant drisel. After about eight hours or so, we now have a beautiful new window and siding that looks great with the rest of the house. We were very impressed with Buck's customer service and ability to work well in challenging conditions. We would definately hire
North Dartmouth Siding Contractors Provider Name Locked
again, hopefully without the ants! (or rain). The labor and materials to repair the rotten boards and remove the ants cost us an additional $570.00 but we felt it was worth it. We have recently had a pest control expert out to treat our entire house for carpenter ants to deal with the ones that escaped the vacuum. And, just to clarify, Buck is NOT an exterminator so please don't call him about ants, but he would be happy to talk to you about windows and/or siding!
