There was a lot of miscommunication regarding initial scheduling after purchasing a Big Deal for up to 50' of gutters replaced for $229. Several times, I e-mailed the company at the e-mail address on its website and explained IN DETAIL the problems that I had and the EXACT AREAS where they occurred, with no response. Eventually, I did get an e-mail FROM the company, asking me to call. When I immediately did so and related that I had repeatedly e-mailed, I was told that it was an incorrect address. We engaged in a lengthy discussion in which I argued that, regardless of my Big Deal being for gutter replacement, the fact remained that I had paid $229 for WORK and that it only made sense to apply it to what actually needed to be done and that, if he refused to do so, I would just cancel the Deal and get a refund. This then resulted in MUCH haggling, after which he finally agreed to to the repair work plus he charged an additional $40 for the 8' of gutter replacement. I am reasonably sure that the material that was needed for the repair costs less than (or, certainly, no more than) the cost of actual gutters and, even with the 8' of gutter replacement, the total area was ~40' - and the Big Deal was for up to 50'. He did return on a subsequent day to do the work (when I was at my job). I saw that the new gutter was installed, but the other work was not visible to me. (I also never received a bill for the $20 balance.) It did not rain for about a week, and one of the 2 problem areas was fine - but the other area was EXACTLY THE SAME, with water still pouring down in the gap between the roof
While the end result was satisfactory, the process was not - and I would have misgivings about using this company again.
Having to haul the heavy leaves out isn't easy, but the $99 price tag justified the extra effort on my part.
The first person was supposed to clean my gutters but said he couldn't do the job b/c we had gutter guards and it would take too much time. Okay. I can understand that, but really? Why wasn't I asked if we had guards on our gutters when I set up the appointment? If it matters that much for scheduling purposes, they should ask these questions upfront.
The second person who came out was to provide an estimate. I got a call a day or two later but I didn't receive an estimate - only a "we will call you back" kind of call (which I've received a few of already).
Just really strange.
I realize they could be very busy now b/c it's fall; but, please let your potential customers know why there are delays and when we can expect service. I now have to start my research over again to find someone locally to do the work.
