"This was an out-patient surgery. It was very successful. I only needed ibuprofin to manage post-op pain for a few days. I began physical therapy almost immediately." I have full range of motion back in my shoulder - I have recommended Dr. to friends and family. He's an excellent surgeon!

"I needed a new knee replacement and revision of a bad one from 8 years ago.. He was the only doctor we saw that was willing to try to fix the bad one. He did them" both at the same time at Hospital. I have been very impressed with Dr. , his staff, the hospital and my rehab. He and his staff have great communication with each other and the patient. They actually do what they say they will, when they say they will do it! Quite a difference from the other arrogant surgeon I had for the first, bad replacement. The care at was outstanding, clean, efficient and everyone not only did their job, but asked others if they needed help! Again what a difference from Good Samaritan expeirence. Nice to finally have a surgeon that listens to his patient. I have had great results! I highly recommend him to anyone needing knee replacement.

Sounds like you should be pursuing a disability claim.  Also, you could speak to your previous doctor frankly about your concerns.
Have they made orthotics for your shoes that distribute your weight better?

Hi,

This is James W. with Member Care. Thanks for posting your question.

It looks like when you signed up online on 8/5/2014, that you accidentally joined our greater Portland chapter instead of our Salem/Corvallis chapter that your zip code falls under. I have transferred your subscription to that chapter, so you will now have access to the correct area.

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if I can assist further. You can respond to this thread or submit a new Answers post. You can also reach us at 1-866-783-2980. We're open weekdays from 8:00 am - 9:00 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm ET.

Thanks again!

I found out after the surgery; he lied to me and never administered the antibiotics he stated he would and never even called the Specialists at the hospital .. He caused an infection in the stitching. He allows his receptionists to do close ups when he's rushed. This she bragged to me. He also stated he could do a complete ACL in 18 minutes. All ...More this I discovered afterwards ; when the stitching became infected... This soft spoken doctor became furious when the hospital called and asked if he would remove the self dissolving stitches as they were infected and very sloppy with pieces of my dermis tied over my epidermis. It looked like a big zigzag with lumps. ........only pus and bleeding for months due to the infection. My PT even called him and spoke with his concern about it . I went down to his office to get my stitches cleaned out and he seemed quite mad at me for having a problem with his superior method of surgery. He stated it would be too painful and it needed to be done under anesthesia. While under he removed my bone screw that was holding my ACL. I did not ask or complain of this . When I asked why he did it he said it was healed????? It had only been 3-4 months since installing it. A few months later my ACL snapped with a loud pop and tremendous pain. I was just walking on my sidewalk. I called him and wanted to have him see it.... He refused to see me. I am in horrific pain each day..
I would encourage anyone to avoid this surgeon. I also found out afterwards his fellowship was awarded in Australia where their medical degrees are much easier to obtain and no one in the states does his type of ACL.
Also no one wants another doctor's mess up.
He advertises heavily...Clue ..none of the good docs need to.

Everything went very well. I had a right total knee replacement on 6/29/15 and have had an excellent result. I have been pain free for the past 3-4 weeks, and can do things I have been unable to do for the past two to three years. I would recommend Dr. to anyone who needs orthopedic surgery. He is an excellent surgeon, very ...More professional, and very easy to talk to. This entire experience has changed my life.

I did my homework before deciding on a surgeon. I wanted a surgeon who was the best "technician" In this area. I talked to people. His name came up a lot. These are very tough surgeries to endure. So is the rehab. Dr. told me if I did everything he told me to....my outcome would be great. It was challenging , but ...More I did. Everything is great. I couldn't ask for better outcomes! He may not be warm and fuzzy but I liked him very much. He is all business but with a sense of humor and cares about providing his patients with the very best care.

I chose Dr. for my knee replacement surgery after talking to several physicians and each one recommended Dr. as their first choice because of his experience and expertise. Dr. performs over 700 knee and hip replacements each year and he and his staff have the process down to a ...More science. Dr. spent all of the time I needed patiently answering my questions before and after the surgery. His office staff and nurses are all friendly and efficient in responding to your needs, especially , and . The typical hospital stay is two nights and then you are sent home. Home rehab lasts for about two weeks then you are transferred to outpatient physical therapy. It is necessary to have someone with you 24/7 for the first week after surgery as you are not very mobile. Although a difficult surgery my knees have healed well and the arthritis pain I used to have is in the past. The secret is to do everything you are told in physical therapy. The most difficult part of the rehab process for me was difficulty sleeping. It is hard to get comfortable in bed and it seems as though the pain gets more intense at night. After 5-8 weeks it is no longer an issue. My right knee feels near normal after a year and the left knee after 3 1/2 months has a ways to go. I can do any activity after the surgery that did before including golf. I highly recommend Dr. if you are considering joint replacement surgery. Be aware that he is booked about three months in advance.

I wasn't interested with him either. When I went to him, I was under the impression that he would do the knee replacement. After he had me do everything that I did like the MRI, then he told me he didn't do this. The office people were great. They were always there. I didn't have to wait very long to see him. He didn't do anything for me.

Dr was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. I had gone to my GP complaining of back and leg pain. He referred me to Dr due to an MRI I had. Despite the fact that I should have been referred to my original surgeon Dr helped me. I was suffering from back pain sciatica and leg pain. I ...More first met Dr over 20 years ago when he operated on my 13 year old sons hip. He saved my son from having to have an artificial hip. I thought of him when I developed two cases of frozen shoulder over the past 2 years. During the second case of frozen shoulder he helped me with a ruptured disc in my back by sending me for an MRI and also referred me to a surgeon I highly recommend Dr

After evaluating a couple of doctors, I decided on Dr. because he had performed so many procedures and was overly confident in his ability to do a perfect procedure, even speaking of his surgery on his mother. Being in my 40's, this was important to me, knowing I would need surgery again and being active. Afterwards, I ...More was stunned to find that he mis-measured the cut and my leg was just under an inch longer than my other leg. Much to my dismay, he tried to tell my at my first follow-up that it was because of muscle loss. After PT and other consultations, he admitted his mistake and suggested shoe lifts for my other shoe, or possible other follow-up surgery. I am not sure how a practiced surgeon could make such a grievous mistake but now I am paying for it until some day in the future where I will have it redone, since having a perfectly good leg operated on doesn't make a lot of sense. I constantly limp, stand to the side and live with the pain. While anyone can make a mistake, as my husband is a carpenter, I also think that "measure twice, cut once" would have been the thought of the day instead of trying to see how fast a surgery can get done.
