First of, we were very happy with Kitchenworks. We decided to go with an IKEA kitchen after Lowes gave us an outrageous quote for a kitchen remodel. While I'm okay with assembling cabinets, I'm honestly not one for the finer details, so we decided to hire someone with two aspects of the process: Planning the kitchen redesign, and installing the kitchen.
First step was to plan the kitchen. We already had a pretty firm idea of what we wanted, so this basically just came down to us showing
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
from Kitchenworks what we want, and him making correction and suggestions. This was a pretty quick and easy process, and after that we handed our design over to Kitchenworks to complete the details. They added all the necessary cover panels and splints that I would have never thought of, and the outcome of this was a detailed shopping list, with which we went to IKEA and placed our order.
After the cabinets came in, we assembled the cabinet boxes (Kitchenworks would have done that as well, but were very accommodating to let us do it and save some money in the process).
The final and most nerve wracking step for me then was for the workers to come in and to actually install the kitchen. I was very worried about this, because honestly I'm very wary when it comes to handymen. Trust issues I guess :) I usually do everything myself, but sometimes you just have to hand the reigns to someone else....
Anyway, I couldn't be more happy with the guys. They far exceeded my expectation in all aspects. Not only did they do excellent and flawless work, but they were extremely quick about. The whole kitchen was installed in two days! It would have taken me at least a week or more by myself, and the outcome would not have been that good :)
They also took their time to stop and ask me how I want certain things done, and showed me certain steps along the process that were important to know.
So, overall, I'm very pleased. Kitchenworks was very accommodating when it came to our special requests, and the quality of the work was excellent. I can honestly say that this was the first time I'm not regretting spending money on getting outside help.

did some small projects and one big one - a rebuild of a very large shed that was in disrepair. He did a great job jacking the shed up, replacing the entire floor, sill, floor joists, etc. and then re-shingling the outside. It took longer than we'd hoped but he had given me fair warning that it might. In the end we were very pleased with the result.
Overall I was pleased with the outcome and with

' craftsmanship.
Perhaps most importantly,
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was reliable, trustworthy and a good communicator - he showed up when he said he would, and worked nonstop all day (important since I was paying an hourly rate).

The project started out great. The two subcontractors
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
(carpenter to fix rot) and
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
(siding) showed up at 7:30 am most days. One week when it rained, the owner (
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
) sent them over on a Saturday to keep them working.
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was great at communicating when he found problems and they came when he said they were going to. They got the siding stripped within a week. They found and fixed rot in the sill between the first and second floors (although they cut through the ceiling by mistake). They had an electrician replace the electric box which was set up incorrectly by the original builders and also ground the wire to the water pipe. The garage was resided and the garage side door replaced. But the project went south after about six weeks. The subcontractors just stopped coming. The problem seems to be related to the new windows.
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he ordered the windows as soon as we gave him our initial check in March. After about six weeks, he told us they were in. But it is over 3 months later and we have yet to see them.
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has done the new siding as much as he could without the new windows, which is only up to the bottom of the lowest existing windows. He finished only one wall of the house (out of 6) which has no windows. One time
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
came and said
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was supposed to meet them here with the new windows. He never came. A few other times
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
said he would bring over the windows but never showed. In addition to the siding needed, there's still rot to fix, a door to replace, outside stairs to build,
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
pipe to install, but both
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
haven't come in months. During this time
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
told us his truck engine blew, his son (partner in business) was having surgery, he himself went into the hospital for 10 days, and his mother was in the hospital. But these things all happened weeks/months after they stopped coming, and they also have no bearing on our project since neither
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
nor his son are actually doing the work. The truck problem could be why we have no windows, but that was 3 months ago. He couldn't hire someone to bring the windows over?
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
has promised us 6 or 7 times that work would be done the following week, only to have nobody come. After
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's last broken promise, he hasn't returned our calls in over a week. His contract called for 80% paid by the start of the project, which we now regret. In hindsight, we think (and this is pure speculation) that
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
never ordered the windows in the first place and he used the money for something else (hospital bills?). Since
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
and
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
can't do much without the windows, they have taken on other jobs and are unavailable. Note that one window was installed (not framed), but it was a standard size that could have been bought at any Lowes. So now our house has been stripped down and exposed to the elements for over 3 months. We have equipment all over the back yard and our grass has big dead patches. At this rate, we're worried that our house will be like this when winter hits and it starts to snow. We also need the
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
pipe installed before the cold weather. This is a project that should have taken 4 - 6 weeks total and it has been almost 4 months.

They are a little higher in price but well worth it. They call back when you call them and come out when they say they are going to be out. They come out, get the job done, and while they are doing the work, the manager will come by and check. The owner will come out when the job is finished to make sure you are happy with the work. They get all the permits you need.

I originally approached
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to repair some rotted wood on my home and as we walked around the house
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
pointed out additional areas of water damage. He had a carpenter remove and replace the wood in the rotted areas. Detail work was good.

Best overall experience with a contractor I've had in 31 years of home ownership. I used them again to paint the entire house. I am grateful to angie's list for finding them for me, after years of searching for a contractor who could do siding for a

style home.

After a flood damaged carpet on our upstairs and stairway, the carpet was removed and revealed that the stairs, from top to bottom, were too damaged from nails and staples after having been carpeted extensively with all wood surfaces covered by previous home owner. We decided to tear down and remove old stairs and
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was referred to us by a flooring company.
After helping us to decide on the look of the new stairs including different newel posts, balusters, and handrails,
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
began demolition of the old stairs and the process of building the new stairs. After each full day
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
would spend time cleaning up and hiding all his tools and materials because he didn't like leaving a mess, that was the first thing that impressed us; his strong work ethic.
As the new stairs began to take shape it was immediately apparent that
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
is a very skilled carpenter with ample experience to create a custom stair case that fit our home beautifully. Each day was exciting just to see the new pieces he had crafted and installed. The project took twice as long as expected to the wrong balusters being shipped. Upon arrival of the replacement balusters,
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
worked Saturdays and Sundays to get the job done as quickly as possible.
A testament to
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's honesty as a craftsman was found in moments when he would point out something he didn't like about a piece he had installed and he intended to replace or rework till it met his high standards. If he hadn't pointed out the "flaws" that his trained eye noticed, I would never have noticed and I consider myself a perfectionist.
Upon completion of the stairs we decided to hire
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
to also paint and polyurethane the new stairs as well as the surrounding upstairs hallway and downstairs landing. Most craftsman seem to excel at one discipline but to my amazement
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
was as gifted at painting as he was at carpentry. With an amazingly steady hand I watched him paint without using painter's tape or any type of masking device and the results were superior to that of a painter we hired two years earlier for a room remodel.
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
's forte in carpentry is visible everyday in our new staircase that gets high praise from all who have seen it. We have hired
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
for other projects and referred him to family and friends who have also had very positive things to say about him and his work.

The construction of my two rails proceeded quickly, once
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
began the project, and it was completed within a week. I am very pleased with his ability to size up the situation, design an attractive project, and build it so sturdily.

Our back porch collapsed in one corner from water damage. The corner was sagging. We didn't know what the issue was, termites, water, etc. No termites thank G-d.
Nick is actually a neighbor and we knew he was in the business so he came over and put a support column under the porch so we'd be safe for now. He figured out what was needed and gave us an estimate and approximate time that it would take to finish.
All of the rotted wood was removed and replaced. The support columns which weren't up to code by today's standards (they were when the house was built) were replaced with code materials. Cedar shingles were replaced.
All was done as promised except the final bill was a bit higher than the estimate due to some issues that came up as the work went along.
We were happy with Nick's work. He was always courteous and prompt.

Like everyone else, I want the job done right and for a fair price. But in addition to that, I want a polite and professional staff to deal with who arrive when they say they are going to arrive (or at least call to give me a heads up if they are going to be late) and clear up after themselves each time they work at the house.
Framingham General Contractors Provider Name Locked
must have an "etiquette" class that they give their employees because in all my 22 years of being a home owner, I have never worked with a more polite and respectful group of workmen (and office staff). Any questions or issues I had were answered promptly and professionally. These guys would make Ms
