"I was quite excited about selecting
Pools as I had met with a number of pool companies and felt this company was the most professional. "
F is appears professional and he is a good salesman. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. He is not a good listener and is more focused (after the signatures are dried on the contract) with justifying his lack of clear communication than with providing the consumer with what they asked. Both the rock painter and
Reed are excellent.
was responsible for startup and lighting, he was communicative, efficient and a man of his word. The quality of the work was done well - so far. My biggest complaint is that the project manager and pretty much everyone else within the company is non-responsive when issues arise. The color of my pool is NOT what I expected it to be. I went in to select the products and
F had the photos of my existing pool which was a dark bottom and looks like a lagoon. I told him that I wanted the same look. He encouraged and recommended a more monochromatic look - I asked him if he was sure that wasn't too light and he said "no" just one shade lighter and a little more on the green side. Well, lets just say that it was not "one shade lighter" but significantly lighter and not at all what I wanted. He showed me no pictures of the color of the water and in hindsight, I should have asked rather than trust his professional opinion since it was very clear he didn't know what he was talking about. You can imagine my disappointment after spending $20,000 and finding a pool that looks nothing like what I anticipated.
F's response was "you signed the paperwork." And he is correct, I did sign the paperwork and was told the end result was going to be one thing and it ended up being something else. I suppose I should be thankful he even responded, the rest of the company did not respond AT ALL. I called, I emailed to be able to talk with someone so I could discuss the issue and come up with some resolution but NO ONE with any decision-making ability would respond. The disappointment was so great with my pool I was willing to share the cost to have it done the correct way but NO ONE contacted me. For me, as a consumer, I can only say the experience left a bitter taste and that I do NOT recommend this pool company for sheer service issues. The quality of the pool work is ok. They were quick and efficient although they did break some landscape lighting which they did not repair and left a small mess. I do not believe asking to discuss the disappointment is asking too much and their non-responsiveness is not acceptable for a company that is listed on Angie's list. I have hesitated in putting this review up on Angie's list primarily because I was hopeful that someone would eventually respond. January 10, 2015, I have heard nothing. RECENT COMMUNICATION THIS WEEK (February 26) - Six months after the completion of the pool I finally am getting an invoice for the last payment on the addition of lights. When I brought the issue up again because I am still so disappointed - they are changing their story saying that the owner had offered to redo the pool at their costs and I rejected the offer - which is completely UNTRUE. Regretfully, I could not and would not recommend this company to anyone.

has just finished our project and we could not be happier with our experience working with him and the results. So much so that we have him" estimating other project that we would like to do in the near future. He finished on schedule as promised. We would highly recommend

Drywall and plaster

Knowing how your interior walls are constructed and what they are made of can help you take better care of your home, as well as provide effective maintenance. You can make small repairs yourself, but the more extensive the job the more likely you'll need a drywall repair contractor to make the wall smooth again.

My sister-in-law uses brite white toothpaste and rubs it into those small holes. No prep, no sanding.
?

I've used wall liner (it applies like wallpaper only thicker) to cover a multitude of "wall sins" over the years. In my opinion it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. It doesn't look cheap or tacky, it's inexpensive, non-labor intensive and not messy to install.

I used it for the first time about 15 years ago to cover a faux brick tile on my lower kitchen walls that couldn't be removed. It was either tear the wall down or take a chance on $40 worth of wall liner. It did the job beautifully and lasted. Since then I've used it to cover paneling, a badly gouged wall after a kitchen remodel and a wall that looked like a pegboard after floor to ceiling shelving was removed.

Friends and family (and realtors!) have been amazed by the transformation after applying this simple inexpensive product.

?

Remember, you not only have to remove the popcorn texture, but also redo the ceiling in some other texture.

Price will depend on several factors:

1) how much the contractor you choose hates removing popcorn or textured ceilings - some charge $1 or so/SF extra just because they hate it. There are even some who bid total drywall replacement cheaper than removing the popcorn, so you have to first find contractors who are happy to do that work, or your prices will be out of the realistic range

2) if the popcorn predates about 1990, then it could likely have asbestos in it, which doubles or triples the price, and in many cases uncapsulating it with a spray coating and then removing the drywall entirely is actually cheaper than all the protective measures necessary if it is scraped off.

3) whether the popcorn is primarily gypsum and vermiculite (comes off REAL easy) or was the plaster of paris variety, which takes a fair amount of soaking to soften it enough to scrape off

4) what type of finish you are replacing it with - if a textured ceiling, slapcoat, knockdown finish or paneling, not real problem. If you want to go with a perfectly smooth ceiling (generally a bad idea as any variations in the drywall on a ceiling surface really shows up dramatically), then it will demand a lot of care in preparing the scraped surface, and a complete surface drywall compound skim coat to smooth out the scrapes and gouges from the removal process.

5) what underlying conditions are - if there is a lot of furniture to move around (should go to adjacent rooms) or cover and work around, high-quality rug or hardwood floor to super-protect or such, will drive cost up.

I have seen costs run from as low as $0.60/SF to $1.25/SF (for removal only). Generally, remove and recoat with a surface texture of some kind (anything but smooth) and paint will run you about $2.50-3.50/SF.

Now the bad news - if asbestos containing, can run from $5-10/SF. Many homeowners in that situation go the other legal route - have it encapsulated with an asbestos-rated sealant by an asbestos contractor, then paint it and leave it for the next homeowner to decide what to do about it. Some contractors encapsulate it and then put a 1/4" thick drywall layer over it - this usually looks like a disaster unless it has a VERY rough textured finish on it, because putting drywall sheet over a rough surface like popcorn invariably means a wavy surface commonly looks like a gently rolling ocean surface.

It has taken over 3 weeks to even get appointment scheduled and I called him the day after I bought it. When appointment came up they didn't show up and I had taken off work to be home when they came.

They spilled paint on my floor and tile which almost made it's way to my carpet and ruined it. Thankfully the paint hasn't stained the floor too badly there is just a lighter spot where they spilled it. They were supposed to paint a two-story foyer and some spackling in my sun-room, which I told them ahead of time. and they didn't even bring their own ladder, luckily I had one they could use. They never finished the spackling I needed done, but I understood because it had to dry, and they explained it me so I could get it done when they left. They were very nice people but they didn't seem very professional with the work I wanted done. They did an ok job. This wasn't the worst experience that I've had but it wasn't the best, it was just average.

Completed the job in 3 days. Took 1/2 day to remove and haul away old plaster and tile. Took a full day to

new ceramic tile and trim tiles, new fittings, and deck-o-seal, and another day to replaster. Started filling the pool on the 4th day. Did start-up of pool chemicals. Our pool is beautifully restored. They were very careful to not leave a mess in our landscaped garden. We are very happy. We highly recommend

He showed up the first day on time. Nice guy. Seemed to have the proper materials and got busy with his work. When he quoted the job he said it would take a day and a half. We felt the price was fair if he was going to spend 12 hours on the job. The job took him 3 hours one day and 3 hours the next day. That made his quote way over priced for us. He was supposed to call the next day to let us know if he could come back and finish but he showed up unexpectedly and started sanding his work while we were running around the house trying to cover our furniture. In the end he left us with a mess. There was fine white dust everywhere. It took my husband and I longer to clean our floors and furniture and windows than the contractor spent doing the job. He came with cloths for our oak floors but failed to cover them completely and bits of spackling and paint ended up on the floors plus all the sandy grit. He began to realize that he needed to protect our heart of pine windows that are not painted but failed to keep them safe. We know that all the paint and spackle we found on the windows and floors came from him as this house has not been painted since the carpet was pulled up and the floors refinished. He did not have adequate tools to clean up after himself. He used old leftover ceiling paint, as he told us, to put the texture in and texture areas that were sanded down. He left with his full payment in hand before we could inspect and see the work as it was all wet. Once it dried out the texture he applied was 3 to 4 times more than what was originally on the walls and ceiling. We had a fine texture as this is an old house. He applied a thick and rough coat. Something we will have to live with as on his quote it says "texture as well as possible." We have discovered places that he did not retexture and cracks that were supposed to be repaired were just slapped on with textured paint and the cracks are still there. Supposedly he's been in this business for several decades but someone has to be at the bottom of the skill set and he meets that criteria. We were getting ready to have the interior of the house painted. DW painting, which we used for the exterior of our home, recommended this person to get the walls prepped for them to paint. His work was so awful and the clean up was so exhausting that we lost hope in having another contractor come into our home. We cancelled DW painting as they didn't seem concerned about the quality of Jos's work. That was disturbing. We area now in the process of painting our home and since we have painted many homes in the past, although not our profession, we feel confident and the work is looking good. As we paint we keep coming across more and more of the contractor's messy work. At least now we are taking care of our floors and woodwork that we concerned would not be taken care of by an outside contractor.

Well.... We asked that all of the nail

, scratches, etc be filled, sanded. The previous home owner had a large opening in one wall with a shelf to store the old style tv. That was to be dry-walled to hang a tv mount and on the other side of the wall, in the closet, a hole cut for access to cables (They forgot the access). We discussed at length about our color choice and how it would read over the darker existing color, whether or not primer should be used, how the color might be affected by the light in the room, etc. It did take me some time to decide on color, and they were very accommodating. There was some issues with scheduling but it was worked out after several phone calls. They started to paint and when a section of a wall was done, I went to check on the color. It looked nothing like the sample and saying I did not like it was an understatement. They said to let them finish one coat around the room and I would change my mind.... That didn't happen. Back to the drawing board of picking another color.
Dennis Plastering Contractors Provider Name Locked
also convinced me not to use color on my ceiling and to use a shade of white. I can't stand white ceiling's, but they said if I didn't like it, they would change it. I chose a white that isn't really white for the ceiling. Months later and I still am unsure. As for the walls, I ended up using the color that

painted my closets. Everyone thought I was nuts because it seemed so bright, almost overwhelming in the closet, but I really love it. We have bubbles in the paint, and where they used caulk or something in a drywall seam, it is rather ugly and VERY noticeable. Where I had put a sample color was never taken care of properly, the wall is very bumpy. The room was left with a

of drywall dust... There are touch ups galore, but after what seemed like forever to get this room painted in the first place, I will do the fixes myself. Oh... The paint isn't very good either, which surprised me as it is
