"Once I was numb, it was an easy removal of a back tooth. To no fault of Dr
, there was a jagged bone that came up through the gum where" the tooth had been. The day I called about acute pain, he fit me in to see what was causing the problem. Dr
gave me a prescription and said it would take about two weeks before the bone broke off. However, the prescription did not help one bit. My mouth was on fire with pain, so I came to his office and he did an emergency oral surgery to shave down the bone. Since then, I have had no problem.

"He is very good. I have gone to him for a couple of years and he has done a handful of things for me. I have had a tooth pulled and I did not feel a thing. I
" ’t have any problems getting an appointment. His office is comfortable. His employees are nice and pleasant. I did have to pay him up front and I used my care card, but his prices are reasonable and fair.

If your dentist has recommended that you have any type of cosmetic or oral surgery, an oral surgeon will likely perform it. Learn how oral surgery can help improve your smile and enhance your dental health.

I am familiar witht he ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers across the country, in particluar, the one in Overland Park, KS.  They are a "one stop" implant center.  The doctors there are at the top of their field, and an advantage is that you have all of the specialists that will be working with you in the same place.  That would have to make communication easier between doctors.  They usually offer seminars for patients and I think, offer free consultations, which is always worthwhile.

If you chose to go the other way, some Prosthodontists will place and restore the implants themselves. In other cases, an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will place the implant and a Prosthodontist or General Dentist restores it.   Fees can vary quite a bit from office to office and with the different options for restorative materials.  Some offer free consultations, for others, they charge a fee that might be applied to any future treatment in some cases.

The first step is to schedule a few consultations with different providers, which it sounds like you've already done.

The most important factors when deciding which practitioner to work with:
:
.1.  You should feel comfortable asking your doctor any questions so that you have a good understanding of the procedure itself, healing time and long-terem outcome, and possible complications.  Write down a list of questions and take them with you to the consultation.

2.  Ask about the experience of the practitioner. How many similiar procedures have they completed?  Have they had any major complications with any cases?  Ask to see photos if possible.

3..Figure out if it works out better for your schedule, to go to a "one stop" provider or to separate providers for the placement and the restoration of the implants.

4. Follow your instincts.  If you feel rushed, didn't get direct answers to your questions, didn't communicate well or had any other negative feelings, this probably isn't the doctor for you.

5. Consider insurance coverage and financing options.  If your dental plan covers implants and it is important to you to use a preferred provider, you will want to check your list.  Many times, insurance does not cover implants, or at least not all of the steps.  You may want to inquire about payment and financing options.

I hope this at least helps you feel a little less confused and a little more directed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.
Sincerely,

As a  Dentist, I am sorry to hear about your denture nightmare and I know how frustrating that can be.  I am surprised that your doctor wasn't willing to work with you on some type of solution.  A few options would be either remaking the dentures once more,  or offering to return some of the money and have you return the dentures.   Unfortunately, the doctor has put in a lot of their time and lab expenses, but the patient also  has time and money invested.  You might try sending a letter re-explaining the problems you hand and offering an acceptible and fair solution.  Be sure to keep a copy of it and any correspondence you receive from the Dental Office.  In the event that you don't get anywhere, you have documentation of the problem.

At any point in the process, did they have you sign something saying you were happy with the denture set up?  Some practitioners will document the patient's acceptance at the try-in appointment, before the denture is processed.  At that time, changes in tooth arrangement, size and color can be made with minimal lab expense.

If the letter doesn't get you anywhere, you might try going to the governing body of the dental profession in your area.  I am a dentist in Blue Springs, Missouri, USA.  Here, we have the Missouri Dental Board  (or the Dental Division of the Missouri Department of Professional Registration.)  This is the entity that licenses us to perform our professional duties in our state.  They often have a process to file complaints against a provider if you were unable to resolve the problem yourself.   After your complaint is received, they will contact the doctor to get their side of the story, then try to mediate a solution between the two parties.

As far as a new set of dentures, you might seek out the services of a Prosthodontist (specializes in dentures and removable appliances - extra training and certification beyond general dentistry) or go to a local dental school.  The students are supervised and checked off at each step by professionals.  Most dental schools also treat patients through their faculty practices, and you can often get the services of a specialist at a lower price.

I hope this information is helpful to your situation, and I wish you well.

I have used Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
for 4-5 years now. He has actually completely restored my smile. It's because of him that I can smile today without gaps and yellow teeth showing. Today he removed a tooth. The procedure was not painful at all. The doctor frequently makes sure that you are not in pain and if you need a break, he gives you a break. I have always been able to tell that he and his staff are attuned to my needs as a patient.
I can tell you the reason I chose him years ago to restore my teeth. After talking to a few Dentists, and having bad past experiences with some, he made me feel comfortable. And he communicates with you! He wrote a plan sitting next to me and told me how hew was going to address each problem tooth I had. As things turned out, I needed several root canals and lots of fillings. i have had all that work done at his office. Some dentists send out root canals and other procedures to Endodontists etc.. Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
is qualified and does those procedures all at his office. This eliminates finding a problem, getting a referral, calling a strange doctors office. Then you sit on their waiting list for a initial exam, and 6 weeks after the problem was found something gets done. He once did a emergency root canal within 24 hours of seeing it was needed for me.
I actually have a check up appointment tomorrow at his office. I am sure I can expect the same quality service and dental work when I go. I am grateful he and his staff have restored my smile.

Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
was recommended to me by my primary dentist. I was able to book an appointment right away. So far I have had three teeth extracted and one implant post. I am a very nervous person when it comes to dental work. Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
and her staff were very easy, upbeat and took their time with me. I had local novocaine, the extractions were necessary, as unpleasant as it is, Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
made the experience less traumatic, I really felt more relaxed in her office than in any other dental facility. I will continue to use her as my Oral Surgeon as necessary and will recommend her highly to others who are fearful of dental procedures.

Procedure went fine. Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
made a follow up call and seemed irritated that I had asked him to call my husband instead bc he was the one attending to her at home. He said Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
was very brief and practically cut him off when he was explaining her condition. She was very careful about her post surgery instructions so she healed very well. The worst part of this experience was not the ability of the doctor or any problems that my daughter had. It was the fact that we were quoted $412 using our Delta Dental insurance at the time of her consultation. Based on that we scheduled her surgery and my husband paid that amount in full the morning of her procedure. We were floored to receive a bill for nearly $450 a couple months after her last appointment. The office manager admitted that she made a mistake in looking up our insurance coverage and that she "misread the screen"! I explained that wasn't our fault and had she quoted me nearly $900 at the time of the consultation, we would have gone somewhere else! She insisted that we pay that balance and threatened that we would be turned over to collection agency if we didn't. This was completely HER mistake!!! Even our family dentist who referred us there made a call to resolve the matter and they didn't even compromise with a reduced amount. I received a payment book for 5 months of payments and felt sick every time I wrote that check. The office manager is so rude, I still can't believe they made us pay more than the original amount quoted and paid in full! Our dentist no longer refers people to this office....you need to consider the way they run this practice!!! Horrible!

I have gone to probably 15 dentists because I’ve had bad experiences and this is the only one I would ever recommend. I’ve had a bridge done, which means major tooth surgeries on at least 4 teeth and it’s really painful and he even called me on Sunday to see how I was doing. His staff is incredible. His nurse actually made my doctor’s appointment for me. When I'm confused about billing, they take me in and explains everything. When you go in there, they put your hands in hot wax and give you a hand massage so that you are calm.

Three of the 4 failed, necessitating replacement. She replaced them at what we thought was to be a routine recheck appt. As this is minor surgery, she really should have consulted the chart before doing so, so that he would have had the 5 days notice to go off the blood thinners he is on. He bled like a son of a gun, which she complained about. He had to stop by the side of the road twice on the way home to cough up the blood that was choking him as he was driving. He did not stop bleeding for 6 hours. Dr.
West Monroe Oral Surgeons Provider Name Locked
was unreachable, and of course did not even bother to check how he was doing. She cut corners at our expense, and now he needs $5000+ more work just to get a permanent denture. She was very friendly and seemingly knowledgeable at the outset, but they really did do a high pressure sales job. Be very careful and get 1-2 second opinions!!
