"Review and ratings will be updated pending resolution. The Good 1. No-pressure sales pitch. Came in much higher than the Angie's List deal based on square" footage, but even so the price was still lowest of our three estimates and the sales manager was professional, patient, and punctual. 2. Pre-work coordination. Financing and scheduling an install date was a no-hassle affair. 3. Cleanup. They did a reasonable job and only snapped a branch off one shrub, especially considering it was dark when they were finishing up. The Not-So-Good 1. Install into the darkness. Scheduled install day was slipped due to equipment problems. We agreed to a Saturday install and crew started working ~ 08:30-9:00. Unfortunately, they were still on the roof well after dark, and ran out of material. Not to mention installing shingle in the dark is not something I would recommend nor expect for a quality install. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Unfortunately, the thing they were doing in the dark was the ridge vent, which is still not sealed on the endcap. Hopefully the ridge gap was properly spec'd and the ridge vent install done with care, as that can be a leak-probe feature if not done well. The next day, Sunday, they returned in the early afternoon with material, but forgot caulking/sealant to finish off two sections of ridge vent. They said they would return later on Sunday. They never did. Install remains incomplete. 2. No call back on Monday. We called twice and left messages Monday with the production supervisor regarding the last piece to finish. No call back received. 3. No Supervisor Presence at Job Site on first Install Day (Saturday). When the crew arrived, they went straight to work. That is--straight onto the roof. However, no one came to the door to introduce themselves or the crew, nor did any of the gentlemen show they were in charge of the crew. In fact, the only interaction we had, even after I went outside multiple times, was one of the crew asking to use the bathroom, twice. Not a problem--he was a polite young man who spoke clear English, but the point is that was the only interaction until the end of the day when they said they needed to return. He seemed to be the youngest of the crew and should be commended. However, it would be much more professional to at least have a crew foreman introduce himself, if nothing else as a point of contact for any issues but also to lend some workmanship oversight. It is tough to oversee a roof install as a homeowner unless you choose to be on the roof most of the day. Time will tell on the quality of the install once we have some rain and wind, and I'll be happy to update either way. Considering showery weather coming Thursday, hopefully the work will be inspected and any remaining sealing will be completed.

"It went really well. I had previously had two wildly different assessments of the condition of our roof. Having a maintenance company rather than a roofer do the" assessment was a great idea. He gave a similar assessment of the life left on the roof to one of our previous inspections. This confirmed that we have some years left on the roof and saved us having to get a new roof this year. Worth every penny! Now we have resources to focus on other needed repairs on the house. We paid extra because we have a steep roof pitch. I felt this was fair and was clearly stated ahead of time. Very professional. Honest. Didn't try to upsell us. What I expected from the reviews.

Angie's Answers

Wow, i aum surprised you didn't get 10 answers already with roofers say X was the best or N was the best or A was the best. In reality you are focusing on the WRONG THING!

5 estimates? Why 5? Why would you do that to yourself? Normally if you are dealing with reputable companies you don't need more than 2 estimates. I advocate to people to always get at least two estimates and if the roofers are saying something very different or if the roofers are way way way off in price, get an equalizer, get a 3rd.  Obviously if you don't trust a roofer disqualify that roofer immediately.  I beliee you have now fallen into "Analysis Paralysis" which is what happens when you have too many opions.

But back to the topic, I said you are focusing on the wrong thing. Why did I say that? Because you can take the best shingle in the world and if installed wrong is compeltely garbage. i can take the worst shingle, known to fail, and if installed properly will last some ammount of time. So you should focus on the roofer, not the product. The roofer is more important and a good quality roofer will only want to install good quality product.

The roof is a system comprised of many components, not just the shingles. You have the water proofing underlayment such as ice shield, the water resistant underlayments such as felt. You have the shingles, the ventilation and the flashing details. All of these things add up to equal one roof. Neglect one and your roof is doomed to fail.

But the roof is more than just product it is detail, know how and heart. Heart? yes heart. It takes the utmost CARING the utmost DESIRE to want to install a good roof. It's hard work and easy to fall into the train of thought as to do what's easier, instead of what's faster.  Faster and easier seldom ever equals better. At the end of the day you ened a roofer that cares about your roof.

So what product is best? That's hard to say. Each manufacturer has multiple plants and it seems each plant puts out varying levels of quality. I will tell you in my area Atlast is known as a cheap commodity shingle. I have Tamko Heritage on my house but I stopped using it because I was having seal failue issues and at the time they offered no contractor certification program, but I hear they started up one. Ownes corning is a decent product backed by a great company. I don't install very many OC's though. I primarily install CertainTeed Landmark shingles and my feeling is that they are the best on the market in my area. I'm sure others will disagree with me.

But don't miss the point, the roofer is more important than the shingle.
I appreciate the fact that with homeowners like you who want to beat the insurance co out of deductibles, so then my rates and every other homeowners rates can also go up just to save you.....Thanks for NOTHING..[8o|]

Any roofer worth using should be able to do the roof with NO MONEY DOWN.

The only scenario I would ask for a deposit is on a crazy odd ball shingle that had to be special ordered.

The question was, Can it be done? The answer is yes. The real question is "Should" it be done? The answer is, no, not unless it is an emergency.   But also let's clarify winter, because we are having a pretty mild winter, so there's kinda not a problem this year so far. I'll refrence "below freezing" from this point forward.

As a certified and licensed roofing contractor, my reputation is on the line. I debate this topic quite often with other roofing contractors who seem to care more about profit than a job well done.  Well, I can tell you from past experience having been a professional roofer for 14 years as of the time of this posting, that the chance for failure increases exponentionally when installed below freezing.  It's better just not to risk it.

Personally I will not, unless absolutely necessary and the customer signs a disclaimer of limited liability, install a roof below freezing and really really want to install the roof at 40 or above. The shingles need to seal, and will not seal unless they warm to about 70 degrees F ambient temprature. This does not mean it needs to be 70 outside, because the shingles will warm from the sun.

So what can be done to install the roof below freezing? Well first, the roof should not be gun nailed below freezing. This is because the shingles become brittle and it's easier to "blow through" with your nails. It's also harder to regulate air pressure when it is cold, I speculate because of barometric pressures, but I am just guessing.  Therefore the roof should be hand nailed. This takes more time. Furthermore since the seal strips will not seal, they must be manually sealed with proper compatible adhesives. This will also take more time, and more material. I once spoke with a roofer in Alaska who builds tents around the houses he is working on and covers them with tarps and heats with propane heaters.  Now that takes real time!    The question is, are you prepared to pay for this extra time? Can you wait a few more weeks?

It went pretty well. He spent what seemed like a sufficient amount of time evaluating the condition of the roof and gave me a good writeup. For context - the roof was in pretty good condition so there wasn't much to put together there. I had some shingles that were loose to be put back up, but the deal apparently didn't cover a proper repair. ...More He tacked it back up reasonably well, though I felt like it could've been a little straighter/neater. That's fairly subjective though, and given what he had to work with it was done well enough to sign off on.

They responded quickly when others weren't even returning phone calls. Lots of people were having similar issues to mine at time. They came quickly and even though insurance wasn't covering the cost, worked with me to keep my cost to a minimum.

. Right after I called the company I received an email and a phone call from the owner of the company Mr. and his son offering to help me with my project. provided estimate for the roof work. On a different date the company's carpenter came and looked ...More at the wood work and provided estimate for two alternative scenarios. The carpentry work was slightly pricey for me so I could not proceed with it. However, the shingle replacement part of it was very reasonable so I took their bid gladly.
Today, and his assistant came on time and did not waste a minute. They were extremely knowledgeable (they educated me a lot on the source of the problem, what it has caused, what they are going to do to fix it and what other things to watch out in the future and so on). They were very friendly, and efficient in their work. I am amazed at the level of their professionalism, discipline, and overall attitude and value for customer service. After they completed their work, they cleaned up everything and offered me to call them if I have any concern after they left. I am very much impressed by the degree of their professionalism, kind heartedness, service orientation, and precision in the way they do their job. Thank you and the . I can't wait to see you on another project.

The crew arrived when they said they would, worked through difficult weather conditions to get the job done quickly and well. They were extremely helpful to my 90 year old father when he was trying to negotiate the walk from the car to the house around the dumpster. They cleaned up after the job, and while a few pieces remain due to snow, they have ...More promised to come back and get the rest once the snow is gone. The roof was quite old and had lots of problems; that they were able to get the job done in two days is almost a miracle.
- Krista R.

A very nice young man named came at the specified time. He was friendly, professional, knowlegable and very helpful and was willing to address all of my questions and concerns. I had an email copy of the estimate/bid within an hour of when he left my house.
I have given all the information to the buyer and the ball is in ...More his court now. I have such a grest impression of this company that I know they will be uppermost in my mind if/when a need that they can address comes up regarding work or repairs for the house I will be living in from now on. Thank you to and and the rest of the company.
- Heidi C.

Quick response, and very good follow through. High quality workmanship. Provided good ideas and options. Prices were reasonable and crew was very professional.
- Marsha C.

Honestly, things went better than we ever expected. We originally contacted to complete minor repairs to our house after the original contractor disappeared without a . The work that was left over was not much, and we didn't expect any contractors to take interest in such a small scope of work. ...More We also had originally thought that insurance should have covered more on our damage claim, but our prior contractor lost siding samples and was not persistent in dealing with the insurance company.
, however, has been nothing but responsive and reliable. came to our home to review our claim and view the damage, and with his help, we were able to break through all the red tape and get additional funds to replace our siding. Throughout the entire process, was helpful, communicative and straight-forward.
As for the work they performed, it was top rate. we've gotten so many compliments on our siding, wraps, and soffits from friends, family, and neighbors. The contractors worked quickly and efficiently, and at the end of the job, they did a great job in making sure that everything was picked up (no nails/debris).
I would highly recommend to anybody who is having any work done to their home. The peace of mind that comes with working with a company that is competent, reliable, and communicative is priceless.
Do it. You won't be sorry.

- Dan O.

My parents and I are extremely pleased by the service, quality of work and professionalism displayed by , the workmen, and the office administrator of and Maintenance. My elderly parents were in of a roofing company to replace their 20+ year old roof. After speaking with another ...More company and left feeling uneasy, of TurnKey restored our faith of an honest and hard working company . spent time with my parents giving them a step by step game plan explaining what materials were going to be used, how long it would take, and the procedure that would be taken. Most importantly worked with my parents to stay within their budget. He offered them different options and gave them the time they needed to make their own decisions without the pushy salesperson technique displayed by the other company. As promised, his crew arrived on time and completed the work in one day. They respected the surrounding landscaping, and impeccably cleaned up the work area. The finished roof has been reinforced with Weather Loc peel and seal, and Duration shingles. Now Mom and Dad have a beautiful roof. and TurnKey continue the good work!! Your honesty and work ethics will outshine any other company!
