met me on time for the estimate and gave me a very fair price. We agreed on the terms and schedule to begin and complete the repairs - beginning the next day. The next morning
showed up on time with a crew of 5. They put in 10 hours that first day They cleaned as they worked and when they left for the night there was no mess to clean up. It took three days to complete the job including the painting and side project building a movie theater in an adjacent room. The entire job was completed on time and I received progress reports each day. The finished work was first rate. All repairs were very well done and the Home Theater side project was excellent. Every facet of the work performed was top notch. I was very impressed with the variety of skills the crew possessed and the overall quality of their work. I will hire
again.
I have rental property and will use
for extensive repairs and renovations to those properties. Over the years I have used many contractors and individual craftsmen for large and small jobs on all of my properties.
was the best overall experience I have ever had with a construction project.

was great to work with. He was very easy to reach, and he always called back promptly. I had some issues getting the permit from the city (not his fault), and
was very patient and helpful, and he got the job done as soon as the permit was ready. His son and his helper came out on a Saturday morning, and completed the entire job in under four hours. Our patio cover looks great, and the price was very reasonable.
also gave me some estimates for new shutters, and we will be getting him to do that work soon. I would definitely recommend

's Plumbing had previously installed our tankless waterheater, so we knew he did excellent work. We had him come out in September to give us an estimate for our new kitchen, We were swapping the kitchen and dining room locations, so we needed new plumbing for water, gas, and venting in the new kitchen area; and we needed the plumbing in the old kitchen area disconnected. He provided and estimate of just under $3000 for the work and we told him we would like to have it done in November.

As the time approached, we called to schedule the work. He came out to reconfirm and we gave him a $500 deposit. They arrived promptly on the day the work was scheduled to begin.

We were taking out cabinets and moving them from one room to the other, they were willing to work around us. They roughed in the plumbing for the sink, then over the weekend we removed the sink and base cabinet, moved them to the new location, and on Monday they came back and connected the sink and faucet.

Not every contractor is willing to work with homeowners the way they were.

We will call

again, when we do the master bathroom.

I started a redo of our small master bath. My wife decided she would like to also replace the tub with a shower since i had already pulled the toilet and was in process of redoing the ceramic tile floor. I priced the liners at the box stores and decided they were not to our liking. Had the New Bath rep come out and ended up buying from them. A little pricier than we (I) would have liked for removal of old bathtub and replace with a new shower. They came in as scheduled. were very professional, and did a great job. After they put in the shower and before I put in the new ceramic tile floor, I noticed some water on the floor coming from behind the shower after our first shower use. I called them and they were out the next day to repair it. Overall we love the new shower, and it looks great.

He has a good website and was able to give me an estimate right over the phone. I like the fact they take credit cards as a lot of general contractors and subs want either cash or a check. He returned my calls in a timely manner and was very professional. I had to cancel the appointment to do the work because he did not have worker's comp and my insurance company will not allow me to have contractors on the property unless they carry workman's comp. I was disappointed because I bet the guy could have done some good work for me.

The owner called me up on the following day, around 7pm (so basically I spent the whole day at the house for nothing and received no estimate, which I would have likely signed off on the spot to get the work done), and stated he could not get any of his guys to come over and give me an estimate because they were on BIG jobs and that they would not come out and give me an estimate. I guess he decided not to give me an estimate as well because he did not show or call me to at least give me the courtesy so that I would not waste a day hanging around the house.

I really don't have a problem with that, except

1) the owner should change his website to cross small jobs out when it states they do big and small jobs

"At
Gretna Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
of New Orleans, our name says it all! No remodeling job is too big or small for our skilled carpenters."

The above needed to be changed, they only want to do BIG jobs.

The owner should simply inform callers that they do not do those types of projects. It saves everybody a lot of time and aggravation.

and 2) they should learn how to pick up the phone and tell the customer that they are not going to show up so that the customer does not wait all day at the house. When you don't call to tell me you are not coming you are basically stating that my time is worthless. At my job I fire contractors and vendors that pull that stunt on me and I do it in my personal life as well. When I tried to call during the day the answer machine picked up so that was no help either.

See, what the owner / GC and these guys / subs don't understand, is that I had other work that I needed estimated. I also was looking for estimates for having the house's siding replaced, as well as the wood trim around the house; I needed a significant drainage project performed; a kitchen demo'ed, the cabinets taken down, the walls patched and skimmed, as well as painted; and two bathrooms completely remodeled. In addition, I needed a patio cover replaced. If you add that all up, you are talking over $50,000 worth of work mostly to be paid for by insurance, which is a lock on payment for the most part when you complete the work. In the New Orleans

, that is the best you are going to get. People in the New Orleans

are for the most part middle class to poor. There are not really that many BIG jobs out there. How many new houses do you see getting built these days? Not many. . . . .

Before you do a bathroom remodel, a siding job, or a roof job for me, I want to see what your quality is. You start with a small job, and if I like your work and your people have a good attitude, can perform the work with a good quality, and the price is fair, then you get to the bigger projects. You think I am going to let a general contractor and his subs do a bathroom remodel if they can't even replace a ceiling fan and patch the ceiling? Why would I let you remodel the kitchen if you guys can't even do a
Gretna Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
job? You guys and all of the other GCs in this area need to understand something, when we call for an estimate, it is like an interview. I am gauging whether I want to work you. I want to see if you show up on time, if your people look like they have a substance abuse problem, I am looking at your insurance, whether you guys can even put together a decent estimate, whether you know how to conduct business in a professional manner, etc. I am trying to figure out whether I can use you for all of my general contractor needs. And the small job I am calling you with, is another type of job interview. You do that job, and I determine whether to use you for other things. So this guy, basically failed the first job interview by both not showing up and not calling to inform me that he would not show, and therefore was unable to proceed to the second job interview, which would have given him an opportunity to show me some good quality workmanship and the beginning of a working relationship.

Again, I don't have a problem with that, I just want other people to know that if you call this guy, don't hang around waiting for him to show on your day off. Schedule some other general contractors to come so that you will have several estimates. Do what you need to do, and make him call you when he is on his way 15 minutes out so that you don't waste your time. Moreover, make sure you only call him for BIG jobs, because as the owner states, "they ONLY do BIG jobs."

My wife and I wanted additional work space in the kitchen. HIS sized and sketched an island then scheduled a meeting with a cabinet showroom. After visiting the showroom, It was evident to us that a more economical approach would suit our needs.
We took the sketches to a local cabinet shop and contacted with them for the finished product.

The service provided byDirect Source was at best poor. There was no management of the project. I’ve listed the points where mismanagement occurred.

The contract included money to move the breaker box and wiring from the back of the house. With the installed new siding, the back of the house would be free of electrical wiring and equipment. So either

didn't give the electrical sub-contractor all the information or the electrical sub-contractor didn’t pass the information to their employees. The electrician moved the breaker box but then installed a junction box in the middle of the back of the house. This was completely unacceptable and the electricians had to move it to the side of the house. We had no electricity for about 48 hours during this process. There was no oversight of the project by the

staff.

I was at home the day the patio cover was installed. The plan was for the posts to be cemented in the ground. However, the installers didn’t know this and had cut the posts for mounting on the patio. I noticed this and the installers revised their plans. They had to purchase additional materials. Again, there was no oversight by the

staff. This is yet another example of poor project management.

Finally, the electrician arrived to install the ceiling fans. Fan beams had been incorporated into the insulated patio cover for the electrical wiring associated with the ceiling fans. The electrician told me that the wiring for the ceiling fans could not be fished behind the siding. The patio cover extended too high for easy access. So, the electrician installed a gray metal conduit horizontally along the underside of the patio cover and vertically near the switch. Subsequently, I found out that the wiring could have been fished behind the siding, albeit at additional effort and cost.

I was very upset with the outcome of this installation. I had not paid the additional $1300 to move the breaker box and junction box from the back of the house to have these metal conduits “decorate” the house. I asked

with
Gretna Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
about removing these metal conduits and fishing the wiring. He told me it would be too expensive and wouldn’t happen. A project manager with experience and doing his job should have planned the work knowing what the outcome of the job. The electrical wiring should have been run before the siding was installed.

There was no cleanup following the work.

Cable had to come out to reinstall cable to the upstairs for a cost of $367.32. The alarm company had to come out to hook up to the phone line, another $324.00. There are still cables, hoses, etc. exposed.
