I purchased this massage from back in April. I followed the instructions & called to schedule. They did not respond, despite their message saying they would respond within 24 hours. After a couple of days, I called again & yet again, no response. I finally complained to groupon via a phone call. The owner of

finally sent me an email, claiming they were overwhelmed with business & directed me to their website to schedule. It was several days until the automated online scheduling system was operational. I checked back for several days, following the instructions on their website, saying it would be up soon. Of course, it wasn't & was a couple of days late. The website also promised they were hiring two more massage therapist to handle the work load. When I tried to schedule, they were booked up through

, so I decided to wait for one of the new therapist. Finally, they hired one of the two they claimed they would hire, but that one employee was part-time & I couldn't make our schedules mesh. The soonest I could schedule that worked for me was August 13th. I decided to wait until September 24th because it is the day before my birthday. I thought it would be a great beginning to another year older.
When I paid and agreed to their terms of service, I agreed to schedule by phone. After they changed it to appointment by internet ONLY, I was a little concerned with the lack of a personal touch, especially from a company that specializes in personalized service. I do not believe it's appropriate to change the terms of service after the customer pays.
Two days before my massage, I received a confirmation email & of course was excited. This was going to be wonderful. I did not check their website again for changes to their terms of service, because I never considered they would change their terms after payment. On the 24th, I had a babysitter set up in advance & dropped my babies off. I had their address on my groupon voucher, so punched it into my GPS & was on my way. I did not recognize the location from the picture I observed on their website in April. Their actual location is a suite behind a building, so it looked different from the highway. I found the business & arrived in their parking lot at 4:06 according to my iphone. There was only one car in the parking lot in front of the business. I went to the door & simply knocked. No answer. I waited a normal amount of time, assuming they didn't hear me and knocked again. Of course, no answer. I looked over & realized there was a sign instructing that nobody knock. I actually thought that this was crazy. At this time, I realized I had parked too far forward & repositioned my truck. While in my truck, I looked up the confirmation email & called them... only to be informed they do not do ANY business by phone & will NOT check ANY messages. I left a message anyway, hoping they would realize I was outside. I also sent an email saying I was outside waiting. He had cardboard over the windows, so I assumed he couldn't see me outside to answer the door. Still nothing. By this time, it's around 4:15 or so & I knocked again. I also tried the door handle. I did not shake the door, just simply checked to see if it was open, so I could let him know I was there. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt that perhaps they were upstairs (if they have an upstairs... I've never been in this place & wouldn't know) or in the back of the building or any reasonable explanation why they would not have greeted me at the door. I also made it a point to try to knock

since the door was solid oak & still trying to be reasonable and "Maybe they just can't hear me." Still, no answer. A neighbor came out & I asked if he knew the guy from the massage shop. He said no & asked what was wrong. I told him that I was upset because I had an appointment but they didn't answer the door. Finally, at 4:25, I gave one, final long, loud knock & called into the mail slot saying "Your 4:00 is here & beginning to get angry." FINALLY!!! The owner answered & said through the door "You're too aggressive. Leave. I'm calling the police." OMG!!! Seriously??? Because I knocked loudly, trying to give him the benefit of the doubt? I truly thought he couldn't hear me. I said "Well, if that's the case, I'd like a refund." Again, he said he was calling the police. I was on the verge of tears & welcomed the police, to get them to make this guy realize he was being unreasonable. I looked for a notebook in my truck to leave a note to let him know I was in no way a threat to him & was trying to make sure he knew I was outside. Since I didn't have a notebook, I used a half of a folder to write on. I was crying over the rude treatment & him ruining my birthday gift to myself, it took me a few minutes to write the note. I stuck it in the door & left. I wrote that I was appalled that he didn't answer the door & about how rude this treatment was. The police didn't show in the time I wrote the note, so I left.
After I arrived home, I was of course telling my husband of my visit & he was upset. During this conversation, I received an email alert on my phone from

. The owner claimed I was aggressive & inappropriate. He claimed I pounded on the door and frightened him. Seriously? I was a female, alone, with a serious
Baton Rouge Massage Therapists Provider Name Locked
condition and I threatened him by knocking? Wow. That's a first for me. Normal people would have answered the door the first time I knocked & acknowledged me. I do not appreciate being ignored and mistreated. I tried to give him every benefit of the doubt that he didn't hear me & he didn't extend the same consideration to me. Why could he simply not respond to me when he heard me. I assume from the email he sent me that the first time he realized I was there was when I repositioned my truck in the parking lot & not when I initially arrived.

THIS NEXT PART REFERS TO HIS EMAIL AND IS MY RESPONSE (but I did not send any of this to him since he threatened me)
His email was very accusatory and I felt threatened by it. He refers to "signs" that say not to knock. There is only one sign to the right of the door, in a frame, very similar to the advertising sign. I did not initially read it. He claims I pounded the door. I absolutely did not. I used my

and knocked. I did knock

in the later times I knocked because I thought with the thick door, he couldn't hear me. I was still trying to hope he was reputable and reasonable. He claims I tried the lock several times. I didn't. I tried it one time only. He also claims I arrived at 4:11. I did not. That was when I repositioned my truck in the parking lot. He said they were about to let me in despite their policy to treat every appointment as a know show after 10 minutes late, but my pounding frightened him & his wife. If anyone should have been afraid, it was me! I was alone & there were two of them & I have a

condition. Why not simply yell through the door that they heard me? Wouldn't that be reasonable & still safe? They also had my phone number available as provided when I set up the appointment and also through groupon, but they did not bother to attempt to call me & let me know they heard me. Had they called or emailed me & I could have easily explained that I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt & assumed they didn't hear me. I am very sorry if me knocking scared them. My intent was to give them every excuse possible of why they were decent people. The whole situation could have been resolved by a little common courtesy and communication. His email warned that if I replied to it, he would call the cops. So basically, he could tell me his side of the story & I wasn't allowed to tell my perspective? With all his rules (don't knock, don't call, don't leave any notes, don't mail, don't reply, you HAVE to schedule online, etc...) he seems like a control freak to me. I do not know him, but I am very afraid of him & the fact he has my home address, phone number, etc. He seems very unreasonable and unstable in my experience. I am very afraid of someone with that level of paranoia & who's so afraid someone's out to get them.

When I told my husband of this event, he looked their website up & read where over & over again they instruct customers of their rules/conditions/demands. Over & over, it says they need paper trails of all correspondence with customers. This is just strange behavior to me. It also says the part time person hired was no longer with him & he was the only therapist on staff. With the amount of business & the backed up wait times, I was amazed he did not hire anyone else. This was not on their website when I initially purchased the massage or under no circumstances would I have agreed. When my husband looked, it said do not call, do not knock and they only do business by email so they have a paper trail. They also very rudely instruct customers that if they feel any email is demeaning, they will not do business with you. That is subject to their mood and opinion. Anyone can take anything the wrong way if they wish to. Well, I wasn't threatening, rude, demeaning or any of the above. I was trying to be very reasonable. Yes, I did tell them I was getting angry, but by then I had decided not to let them touch me & I would put a note out & leave.
My husband was very upset & I urged him to be nice. He promised he would & emailed them saying "I guess the customer is always right doesn't apply to
Baton Rouge Massage Therapists Provider Name Locked
. Good luck with your business." He received a "warning" that they would call the police if he responded to them again.

I paid for a sitter & they ruined my birthday massage all together with their paranoia and unreasonable behavior. They also have me afraid of them!!!

currently: no refund & I'm calling groupon Monday.
