"We had a great experience with
and
.
was the project manager and he had a courteous and conscientious work crew." You could tell that have worked together for some time as they were all on the same page and gave great attention to detail. They showed up promptly every morning at 7:15 a.m. and stayed until 5:00 p.m. or later if necessary. They were willing to work on Saturday if necessary. I would recommend

"It went great! From the initial contact for a bid to the final clean -up,
was consistently punctual, professional and helpful with the project. He was infinitely" patient with me as I have a tendency to change my mind and take a while to make decisions.
was very helpful in teaching us about the variety of materials available for flooring and came with us to the tile shop to make the final selection for our floor and shower. His tile man,
, did an excellent job with the small marble tile pattern that I ended up choosing for the floor.
was most obliging with the various requests we had during the construction phase. We valued his recommendations and incorporated many of them into the design. His craftsmanship is excellent .
was always very candid about how our decisions would affect the bottom line so there were no surprises with the final bill. I highly recommend
and will definitely call on
again when we have another job. .

is definitely the contractor to choose.

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

?
Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

Considering everything, the project went well. The workmanship was excellent. I would highly recommend the carpenter,
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. His work was outstanding. All of the workers were polite and efficient. They were also very neat!
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
has a good relationship with many suppliers so choosing and delivering fixtures, finishes and furnishings went very smoothly. The painters did an amazing job of matching the gumwood trim color on the new windows. Everyone worked hard to get the project done on time, although issues with the cabinets did push the finish deadline out about 10 days. The finished product is gorgeous.
However, we had trouble in two areas: the project manager had a family emergency (unforeseeable and no one's fault) which pulled him away from the project and resulted in some pieces of the project getting off track. The kitchen designer was the main source of our issues with
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. She was often unavailable, conversations and instructions did not translate to accurate designs, and her mismanagement of the design, placement, and order of the cabinets delayed the finish and forced us to compromise on details. The expertise we expected, and initially tried to work with, was not there. Our house is 75 years old and we knew the quirks and foibles but she was unwilling to accommodate those quirks or what we knew worked in the space because we had lived in it for 35 years.
I would recommend
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
but definitely not their in-house designer. This would have been a near perfect project without her. As with any project, I would recommend that the homeowner keep very detailed notes of all orders, designs, and changes.

The company was very responsive to my emails and phone calls. They were always retuned within the hour. I gave them a budget I was working with and they met it without question. I received a quote that was only good for one week and I ended up booking the job a month later and they still agreed to honor the quote which was great. The contract was easy to understand and didn't have any off the wall or unacceptable terms (and I deal with contracts all day long!). They required a 50% deposit and the remaining balance was paid after the job was completed. I sent measurements to get the quote (a sketch of the kitchen layout works best) and they sent out a person to measure a couple of days after I signed the contract. The install was scheduled for one week later. Definitely a faster turn around time than Lowe's or Home Depot. The person who did my measurements was a little late, but that was perfect, since I was late too due to rush hour traffic that day on the way home. He was very knowledgeable about the installation aspects such as where the seam would be, support for the countertop, making sure appliances fit, etc. Only weird thing was that he played music on his IPhone while doing my measurements.....kind of strange. He said my fridge was too loud so I guess I can understand that. It also took about 2 hours to measure my small kitchen which I thought was a long time. I ended up missing my son's reading night at school because of it. On the day of install, the guys showed up 1 hour early and I was sleeping - so not prepared at all! Being early is better than being late but I would recommend they call the customer next time. They got to work right away with demo to my old laminate countertops. That was done quickly, next came the template, which took a little bit longer. I have a wonky layout that is hard to install granite in so I am told. I did have to ask them to correct one area where they screwed down the base for the counters and it made my cabinet piece crooked. Once I pointed it out, they were quick to resolve the issue. It did start raining at the beginning of the install and they told me they wouldn't be able to work since they were using my driveway without cover for space. I would recommend they bring tents, especially if the forecast calls for rain, and that they tell customers ahead of time to move cars out of the driveway to leave room for their workspace. I also had to put extra rugs down since the rain was being tracked in on my new porcelain floor - so recommend they bring some type of floor protectors as well just in case. Once the rain stopped, they started up again and things went pretty smoothly after that. Once finished, then swept up my kitchen, shook out the rugs, and cleaned up the area which was very nice of them. All in all, it took almost 9 hours to finish the install. On another note, they do provide a free stainless steel sink with the install and it is great quality. It doesn't have the drain pieces though so you do have to buy those.

and his team were there every day on time. They finished the job in less than 7 days which was ahead of the tentative schedule he put out.
The bathroom looks brand new. Everything was fully functional and great looking from day one. They cleaned up after the job better than I'd hoped for.
I definitely plan on using them again. They are pretty busy but I'm glad I waited for

Mr.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
does what he says he's going to do, when he says he's going to do it...a quality that more contractors would do well to emulate. My wife and I hired him to renovate two bathrooms and repaint our entire apartment. For reasons far too numerous to get into, it had to be done on a very strict schedule and we were left high and dry by another contractor, a friend of mine actually, who strung us out for almost two months before telling us he couldn't even start the job. By then, we were desperate and had only reviews on Angie's List to help us make our decision.
If you're stuck for a contractor, Mr.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and his crew will do a very quick job, and generally speaking, it will be of good quality. I don't say "outstanding" because, frankly, the work was not outstanding. It was good. His guys didn't really clean up after themselves each day, and then left a lot of little things undone at the end, or rather, done not so well. A few of the things I asked him to come back and fix, like some substandard plumbing, cracked grout and messy calking, which he did without question and without charge, but most of the things, I plan to redo myself over time.
Overall, I think he does good work, though if I have a job of this scale ever again, I will probably bite the bullet and pay a bit more for higher quality workmanship elsewhere. Nonethless, I can't say enough about how he did the job when he said he was going to do it, and with very little lead time, I might add. Mr.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
is a very nice man, his workers (though messy) were good and if you can get past trying to understand him over the phone (very heavy accent), he'll work hard for you.
