"Found Case on Angie's List. Contacted and set up first appointment. Case was very helpful with an extraordinary attention to detail. Ensuing appointments and" meetings
to signing a contract today to finish large room with a kitchenette in the basement along with finishing an additional portion of the basement (dog room, hallway and doors to all other unfinished rooms). Also, replacing and enlarging deck area, and replacing two fireplaces in the house. The entire Case staff provided us with retro courtesy whereas customer service was their number one priority. It has been a long time since we have witnessed such a caring yet professional attitude with each proposed task. Their recommendations and alternative suggestions were always valid and welcomed as this was our first such experience. We look forward to providing "progress reports and statuses" when construction begins.

-Jerry G.

"First, this project is still in flight, and I expect to write a second review after it is finished. Having said that, we have put a significant amount of work in" already, and it makes sense to submit a review at this early stage. 1) CONTRACTOR SELECTION: Given the size of the project we reached out to 6-7 contractors to provide estimates.
(Omri) came in and spent an entire morning with us. He took detailed measurements, made a thorough inspection of the entire house, and even provided a rough draft of the kitchen on the first day. I was beyond impressed by the amount of time and effort that he put in BEFORE we had even discussed price. He was completely up front / honest about estimates and timelines, even telling us things we did not want to hear. No hard selling, very patient, and very even tempered. (I have a lot of questions, and Omri was happy to answer them all.) 2) INITIAL NEGOTIATIONS:
's estimates were higher than any of the other contractors. However, we were impressed by the time and effort they put in to get our business. Also, they were the only contractors that made an effort to follow up AFTER the initial visit. We did go back and forth on budget negotiations, and while this aspect of a job is always the hardest, and most contentious, we were dealt with openly and honestly. Finally, we were impressed by the process-oriented approach of
. They moved through each item step by step, and also outlined each deliverable very clearly. This was probably the most appealing aspect of dealing with
. They are very responsive and very specific. 3) PLANNING AND PREP: This project had a very long lead time. We began planning at the end of September, and began work in late January. This allowed us the time to plan the kitchen to best suit our needs, as well as the natural ‘flow’ of the house. Omri was not only patient during multiple design changes, but provided valuable suggestions and input. The team (foreman and cabinet maker) that came in for an initial walkthrough was also very professional. They were polite, respectful and knowledgeable. And most important (for me), willing to listen. We did take an unusually long time to settle on cabinet finish. This was probably the first significant obstacle in the project and working through it was stressful and frustrating. I appreciate the time and effort
and Omri put in to provide samples and work with us to come to a decision. (Once again… patient and even-tempered.) The project is now on day 5, and we have encountered our first couple of hiccups. I realize that obstacles are inevitable in projects this size… but HOW they are handled makes a big difference. I appreciate the manner in which Omri and his team handles them.

Angie's Answers

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

from Modern Homes was responsive from the initial call for an estimate on our very old dated bathroom.
I had many contractors come out and give estimates.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was the only one who was helpful in making suggestions and giving some very useful ideas.
The bathroom was totally gutted to the studs. The electrical was repaired, an old bathtub was removed, sinks, old closets, old tile floor removed, everything went.
The project went very smoothly,

were very responsive and along the way gave some great ideas.
They were very patient with me, as I made multiple purchases and returns of lights, they even installed another toilet for me after I changed my mind and purchased another toilet for the new bathroom.
The tile work came out beautiful, I had new floors and walls re-done in tile.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
gave great suggestions for purchasing these items. I struggled finding just the right cabinetry for the bathroom.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
came with me to Kitchen Express to help pick out cabinetry and sinks. I was impressed.
Best Tile was fantastic in helping me pick out just the right tile, grout etc.
I would not hesitate to call
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and his team again for any project that I have.
The entire project took approximately 2 weeks, the bathroom was usable after a week.
I feel fortunate to have found a company that takes great pride in their work, their craftsmanship is really beautiful.

Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
is the finest home contracting company I have ever worked with. My wife and I began our kitchen replacement research over a year ago as we are frugal (not cheap) customers. We talked to a number of highly rated contractors including several from Angie's List. Most contractors I would describe as 'good' or 'very good' but
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was the BEST in our opinion. We called
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and specifically requested to speak to
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
, as we saw many positive remarks about him on Angie's List reviews. We were very glad that we did as
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
walked us through the whole process and gave us multiple and easily understood options for each phase of our project. We ended up choosing Kraftmaid Cabinets as
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
has a new retailer discount with them and we chose a Spanish tile floor and new stainless appliance for the kitchen as well as a matching tile entrance way into the foyer and a completely redone entry way powder room. In addition we had our adjacent living room painted too by
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
The contractors showed upon time and all of them were multi-skilled. The initial process included gutting the kitchen and powder room, completion of the plumbing and electrical work and then installing the floor tiles. Next came the cabinet installation, custom installation of the granite countertops by
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
(who also does their own cutting), and then all of the finishing work.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was in constant contact with us and extremely attentive to our concerns. There were a few items that came up which were not in our contract which we later wanted as the project was in process and
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
ended up throwing them in for free. I doubt other companies would have done that. There were several other side projects I needed help with including moving an old basement refrigerator out of the house, and
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's workers gladly helped me with those too. The entire project ran about 3 weeks and
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
actually finished ahead of schedule. My wife and I were very, very pleased with the project and the value of the work that was done. We were so impressed with their work that we are now going to contract with them to totally rebuild the two master baths and connecting powder rooms in our house. Several of my associates are also planning to have
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
do their home projects too based on my experience.

After doing project with
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
in the past we call them back when we had another project for them. The first project was perfect. This project was less complicated and faster to finish. We did our kitchen this time and again Ari help us from the minute we call him to the minute we pay the last dollar. Ari was the reason we did our kitchen he show us the potential that hide in our house and this was amazing to see the 3D design. The whole project took a little more then a 2 months including the cabinets and the whole electric upgrades plumbing floor install and countertop. We wanted bigger open kitchen and Ari had good ideas and we really like one idea to make it open to bring more light to the room few changes. We always talk about who did our remodel and how fun it was to see the change and to be part of the process, we always recommended Ari &

We contacted Economy Kitchen and Bath (EKB) last year and they presented us with a very sound proposal at a reasonable price. The deciding factor in going with EKB, vs. another company, was that some friends had just used them and were very satisfied with the work done.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
met with us and
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
up a detailed project plan. It called for 12 days of actual work time, including demolition, but because of holidays and our vacation, we agreed to stretch the project over 2 months.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was flexible in working around our schedule. Pat had the lead and did an excellent job on the tile work. I like the fact they didn’t take any short cuts in their work – or at least I didn’t see any. For example, they had to do some additional steps to install an electrical junction box to comply with Code. They were very upfront about what they were doing and why. The project was completed on schedule, with no surprises or added cost. Throughout the project,
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
kept us informed of what was going on, and responded on a timely basis to my e-mail questions. The quality of the remodeling work was excellent. I feel very good about the final product.
- Ellen A.

We hired
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to completely renovate our kitchen.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
's design was superb - he fully met our needs and was very patient. The construction crew did an outstanding job in completing the project. The job involved a complete demo of our existing kitchen. New cabinets and appliances were installed. All plumbing and electrical work was flawlessly installed. The construction crew kept the work area very clean throughout the project. The new kitchen turned out very nice!! We are very happy with
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and will use them again for future projects.
- Robert P.

The job took over 2 years from the date of contracting. The company repeatedly set dates then pushed it off when it got close to a set date. We finally talked to the president of the company and then it took another 3 months to start. Once started, it was on again off again progress over another several months. And then a few more months for punch list items. While the end product it looks good in general, small details showed lack of attention to quality.
- Judy C.

were extremely pleasant , professional and creative. They spent a lot of time with us in drawing up several proposals and were very responsive to our inquiries. We would certainly recommend this company to anyone who likes their line of cabinets.

From the first time we met
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
he was very knowledgeable, straightforward and honest.
When we first went over the total remodeling project he mentioned the complications that could occur during construction, so there would be no surprises or additional costs. He took care of all the architectural and engineering plans that were approved by the city. From the time the job started there was no lapse, there was always somebody at our house working. There was a nice flow of coordination. All of the inspections were approved the first time around with no delays which was very important to us.
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
Construction delivered and the result of our project is awesome! We really appreciate
Baton Rouge Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and all the crew.
I would highly recommend
