"I have worn glasses my whole life. In the last few years my vision has deteriorated and I am having some dificulty. I saw Dr.
who I must" say was exceptional. Attentive, listens, thorough and an exceptional bedside manner. He explains things well and makes the patient feel at ease. He is the best Opthamologist I have seen to date and I have seen many. I will definately refer freinds and family to him. As for the office setup and staff I must say I was impressed. The office was busy ahd the staff was quick and well organized.

"It was great. I would highly recommend him. He took time, explained everything. I originally going to him for a second opinion on my eyes for a possible cataract" surgery. He was honest and suggested that I didn't need surgery. He was great.

Ophthalmology

Quite literally meaning "the science of the eyes." ophthalmology studies the way the eye works. Ophthalmologists care for this incredibly complex and delicate part of the body and the factors that affect its health.

A growing number of people are buying prescription glasses online. Some advice — and cautions —if you plan to browse frames and lenses sans the store.

Absolutely you have rights to your own medical records. You may have to put it in writing and go through the offices records department. Call and ask to speak with the records department and ask their protocol.

I had the first of 3 or 4 planned eye surgeries with Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
in Sept., 2014, and had additional appointments scheduled. Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
had a health issue and was cancelling various appointments for several months, leading to a lengthy leave of absence. Although Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
knew well in advance that he would have to cancel all of his appointments for at least the entire month of November, 2014, he delayed notifying his patients until shortly before their appointments and wrote that it was due to an unforeseen circumstance. His office refused to re-schedule my appointments with Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
, did not refer me to another eye surgeon, and offered me only an office visit with his Physician's Assistant. This delay prevented me from completing my
surgeries and improving my vision in 2014. I will pay thousands of dollars for an additional insurance deductible in 2015.
Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
's delay in notifying me and his failure to refer me for appropriate care elsewhere were just two examples of a poorly run office and lack of consideration for the patient. Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
diagnosed me with a rare
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
disease, explained it, and instructed me to sign up for surgery; I asked for written information on the disease and the surgical procedure, but they
said that there was no patient information. His employee sent me to purchase a $108 prescription which I did not need, and I have never opened the bottle. I posted a question in his online Message Center about my medications, but no one responded. They gave me printed post-op instructions to use an eye medication but did not warn that it would cause blurry vision; when I contacted Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
's office to report my blurry vision, a tech gave me medical advice that was different from what Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
wanted me to do. When Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
wanted to check my post-surgical eye again in 4 weeks, the scheduler couldn't get me in before 6 weeks. After Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
cancelled my appointments, I requested that my records be sent to another ophthalmologist and to me; the records were not sent in a timely manner, and they charge 50 cents per page to give patients their own records. My usual time in the waiting room was 45 minutes to 1 hour with additional waiting time in the dilation and
exam rooms for a total of 2-1/2 to 3 hour office visits. A sign says to notify the receptionist if you have been waiting for longer than 15 minutes, but they don't do anything about it.
Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
is a knowledgeable physician. He provided me with excellent advice and surgery for which I am grateful. I would be willing to overlook many of the inconveniences at his office in order to receive his expert care. However, the way that Dr.
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
treated me when he had a personal health issue
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
me to believe that he had priorities other than my best eye care, and I could no longer trust him. I do not know the nature of his health issue or how it has affected his ability to take care of his
patients in the past, at present, or in the future.

They do a good job of examining the eyes. He does a good job. They don't make you wait a long time. They are busy so sometimes I do have to wait.

My overall experience with him has been excellent. My primary care physician recommended me to him. He’s very nice. He’s just a great physician, as well as his staff and everybody there. He’s on top of everything. I just like the way everything is run. He’s an excellent provider and an excellent physician. I will definitely use him again in the future.

I’ve been using them for 15 years. It went very well. He is the only doctor I know there. He seems very competent. I
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
’t know anything about eyes. I can’t judge his work but he is getting a cataract, which I’m going to have operated on sometime in the future. I will have a cataract lens replacement. He is also a surgeon. I was very happy with my visit. The staffs were all friendly. I knew one of the staff members and she took good care of me. She is somebody I knew from the past. I was there for an hour and a half. I didn’t have to wait too long. They gave several different exams. I had a pre-exam given by the nurse. Dr
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
gave me a thorough exam. They also sell eyeglasses. Their eyeglasses tend to be expensive. They are on the pricey side. I didn’t buy glasses this time. My wife did sometime in the past. They probably could have done better with the glasses. The service was excellent. They seem to be fine. They are very professional. It took awhile to make an appointment. It took several weeks to get in there. It didn’t surprise me that it was that long. The office is very modern and clean. I didn’t have to wait long. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my appointment. They took my co-pay and my insurance. It’s everything that I expected. They were very good. I had a good experience overall.

Experience was generally okay. Did not do correct diagnosis the first time but happily re-scheduled and re tested. Overall a good experience.

He is extremely professional and has a very nice office. Scheduling is good and they always send card reminders. I had some issues after the operation and he had me come in several times after the operation and it was very easy to be seen.

Had PRK (a version of refractive eye surgery, like
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
) done with Dr Kornmehl. Thanks to his detailed and experienced recovery procedure (and diligent diagnosis), had better-than-expected results and a smooth recovery. His staff (
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
,
Orleans Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
,etc) are very nice, organized and supportive. Gave a B on availability because Dr Kornmehl is extremely busy. Gave a B on bedside manner for similar reasons (he is rushed during the day with so many appointments).. but ultimately this did not have any impact on my care.
Would urge anyone thinking about corrective eye surgery to do some (easy) web research into average success-rate statistics and then compare those to Dr Kornmehl's results. His are superior, and for very good reason. Would (and have) recommended him to others.
