"I wanted my 27 year old guest bathroom to be tiled (floor/walls) and painted. I was also looking for options to replace or update an older vanity which was made" out of laminate. My husband and I purchased the tile at a local box store. The day the initial contractor started I was leaving town to attend a 5-day conference. The bathroom was to be completed upon my return. When I got back and saw my bathroom, I literally cried. The tiles were crooked and chipped - grout and paint were everywhere. I was able to lift the tiles up with my hands. I can go on and on about how awful it was and I'm sure everyone has experienced a similar nightmare at some point in their lives. But on to the positive.... My husband remembered
from high school and we gave him a call. When he saw what he had to deal with, he was not only compassionate, but also provided great ideas about how to salvage what we could and replace what needed to be replaced. We had already spent close to $800 on tile and all of it would have to be torn down.
replaced the floor tiles that were broken, cut incorrectly or were just crooked. He took down the wall tiles, re-sheet rocked 3 walls, and put up new tile. He provided great ideas to make the bathroom look bigger than it was. He re-painted and put up new molding. He replaced my mirror, lights, and electrical outlets. He did all of this in three days with his very professional assistant,
. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND
to anyone. He was professional, extremely NEAT, friendly, punctual and friendly. Thank you
, for saving my bathroom!!

"From the beginning, they were on top of everything. When we discovered what we thought was a pre-existing wood floor in the kitchen, they were prepared to save" it and told me what the cost savings would be. Then, when I decided that it was only a really nice sub-floor, we reverted to the original plan, and they took it all in stride, even though it must have been frustrating for them.

Hardwood Flooring

There are few home improvement choices that add as much character and warmth — not to mention resale value — as hardwood flooring. But before hiring a flooring contractor to install or repair hardwood flooring, it’s important to know both its advantages and disadvantages.

Wood is a living, breathing product that contracts and expands as it releases and absorbs moisture. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Danica K. of Independence, Ohio)

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.

Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Mr.
New Albany Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
and his crew were courteous and professional. They did a wonderful job installing the floor and the room looks great. He charged a fair price for the job and I would recommend him for wood flooring installation.

We had 6 bids to do a job of installing hardwoods and to re-tile our 90s looking fireplace.
New Albany Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
was definitely the most knowledgeable and did not try to sell us on any one product. Most of the other bids seemed like they were pushing one type of floor or another, and none had the wide array of choices, especially for engineered hardwoods, that
New Albany Wood Flooring Experts Provider Name Locked
did. The pricing was reasonable considering the coverage was >1500 sf and there were some other minor repairs needed and the re-tiling of the fireplace. The product we went with was engineered hardwoods for a variety of reasons, but one of them being the fact we loved the acacia wood. The team of installers arrived in the time frame they indicated each of the three days. They worked quickly and efficiently. The appearance of our new floors and new fireplace tile was more stunning than we thought it would be. The installation team was professional and engaging and all of our questions along the way were answered honestly and without bias. Great job.

They are young men, quite professional and dedicated. You can work with them about the price. Overall I'm pretty happy with the quality even though they had a hiccup with veneered angled stairs. I will recommend them and will use them in the future.

Everything went very well. All personnel were professional and courteous. Pat, who removed the old finish, amazed me with his non-stop efforts on a physically grueling task. The washed oak shading was a bit tricky to match, but they did very well.

Scheduling was easy. They were here for 8 hours each day for two days. We had a leak afterward and they immediately sent someone to fix it. It’s the best contractor that I’ve ever worked with.

They did a superb job. They do not make commission so the salesperson was very professional. We paid the exact amount of the estimate. We were very impressed with the workman who did the work in two days while never disturbing us.

We did not have any problems with them and they did a really good job. They sub-contract the work out. They guarantee the work and it comes with a warranty if any issues come up with the floor. They cleaned up everything and put everything back in place and wiped all the stuff down when they were finished. They got the job done in about 5 days.

They were excellent. They were very thorough and efficient. The technician explained exactly what he was doing every step of the way and gave estimates for future projects. I would highly recommend them.
