Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Reviews

"Estimate was originally $5.2K Contractor said work would take two weeks. It took the contractor almost 6 weeks, of which about 5 days in the middle work was stopped because we were scheduled for vacation but it was still way past deadline. It cut into the start of our kids school year which was very inconvenient. The original estimate was to tear down a wall between two rooms, run wiring, electric and turn the area into three rooms. A lot of the original supplies were to be salvaged and used if possible. The original estimate was to include two additional windows and to add a closet and bedroom door. Due to the location of wiring on one wall, one of the windows could not be added, which I agreed to, but I the contractor never installed the other new window. He just moved one and used the existing window. In addition, I ended up paying for the two additional doors (bedroom & closet). I felt like he did a good job with the electrical wiring and relocating the heating vents. His measurements, walls and trim were perfect. I did have a problem with the professionalism of the crew. At times, there was a lot of horsing around on the job, poor communication or calls on days going to be present or not, or not showing up when it was communicated that they would. At one point, the manager and the first (of two) contract employees were wrestling and they both came tumbling down the stairs. The first contracted employee quit two days later. Outside of the manager, the contract help seemed inexperienced. We saw progress when the manager was present but the work was limited when he was not. Also, when he was present, his attention competed with multiple phone calls, discussing other projects, future jobs and other business. Considering how many hours were spent, I feel like I got a fair price for what I paid. It was my first contract construction experience and I ended up with a finished product (although I had to finish it myself). In the end, I felt like I paid them off just to get it over. I ended up having to finish the closets myself, sanding down the drywall because the texture was too course to paint. I had minor wiring issues with the fire detectors and cable that had to be fixed and I don't think care was not taken when it came to splattering of paint on furniture and cleanliness. Next time I believe I will pay a little extra and get a more established and professional crew."

"My husband called him to request a quote for services. A car had driven through our fence, tree, and impacted our home. Upon hearing the situation, Mr
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
informed my husband that he doesn't like working with Insurance companies and would rather not waste his time or my husband with a quote. After reading all of the wonderful ratings for Mr
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
's professionalism and quality of work I was incredibly shocked by his dismissive response.

Especially given the situation; I am incredibly disappointed that he couldn't even take the time to give a quote for the work, let alone actually doing any work.

"An absolute nightmare from beginning to end – The photos can speak for themselves. During the process of deciding which windows we wanted to use as replacement windows, our contractor gathered measurements & estimates on
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
Windows. The Contractor told us he would get us a “deal” and get the windows at his cost. Upon seeing his estimate we asked him to give us the measurements. I went to Lowes only wanting to see what my windows would actually look like, and much to my surprise; the windows quoted at a “deal” were much more expensive than the pricing at Lowes. The gentleman at Lowes was extremely helpful, and showed me all grades of windows available along with pricing. We ended up being able to upgrade a series in Windows, while still saving $5,000. The Contractor was constantly asking me when we would be ordering the Windows, so I in turn informed him of our decision to go with Lowes and the upgraded option. My husband then asked the Contractor if the measurements were correct, as we would be ordering them from Lowes. The Contractor confirmed the measurements and my husband then placed the order through Lowes. Due to such a large order, the windows took 6 weeks to arrive. When the windows came in, the carpenter called my husband to inform him the two largest windows were the wrong size. The Contractor continually denied any involvement in providing the wrong measurements. After repeated asking, my husband finally got the answer, “Yes, we provided you the wrong measurements.” The Contractor finally agreed to put $2,000 towards the new windows (which did not cover their mistake). The Contractor was also hired to raise the flooring in the living room as it was a sunken floor. When our flooring contractor was there to install the new Bamboo Wood Flooring, we formed yet another setback due to the floor being uneven. The Contractor then stated that we put in “filler” or

the house up – the flooring Contractor said he would not use filler to level the floors (and multiple Contractors have stated “jacking the house up” would have caused more problems. My husband then had to tear out the flooring and install new wood to even out the floors. When my husband contacted

(

) they used filthy language and repeatedly asked for “their money.” The masonry work was absolutely atrocious. We had 2 large windows taken out and we needed the masonry work to be filled in where the new windows would not reach. Originally he said, “No problem, I can match the brick fine.” The first brick chosen by

did not match our home’s original brick, and we did not care for that. The next day,
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
called me at work and tried to convince me the brick was close enough and he “didn’t have the time to run around looking for brick.” He then decided it was OK to use brick on our property (which he originally said was too weathered). The brick was laid at different

; filler used where it shouldn’t have etc. (again reference the photos). We also have drywall splattered all over our walls, doors, and floors (which we had to clean up). Our nightmare continued by a new roof that was installed by
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
. Our contract clearly states that they would replace the gutter guards after the new roof was installed – they were thrown in the garage. When my husband called him about this issue, he laughed at him and said, “I’ll give you $250 and you can put them back on yourself.” When my husband went into the attic with the Contractors, they noticed a 1 foot hole in the roof where the Contractor had taken out a vent, which he then told my husband we didn’t need. What he failed to tell us was that he did not fill the hold with wood, he simply put tar paper over the hole and covered with shingles. It appears
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
takes on zero responsibility for his mistakes. What he does not understand is that this is our home, which took us 2 years to find. My husband and I are close to retirement, and he has made this experience a complete nightmare. Our hope is that other members will see this report and take notice to this poorly seen contracting business. We will continue the path we need to take under the advice of our attorney.

"They are unreliable. It took more than a week to receive a phone call back. They made an estimate for this evening. I made arrangements for a babysitter. They called me this morning and said they would not be able to make it. They rescheduled the appointment for 10 days later. This is unacceptable. They sent a letter to us in the mail that we received 5 days after our initial call and then did not call us back until the next week."

did a great job! They were very friendly, clean, and explained each step Before they began and as they proceeded. Because
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
recommended we remove the drywall and replace with cement board for proper adhesion with the very heavy stone I had chosen, he was able find a section of active mold growing behind the sink from an old repaired leak in the drywall. I'm thankful he pointed it out to me so I could address it before they installed the cement board that was needed. I really appreciated the fact that they were easy to talk to and have in my home. It was a difficult and messy job that I wouldn't have wanted to do! (not to mention, it was absolutely freezing outside the 2 days of installation)

"Staff arrived punctually to work and cleaned up the site each day prior to leaving. Communicates in advance if anticipated weather would not permit work on future days (rain, snow, etc.)
Structural issues from the original construction and past 20 years were identified and corrected during the process. This was anticipated and factored in by the company. I have a much more structurally sound home with fewer leaks (which were unknown to me).
Finished look is very complementary to the neighborhood and improved the value of my home in addition to being "zero" maintenance. Note: Finished painting has not yet been completed due to temperature so the garage and entry door do not currently match.
The owner,
Mccordsville Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
, was on site each day to perform work and oversee the job. Staff was professional and friendly presentation at all times. I am never worried using this contractor at my home.
If I have a home improvement job and this company is available to do it, I use them. Examples of jobs included installation of a heatpump water heater, movement of washer and dryer to new location, and addition of electrical lights and outlets.
