"
arrived at the appointed time. Very nice personable young man. He went right to work checking all the possible areas where the leak could" be coming from. Then he went into the pool, dove down to the main drain to check it out. All seemed to be in order. Next, he took the pool light apart and discovered a major leak located at the light conduit. He repacked the hole and replaced the light. Everything was done within an hour and so far the pool is holding the water level. I'm very happy with

"After waiting two months for job to be done without any results I began requesting a refund without any response. I am filing a small claims action against him and filing a police report.

My order of preference - first choice a jacuzzi/hot tub repairman (from a jacuzzi/hot tub/sauna distributor), second choice a plumber (many do not work on hot tubs, jacuzzi's and sauna because they cnanot afford to stock parts). An electrician might be able to fix it if it is a connection problem, but such motors are seldom repaired if the problem is internal, just replaced - which would be a jacuzzi repairman/plumber type job.
?

You will have to find out what your model costs new - looks like they run from about $400 to 1700 depending on size. IF yours is at the lower end, might be just as cheap to replace it, with parts and labor. If not low end, then repair probably works. Typical pricing of components that might have gone out - switch $80, timer/control unit $130, heating element $100 (probably most likely to have failed) - so if only one of these went out, figuring $100-200 labor, probably cheaper to fix it. I would contact your dealer for a better idea.

BTW - here is a Saunatec instruction on maintenance on the heating element and rocks, failure to follow can shorten heating element life, if that is what went out (and probably the simplest to replace) -

I'm sorry to say there aren't many of us on here with adequate experience working on pools, myself included.  My suggestion would be to contact a few local companies specializing in pool renovation and have them give their recommendations and bids for the work, breaking down order of operations so you know what to expect at which stages.  Check Angie's List for referrals in your area and cross check those with the BBB for any unresolved complaints.

I had been fighting with another company for 2 1/2 weeks over my pool pump. They insisted that all their work was fine (they installed a new motor and fixed a leak) that the problem was from my older o-rings and PVC that needed to be replaced. I had water leaking from under my pump, not the o-rings.
After being fed up, I found
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
here on Angie's List and called him up. He was out at the house within and hour or so and pulled the motor out. He found a cracked/chipped space that he replaced. He checked all the seals and re-attached the motor only to find that it still leaked. He returned the following day and had learned that there was a part missing. The previous company had failed to install all the correct parts (yet blamed me for the leak)!! After adding the new part, re-installing the motor and helping me replace other o-rings, the pump primed up and is running great with no leaks!
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
is a complete professional, knows what he is doing, and can get the job done for a very reasonable price. I'd definitely call him again. I would strongly recommend him for your pool needs.

showed up on time and was very professional. He told me what to expect from the pool cleaning and tested the acid washing on the hot tub first to see the results. After seeing the improvement in the finish I agreed to have him clean the entire pool.
Looks Great!
He also fixed some of the leaky pool equipment I had without extra charge.

When my pump was nearly going out on August 6th, I called
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
to schedule time for them to take a look at my pump. They came out on Friday and took the pump apart and discovered there had been a leak (that I wasn't aware of) that had essentially corroded the bearings so I needed a new motor. They took the motor to their vendor hoping it would only take a couple of days to refurb the bearings. Unfortunately, they were backlogged and it was going to take a week. So instead, I was going to have them install an already refurbed motor. Unfortunately, they told me that it required a part that had to be shipped in from California and they would get to it on Friday the 14th.
On the 14th they did come out and installed the new motor. The next morning, the pump wouldn't prime. They suggested I add some
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
to the basket o-ring. I did and was able to get it primed. It seemed to be getting air in overnight, but it seemed to work for a few days. On Friday the 21st, I came home after being away a couple days to find it running with no prime, starting to overheat. I called
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
and she sent the guys out. They notified me (finally) that some of my o-rings in the valves and on the supply side were in need of replacement and did replace the rings in one valve. They re-primed the pump and got it running. I noticed a lot of water on the ground.
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
stated that it was from the blow-off valve on the filters when he vented the air. A few hours later, I went out and there was still a lot of water on the ground. After the pump shut off, it evaporated in a short amount of time. I sent pictures to them and said I would check again in the morning. When I turned it on in the morning, I immediately noticed water coming from underneath the pump.
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
claimed that it was my fault because I had old equipment with a new pump. She expressed many times that she didn't know what I wanted her to do. I just wanted my pump fixed! But she kept going back to it being my fault for having older equipment. However, there were no leaks where my o-rings were older. or from any PVC joints The water was coming from underneath. At one point in this process she even said she wished they hadn't taken this job, that they prefer to only do this work for their regular customers. I had had enough and decided to call another maintenance company.
On August 24th, a repair man came out and took the motor off and discovered a cracked spacer. He replaced it, but the pump still leaked. On the 25th, he came back and had found out that a part was missing!
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
had failed to install all the correct parts. Once he installed the missing part and re-assembled the motor, it is running beautifully with no leaks! It wasn't my old or unmaintained equipment. It was their negligence that cost me more money and worry and angst. Yes they saved me money in other areas, I'll give them that credit. But after 2 1/2 weeks of insisting there was nothing wrong with their work, I find out they left out a part that was the source of the leakage, I'll never call them again.
I can't recommend them for this service and if you're not already one of their maintenance customers, don't call. I can't speak to their cleaning service, but this was a nightmare experience.

Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
is everything we wanted in a pool service; the pool is always sparkling. He comes reliably and does a wonderful job. Our last pool guy was constantly at the door needing more money for repair after repair after repair;
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
does nearly all of the same things without ever even telling us. We have an old system, but he is super patient with all of our obnoxious issues. Highly recommend.

I am a little surprised I am having to write this.
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
took my pool on in the Spring of 2015. My pool has less than 1 year old plaster, and was in great condition when they started.
The initial tech was training a new guy who was just ultimately not qualified to do the work. I developed an algae issue during that time. That tech left and they replaced him with a new one. The algae issue got worse and I contacted the owner
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
about it. He sent his guys out and about a month later it was still not under control.
I called
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
again and was a bit more forceful regarding the issue. He sent his guys out and again through the month of
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
and part of August I was still not happy with the results. I talked with
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
yet once more and I missed work in order to meet his guys at my house and to show them all of the algae spots they were not addressing. With a heavy
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
of chemicals and some work they got it under control.
Today on 8/25/2015 I got a call from
Knox Pool And Spa Cleaners Provider Name Locked
informing me that he no longer wanted the liability of my pool. I was really a bit irritated that he had the audacity to tell me he wasn't sure he could keep my pool up to my standards. I asked him what part of my standards were too high for him. To me it seems expected that a pool service would not allow the presence of algae growth to stay in a pool.
I give the guy credit, when trouble arrived he finally got it dealt with. I just feel he was a bit shortsighted with regards to who started the trouble.

Wow, What an incredible repairman.

called me back within 2 hours. He was able to get me in the next day. He diagnosed the problem quickly and told me the cost upfront. He really knows what he is doing. I won't use anyone else. I fully trusted that I was not being taken advantage of.

I am only giving this business one star because that is the lowest I can go. "

!" Do NOT go to this store. As others have written the customer service is horrible, abominable, reprehensible, just plain BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Added to that, American Sales delivered a hot tub to us in a non functional state and then claimed it was our licensed, certified, and bonded electrician who hooked it up wrong causing it not to work. Our electrician followed the directions precisely as written in their instructions, then THEIR electrician came and said, and I paraphrase, "oh no, don't hook it up according to the directions in the book but on the back panel!". American Sales recommends this other company to do their electrical work sounding a bit fishy to me...can you draw the same conclusons as I do about American Sales and this other company working together????!!!!! Finally, both the initial technician who came out and the electrician were RUDE and the electrician could not stop bragging on himself if his life depended on it. We heard more about HIM and all his braniac capabilities than one would ever want to hear let alone think professional. Finally, they are not willing to compensate. We have a totally nonfunctional hot tub on our property and they tell us we must pay for a VERY expensive "board" to get it working ...VERY, VERY, VERY expensive as though the hot tub itself were not expensive enough. So, as you can tell, I hope you read this evaluation, and steer clear of this company. They are not the only fish in the sea and you'll do better elsewhere in my opinion.
