was great to work with. Always quick to respond whenever we had any questions/issues. I would definitely use MNEIL HOMES INC in the future.

Started fairly well but then degraded quickly during the second half of the project....

We started our project in
and were supposed to be finished by following Feb.
(now known as "Oak Homes") became unable to manage it's cash flow to pay it's subs and eventually all subs stopped working. Owner, Mr.
attempted to hire unqualified subs to complete but could not pay them as well. The work that was performed was poor quality and unfinished. He signed bank documents falsely in order to obtain bank drawls. Eventually we had to fire him because he could not complete our project even after 12 months had passed. He then proceeded to give us a final billing with what he called "extras". These extras were items he suggested but we did not agree to a charge and in our opinion were part of the base quote. Basically, he was attempting to recoup his losses due to poor project management. There many more negative details I will not elaborate on here.

We have also since discovered that numerous litigations are in progress against Oak Tree Homes, Inc.

Needless to say we would never use Oak Tree Homes (now Oak Homes) services again and highly advise anyone considering to not use !!

Many things about the company were great. I loved the floor plan and the exterior finishing of the home. Several things went wrong during the process, and they continue to go wrong now--6 years later. The foreman on the job was not very detail oriented and he would often have to be reminded about things several times. He made promises that he couldn't keep, and as a result our house has some issues that we will not be able to be resolved. The upgrades were really expensive. Many of the materials included in the original design were VERY cheap--no way we would have put them in a 300K house. (Lighting you would find in a cheap apartment.) Therefore, we spent a ton in upgrades so that we wouldn't have cheap lighting, flooring, and cabinets. There are serious design/construction issues with our roof, gutters, granite counter tops, and lighting.

THe first house they built literally blew up, and we were not told about it until after close and they did not have to disclose it since they re-poured the foundation. It has been nothing but a disaster from the beginning. They tried to overcharge during closing, which we caught and were refunded. They say they have a warranty but they will not fix anything if you cannot see it from 6 ft away, and they have still not fixed our intitial warrany requests from 5 months ago. They are a low quality home builder, who tried to turn a quick buck. Would highly not recommend. Do not make the same mistake we did. You can not sell!

It all turned out wonderful. This was the best experience I have had working with a contractor. They were the most professional and conscientious people you could find. I will definitely use them again for any big project.

The first night I moved in, the laundry room flooded. I have had a sewer problem with the house since then. It backed up in my toilet, so they installed a power flush toilet. They told me that there was a two year workmanship warranty, but that had expired. The sewer system works, but I have to take extra precautions to avoid a problem with it.

should have done a better job of solving the problem. At this point, they are refusing to solve the problem. They have left me with a defective sewer system.

They built the new house. Two thirds of the way through they replaced building supervisors. The man that came in was very unresponsive and would ignore questions we had. They seem to speed through completing the house just to get us in. Once we moved in we noticed several things that seem to be lacking in quality. I was very unsatisfied with the service I received from management and would not use them again.

He is a fantastic builder. I think he uses only quality workmen. The homes he builds are utter perfection. They are high quality and worth every penny. We looked at several builders before choosing him, and he is by far the best.

Everything went very smoothly. The quality of the work is top-notch. All of their employees were very respectful and cleaned up any mess made without having to be asked.

took care of all the scheduling of the work, dealt with the insurance folks and his boss

made sure everything happened as it should have. I would not hesitate to call them again w hen I need more work done. In fact I'm considering have them finish enclosing a 24' x 30' addition I had another contractor start. I feel they would do a much better job than the company I had start it.

We had our

home built in 2010. They were very attentive and responsive, as we were under unusual circumstances. Long story short, we had to stay living in Virginia while the home was built. The design center went above and beyond, as they helped us pick out furnishings by taking picutures and emailing them to us. They also happily adjusted the final quote several times as we changed our minds on things. Overall, dealing with

was a good experience. It's the quality of the home that we are disappointed in. Most importantly, the heating system. We have a two story, nearly 3000 sq ft, with no basement and no fireplace. We were told there wasn't enough time for a basement, and went with too many other upgrades to afford a fireplace. Big mistake. There is only ONE thermostat in the entire house which is downstairs, and there is NO return air vent in the house. In the winter months, we are forced to stay upstairs in the loft because it is unbareably cold downstairs. The thermostat obviously thinks the house is cold, so it sets off the furnace which runs even if we have it set at 50 degrees, and therefore roasts us out upstairs. There is only one vent in each large room downstairs, and there are a total of FOUR vents just in the master bedroom and bathroom....TWO in the bathroom alone! We sleep with our windows open in the dead of winter. Then of course it's the same in the summer, only it's the opposite of what you want. It's still cold downstairs and since the thermostat thinks it's cool, it won't set off the A/C which means we roast upstairs all summer too. It's really a big deal. we've complained more than once and they just shrug and say it's up to code or it wouldn't have passed inspection. They make silly suggestions like putting our ceiling fans on because heat rises, blah blah blah. Our situation is too extreme for such an easy fix. Our other complaints are, our sod was dead when we arrived because they only water sod on completed homes until they are sold. Once they are sold they shut the water off no matter what time you will be arriving from out of state. Our two little trees are dead as well. There are no drawers in the master bathroom whatsoever and they use the cheapest paint possible on the interior walls. We learned a lot of hard lessons on this house, as it's the first one we've ever had built. It would have been nice to be able to pop in and check on things, not that I would able to tell what a heating and air technician was doing wrong. You would just like to think that they would do it right in a brand new house.
