Contracting Reviews in Fort Wayne

Upon discovering that there were two layers of roofing instead of one higher up on the roof,
said the extra dumpster would cost $800, would I split the cost with him. I said sure, since none of the other 4 contractors had noticed this detail either. He then seemed to go about cutting other corners, including using a 15 pound felt instead of the orange material. His entire crew was Mexican except for his driver. The roof is on crooked, with the shingle edges being flush with the drip
of the gutters at one end of the garage/first floor element of my tri-level, but overhangs by about two inches over the doorway, next to the
or second story part. At that point it looks like a rolled roof
like that odd house on the south west corner one block east of State and
. This makes the gutters look like they are jutting out over the 30" foot garage roof like a
. When I mentioned it to him he blamed it on the gutters. The front looked odd as well, and again he said, "It's your gutters.: In addition, the aluminum siding on the second story was left as it was when the shingles were pulled away: The edges were ruffled by stress and daubed with tar residue from the seal that had existed to the old shingles. When I complained he said, "Well it was a tear off." The shingles do not overhang the descending fascia from the upper story, with no drip
or protective measures taken: The roofing materials lie on the bare wood like the ingredients of a BLT, (bacon lettuce tomato sandwich), bare untreated wood showing. Because of angle at which the shingles were applied, (a two inch difference over 43 feet) there was what roofers call FISH MOUTHING between the chimney and the second story, a run of about 9 feet: That is, there were arches in the shingles due to crowding, and summer heat did not cause these arches to melt down to create a seal. Also, the roof vents used do not all match. In addition to repeatedly blowing fuses with his giant air compressor, the surges ruined a classic Magnavox tube type console stereo previously owned by a proud Magnavox engineer. Although hSchmucker said he had to replace some plywood sheathing over the entryway next to the seconf floor "
," the sheathing there is painted like the rest of my trim and fascia. For this I paid another $100. When I had the gutters cleaned in fall of 2010 the back run of 43 feet was found to be packed with tear-off debris. I WILL NEVER HIRE ANOTHER AMISH CONTRACTOR, EVER. In fact, I'm wondering what "
" means. He failed to come when I called regarding these problems, though he promised to, and gave dates on which he would appear. I considered this a failure to observed the workmanship warranty which is considered an industry standard. I called him in May of 2009 and in June of 2009. I then had to try to get other roofers to do these repairs, which took five tries. In November I got a man to fix the chimney flashing, fishmouthing, install j channel over the raw siding, and recheck all venting, which ran my overall costs to $1100 more than
originally quoted.

I feel like he saw I was an older woman and he could take advantage of me. What he didn't know is I had a father, father-in-law and a husband who were carpenters. I was taught by my dad, I know what can be done and how it should be done............. I was ripped off...........

One worker was here and was very nice. He stained varnished and put up the trim and reset a door frame, so the door would close. He was here for two days, and even took the ledge home to finish varnishing it over night.

and his crew were prompt, neat, professional and did quality work. Fine craftsmen. I highly recommend them.

Arrived on time, was responsive to my questions (I always have a lot). Took pictures of all areas which he saw that he felt need attention and e-mailed them to me the next day with a quote. He began the job when he said he would and kept me informed of what was going on and continued to be responsive to my questions. The work was done well and in a timely fashion.
I would use him again in a heartbeat if I needed something done.

was great. He told us we could buy our own material or he could get it for us. He gave us advice on what would be good but also economical. He replaced the sub floors and laid tile in two bathrooms in our home. He came on time and did the work when he said he would. He was not pushy about payment and his price was fair. Then shortly there after I found out I needed some minor repairs on my roof.

was able to help even with short notice and he did a great job. I trust

The new roof membrane and stone removal went well and I am quite relieved that I'm finally rid of the leaky roof. During the roofing process the damaged carport ceiling plywood was removed and replaced. The paint was matched perfectly and after adding 2 coats more than expected looks brand new. In between the above repairs drywall cracks and bubbling were mudded and sanded. Aside from an abundance of white dust from the sanding, I am happy with the results. The screen and trim replacement were done exceptionally well and I'm very happy with the results. NO more bird nests with the resulting mess they cause!! Towards the finalization of the repairs they installed a bathroom faucet that was a last minute add on. This is the second time I have hired this company. Two of the owner's nephews completed 98% of the work with the owner checking periodically. They both were experienced in many areas of home repair and were a pleasure to have around. They were very considerate and polite. After 3 weeks of work I felt like I needed to schedule a family All debris was removed and disposed of properly. I would recommend to them that during mudding and sanding, a sheet of plastic be placed over nearby furniture. Other than that I really have absolutely no complaints. I would once again recommend

for ANY repair needing done. They will be doing another small job for me in the next couple weeks and I plan on hiring them again in the spring for more repairs and remodeling.
