We met
through a friend of a friend. We were talking about remodeling our kitchen and his name came up. He had done work for them in the past and they could not say enough about him. So we called
to talk about our kitchen remodel.
listened intently to what we were trying to accomplish, then shared some insight we would have never thought of. A few examples of this would be the solid wood drawer bottoms we now have, that are dove tail jointed to the sides of the drawers for enough strength to last the lifetime of the house, complete with 100 pound rated drawer glides, and they self close of course! All the lower cabinets pull out, and a few cool things like a pull out
rack really help too. All of these things can probably be ordered from any big box store, but not without the mass produced shortcomings that are inevitable.
hand built our kitchen cabinets, and it shows.
is more of an artist then a woodworker, but we are sure glad he builds things! If your into quality, Kens your man.

After the job was completed,
left us with a couple of the butcher block cutting boards he also builds from scratch. He explained the craftsmanship that went into them too. Something about the grain of the wood being the wrong way on the cheap butcher blocks, I'm a believer!

He was on time, up front, and professional about everything. He and his partner accidentally broke a window that fell unexpectedly, but they boarded the window and replaced it at no cost the next day. They kept a clean workspace and were friendly and efficient.

! They worked hard and continuously for several days until all was competed. I have to say my house looks pretty spectacular now. It is all so fresh and clean.

even took down a couple of well liked overhead lighting fixtures, spray painted them from Brass to Brushed Nickel, and they look like brand new. They were very careful and cleaned up after themselves. It was nice that they were all so well spoken. I enjoyed working with them.

Angie's list won't let me submit information for work peformed at two different locations

similar time frame so I will describe it here.
The window job was at my home.
After the foreman came out to my house to measure and view the rooms that needed replacement windows, I was provided with an email quote of $498 each for two windows "installed." I sent a deposit check on 2/17. I was told that the install would begin on May 5, but work did not start until May 15. I was also told it would take a few hours during the morning. It ended up taking two full days (making me miss

) and the job was still was not done. It was clear that the carpenter who was sent out was in over his head. It seemed to me after the first day that they were running the risk of losing money so I offered to forgo the second window for which no installation had even begun. The foreman came out himself and said no they wanted to finish the job and be professional about it.
After two full days the carpenter was almsot finished with the job. He cleaned up the area very nicely but left a pile of construction debris in my driveway. The reason the job wasn't finished was that the original trim could not be re-used so I was left with wood trim to stain and paint and wait for someone to come out and finish the job. It wast finished on May 20. The quality of the work was excellent.
When I got the bill I was surprised to see a cost overrun of 36 &. The quote was for $498 installed, but the final bill was $1355.26. I complained to the foreman who had quoted the job and he said he would put it right. The office worker who sends out the bills saw things differently and said that since they couldn't reuse the casings, they added the extra charge. I do not understand why a professional cannot anticipate this. They also charged me for extra hardware because they had ordered thw wrong color.
The siding job was at a different property. I was quoted $2600 for one large exterior wall. I sent a deposit check on 3/1 and was told they would begin on May 12. By May 14 they hadn't started and I heard nothing despite asking for updates. June 11 I got an email asking if I could meet the foreman at the worksite the following day. As I was headed out on a business trip I could not. The workers showed up anyway and gave my property manager a hard time because he refused to let them enter a tenant's apartment so they could use the tenant's electricity without consent.By the time I got there three days later they had a problem getting an elecrictian to come out on short notice to remove the meters so I had to call my electrician to help out. I am still finding little piece of trim on the lawn and the identifying numbers for the fuel oil fill tubes were replaced incorrectly. The total bill came to $4900 ($2600 + $2300) which was reasonable but with $750 tacked on because the window trim was not included in the original quote. I had specifically mentioned the need to window trim when I had asked for the quote. The quality of the work was excellent.

Fairland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
did an excellent job on my kitchen remodeling. This business does precise work and made it easy for me by picking up the items needed so that I didn't have to go and look for it. He also asked for my approval before installation. The people that did the cabinet refacing made some errors and
Fairland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
. pointed them out to me and corrected some of them. This contractor was on time and showed up when he was supposed to. Since I have am 90-yr old mother living with me, I was especially grateful for saving me a lot of time by making the purchases of the new items to be installed. I find him to be trustworthy and on several occasions had to leave my condo for doctor's visits, shopping, etc. He was here for a total of 6 days (4-6 hours a day).
I have complaints against the 2 other firms that did cabinet refacing and countertop installation but am waiting for them to rectify their mistakes.
I have recommended

to 3-4 friends who have used him this past year and, too, are happy with his work. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

don't waste your time with
Fairland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
he is a no show and doesn't want to work. I had two appointments scheduled with him; the first he cancelled at the end of our appointed time, said we could reschedule whenever I wanted. He also picked the second appointment time and didn't show up or call but 20 after the end of our time he sent me a "text" message saying his "car broke down and he couldn't come" I hope Angie's list removes this guy.

The contractor who had promised to install our storm door and square the existing door of our old house failed to show once to may times. Pulled
Fairland General Contractors Provider Name Locked
from Yelp. He came by and estimated the price and then later telephoned to say he would square the door a different way for less. Agreed to the new price, he showed up about 15 minutes earlier than promised and went to work with his assistant. They worked steadily , about 4 hours, until the existing main door was hung squarely, and the new storm door was hung and operating properly. They very carefully caulked the replacement brick mold. I am disappointed that somehow they managed to scar the finish of the new door in getting it mounted, but the damage is not significant, just irritating.

called me back promptly and appeared on time to give me a price on the removal of our deck and some large bushes. His crew appeared on time and cleaned up the work area nicely before they left. The crew introduced themselves and were very pleasant. I would recommend this company and intend to use them again.
